Look, no solution is likely to be perfect. Everything will be over inclusive (such as retroactively awarding the pacer's G3 for those 2 flops) or underinclusive (even my solution is underinclusive). The goal should simply be to try to get equitable results. And lets be honest about your point about reality RowdierBob: If my rules were in place, players like Wade and Lebron wouldn't risk it.

Wade's flopping, while something of an embarrassing blight on the game, really is pretty harmless in the grand scheme of things. The anti-flopping rules the NBA has brought in is a decent start to rectifying it as long as they keep dishing out the fines. The fines don't really matter to guys making that much money but I'd reckon the public shaming aspect to their image will eventually get them thinking twice about doing it (hopefully!). I agree 100% that there is a big difference between playing physical and playing dirty, like Laimbeer would do. However it is the refs jobs to make sure it doesn't cross that line, which is seemingly why they were created in the first place. I also agree the fines are a step in the right direction but until the big stars start getting major fines nobody will take it seriously. You could give out a fine every game to players like Wade, James and Ginobli if you were actually enforcing the rule. I think they need to be called out more by people with credibility, like Magic and others. Yes First Take is generally garbage, but I remember seeing this interview and thinking it was interesting and gave the point of view of the ref and precautionary reffing and league edicts.

I've been relatively afk from the threads since I don't wanna rehash old stuff and don't have the time. I should stop slacking :/

Everybody complains about something. At least this issue has merit. Not to be a huge dick about it, but it's always the same people bitching. People who've never watched basketball during the regular season drop in here to preach about the grave injustices of flopping, plus some regulars in the thread who just can not seem to abide by it - even though its been a 15 page issue in every single iteration of this thread. For some reason, it has to be brought up again because its killing the sport. I don't see how basketball in America can possibly survive this flopping epidemic.

Though people should be careful about disregarding an opinion just because of who said it without considering the merit of the statement itself.

And we all know how well NBA front office deals with all manners of flagrants, techs, and blown calls. (read: doesn't do jack shit about it)

And of course the ways of SA are inscrutable, but, sadly, it probably won't include Pop. Funny thing about this game is that the Spurs are getting to the rim easily but are shooting piss-poor otherwise.
