What is Blade & Soul? Blade & Soul®, developed by NCsoft®'s Team Bloodlust, tells the story of players' quest for vengeance and redemption against a backdrop of Asian fantasy, set in a beautifully crafted online world drawn from the work of renowned artist Hyung-Tae Kim. Blade & Soul prominently features martial arts inspired combat and Qing Gong "light body" movement, as depicted in classic Asian martial arts adventure films.
What races and classes does Blade & Soul have? There are four races: the towering Gon, the versatile Jin, the female-only Kun, and the diminutive Lyn.
There are six classes in Blade & Soul: the stealthy Assassin, the deadly Blademaster, the axe-wielding Destroyer, the versatile Force Master, the mighty Kung Fu Master, and the elusive Summoner.
Is Blade & Soul PvP, PvE, or some combination of the two? The gameplay of Blade & Soul is initially "player-versus-environment" (PvE), but players can choose a faction, enabling them to participate in "player-versus-player" (PvP) combat.
What makes this different from other Asian fantasy MMOs? Unlike other Asian fantasy MMOs which often imitate Western concepts of fantasy, Blade & Soul draws upon the deep and fascinating mythology of a myriad of Asian cultures, which promises to bring Western players a completely new experience rich with intrigue, mysticism, and high-flying martial arts.
In the words of Art Director Hyung-Tae Kim: "Blade & Soul goes much further to infuse users' experiences and growth--the people they meet and the situations they encounter while playing the game--which we feel ties in much closer to the genre."
How successful has the game been in Korea? Blade & Soul has been received extremely well in the Korean market and immediately jumped to the top of the game charts, upsetting powerhouse games like League of Legends and Diablo III. Since its Korean launch, Blade & Soul has achieved fantastic concurrency rates with more than 230,000 fans playing at a time.
When does the game launch in North America and Europe? We are eagerly working to bring this acclaimed title to Western gamers, and we will launch it when we are confident it is ready.
Which platforms does the game currently support? Blade & Soul is being developed for the Windows PC platform
How much will Blade & Soul cost? Will there be a subscription fee, or will Blade & Soul utilize the microtransaction business model? As the launch date draws nearer, we will have more information to share on price and business models. However NCsoft is actively evaluating what gaming fans in Europe and the United States want, and we are committed to creating a business model that will meet our fans' expectations.
NCsoft®, headquartered in Seoul, Korea, is the world's premier publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online games, including the critically acclaimed Aion®, Blade & Soul, Lineage®, Guild Wars® and WildStar™ franchises. NCsoft West is a division of NCsoft that holds operating responsibilities for North America, Europe, South America and Australia/New Zealand. More information can be found at www.ncsoft.com.
Western gamers want an expanding PvE set of content and Korean MMO's have a penchant for being a grind (standard MMO) followed by a complete abyss of endgame.
MAYBE this one is different. NCSoft does have a very strong MMO record.
That being said the art development is fantastic, but I think Westerners will be turned off by high graphics requirements. I foresee lots of bitching and moaning about why peoples RADEON 9800XT 8xAGP card with 512 MB RAM and pentium 4 can't run this.
I for one am very hyped about it, I do think the graphics will be limiting, but wouldn't that be even MORE of a problem in asain countries then the western market?
Saw randomly a gameplay vid and what drew me were the naruto-like speed and water walking and gliding through the air. If nothing else, it should be fun for a couple weeks.
Why do i feel like this looks like Lineage 2 style gameplay. (a model which doesn't really cater ((work ever)) to the western audience)
Lots of offensive class roles and guilds seems to be dismissing any sort of raiding/instance partying or 'battlegrounds' over zerging raid bosses and large scale world pvp between guilds.
Western game success is all about the rapid 'small work, small reward' adding up over surpassing other players through the amount of hours you put in. Its the reason why league of legends is so successful--each game is fast and you get the reward of winning (hopefully) within ~40 minutes. The other option seems to be dynamic pve stuff that you can have fun with your friends and accomplish something at the end of the night. Honestly, i don't know shit about the game at the moment, so correct me if im wrong, but its just initial impressions of seeing these vids throughout the years.

My impression from other people playing this game is that the game has a heavy PvE component and story elements. A lot of the missions seems to be solo (in fact, the whole game seems to be better played solo anyway.... because there are a lot of one-on-one interactions with mobs).
I might be wrong about this, but I *THINK* the way you are supposed to do the playthrough is as follows. For major story missions you have to play solo, but playing these missions alone are not enough because you will eventually be lacking in level... so you may have to go to other "training" areas to grind your levels...
Going to be trying this on KR for a month and see out it goes. Looks very similar to Tera both art style and both games uses Unreal Engine 3.

Lol sadly enough I've looked into this, Taiwan is the best central location. Excellent routing to both EU/NA/KR/JP/CN servers.

Yup, getting pretty antsy about it. Going to primarily be playing with my cousin. I heard that leveling is pretty easy so hopefully I'll have enough time to properly make another character and focus it on community (TL guild perhaps?).

leveling is easy, and you have enough skills to properly pvp by lvl 25 (about a day's worth of leveling). the only problem might be that with the influx of players, competing with others for mob drops might be annoying to finish side quests.
the mmo genre had died to me after playing many new releases for a few months before tiring of them. aion, tera, archeage, albion online, and others have failed to keep me entertained for long. hearing about b&s from my l2 days, i was excited to play back then. i grew older, worked more jobs, and find mmos to be a poor substitute for irl. i was barely interested in b&s when i bought a pack 2 weeks ago to get into the alpha 2 weekend. when i finally got ingame, the early game tutorial system made me cringe hard. then, inbetween getting high, i saw the opening cinematic where (not to spoil) "shit gets whack," and i was thoroughly intrigued to play more even though 2 minutes ago i had no emotional connections to any characters.
i liked how they put your character into the cinematics. its kind of like playing until dawn, where the game seamlessly moves the characters from a playing screen to a cinematic video. idk how to really explain this, but i described it to my friend as "designing your own character and dropping them into an until dawn world" without the horror experiences and etc.
i played an assassin til 26-28 and had fun. i was constantly learning new skills and trying to work them into my rotations as efficiently as possible. you barely regenerate health, i was gaining 6/1000 every 3-6 seconds out of combat. early in the game monsters die in 1 or 2 hits making it a very noob-friendly game, until you hit level 20 and start doing solo instances with bosses that will take you a little while to complete. as a veteran high-level mmo/rts player, i was very surprised that i couldn't learn all the intricate moves of my class in a day. after the entire weekend, there were still new combos which i found to be better than what i was using. near the end, i was fighting monsters almost entirely while stealthed. in my final hours of the alpha weekend i learned 2~ new skills i never got an opportunity to try out. the game is very easy to button mash while playing, but it is very ineffective. my class at least was busting out full combos in a second pretty much, so you really needed to know your skills + hotkeys very well.
the thing that was the most interesting to me was that i couldn't master my character though. when i played games like league of legends, i could pick up a new hero and in 1 or 2 games, be pretty much perfect at it. but the depth of combos you can use in this game is interesting me as an adult to play every single class. it genuinely sounds fun to me, as a player who 1 hour before playing said "maybe it would be better if they launched later when i care more"
i have a bunch of screenshots available on my website from when i played the alpha 2 weekend if anyone is interested.
that one shows all the skills an assassn can learn, there are 6 skills available on the F key (2 are locked to me for now, and the other is a basic movement skill) based on different conditions ingame such as being in stealth or having someone cced. the skills with numbers next to them all have a skill tree which allows you to customize a single skill.
i have more screenshots available at www.pwntz.com/bns, my personal site.
the game is a little sexy, as you can tell by any of my early screenshots where i was making my character. the game however gets a little mature at times. one instance is available here, with my "mature dagger"
edit: after reaching endgame i actually stopped having fun. i refunded my pack too. the main focus is on 1v1 pvp in an arena which is fun if you like that... 1v1 balanced arena pvp. i personally didn't like it cause i didn't play with any friends and didn't want to join a guild. but you can reach max level in a week of playing maybe 8-10 hours a day imo as an experienced mmo player but also casually playing reading most of the text for side quests. overall not funny, sorry if my post mislead anyone initially.
So this game released yesterday officially for NA/ EU
anyone willing to test and have some fun? I can't promise i'll commit anything more than a few hours a week but it's always fun to play with some fellow TL'ers
For now i can say, install can be a bit of a bother cause some stuff causes errors (for me it was windows firewall...) and there is currently a queue for about 10-20min in prime times if you are on a free account.
Game looks good, lots of cinematics and stuff, good storytelling (dunno if the story itself is any good yet)
this is like 5 years too late, the combat system alone cant tempt me anymore and i allready know the rest of the game is somewhat lacking. Plus "No healers no tanks only damage" makes me run.

Well, it's not for everyone Although the combat is quite different from TERA I actually like not beeing dependant on a heal/tank/dd composition cause now when i die, i know exactly who screwed up... (ME!)
Edit: And I like that you can take PvP seriously with the fluid combat, ELO ranking and balanced classes. Don't know any other MMO who does that

they do have some skills that generate more or less aggro/hate if you spec into it. bms and kfms are considered tanks in most of the parties i've been in, if the instance is difficult enough not to faceroll through
So the installation of the game was a trashy last decade experience for me and now in the last 3 days I have either be met with problems logging into BnS or having 1hour+ queue times to get on a server when I do actually manage to login.
Basically I like the look of the PvP in BnS and it makes me actually want to play an MMORPG for longer than a couple of hours for the first time ever. I can forgive the crappy PvE that seems to plague all of these MMOs for the PvP, but this is really feeling like an amateur affair atm.
does this have battle grounds like pvp or is it only those 1v1s everyone is on about? i dont see a point in 1v1 mmo pvp, might as well play streetfighter?

BnS is probably the only MMO with PvP that is not a joke.
How is it not a joke that you can be queued up with people different levels than you are? I was watching a stream the other day, and this lvl 30 guy was facing 45+'s and getting almost one shot by combos he didn't have access to and couldn't prevent.
Maybe it's balanced around max level, but MMOs have rightly been removing gear/level from the PvP equation lately and it seems odd that this one doesn't.
I downloaded it last night. My first impression is that it's the generic F2P Korean MMORPG with a fancy combat system. Something like "vindictus meets tera". Nothing unique about the artstyle. Considering that I had to wait 1 hour to actually get in and the existance of bots... and NCsoft, I probably won't stick with the game. The all chat is already useless with countless gold spammers. Today will give it another try and will see.
dunno what you all guys have with art style and graphics... i really couldn't care less as long as the game is fun
PvP: - 3v3 and 6v6 Battleground is coming soon'ish afaik - Arena PvP is everyone vs everyone but max level, matched only through ELO - Max lvl is only vs max level, again purely matched through ELO
The one thing that annoys me is that you need a lot of luck to get your class weapon out of the treasure chests. The only way to get you class weapon for sure is by buying a special key which guarantuess your class weapon. Now if I don't want to spend money I will have to farm the first dungeon "black narrows" until I get my class weapon out of the treasure chest, you can't even trade them. I did Black Narrows 3 times so far and had no luck.
So this is kinda p2w, but I guess some grinding is okay and at least I might get a complete purple sould shield out of this grind.

Maybe i missunderstood something, but i thougt you just upgrade your starting weapon throughout the game and really dont need any other weapons?
After some googling i came to the conclusion that our starting weapon is enough until lvl 45+, then some better stuff drops in dungeons etc. So you keep upgrading until then

Yeah but to keep upgrading your weapon, you need to evolve them with breakthrough weapons. So you have to get those. For example when you hongmoo weaopong reaches level 5 you need the Stalker weapon of you class, then it can breakthrough and you can level it to level 10. On level 10 you need the blight weapon of your class which you can only get out of that blackram narrows dungeon.
But just now I got it after my 4th run, didn't get it out of the chest but the boss dropped it directly and I was the only Assassin . 4 runs is not too bad I guess and you can comine it with a daily quest.
Now I got to evolve my hongmoon dagger into an awakened blight dagger, I already maxed it out again and need a Corrupted dagger next to evolve it once again. So basically you need class weapons every 5 weapon levels to be able to evolve it.
So holy shit..after all the buzz surrounding this game i expected something better.
Its is your typical korean P2W mmo. Weird ass minigames all over the place, dumb upgrade systems & chance bags etc all smushed together into a terrible UI to hide the fact that its literally "If you buy our KEYS you can get better loot!".
The questing is awful even by MMO standards. You spam F through all the quests in your hub for ~2 minutes then run for ~2 minutes and then kill stuff for ~2 minutes, run for ~2 minutes and repeat. (yes thats a 25% fun:time ratio right there.)
The combat is clunky and shite, after having played both the assassin and the force walker (or w/e it is) half the time im using skills they arent even registering properly, not working at all or the animations are bugging out. How people can call this "fluid" is beyond me.
I didnt even get to the PvP because the game is so bloody bad. I repeat that this game is a very typical korean F2P game with buckets of P2W systems all over the place. Avoid.

Pretty much exactly the same impression my friend and I had.
All that and it's so unbelievably dumb that soul shield parts take up inventory space considering there's a separate page for them. Got to level 21 and quit after not getting my blight weapon in a bajillion runs.
Getting more bonus exp and gold based on how much you spend in the cash shop for Premium also didn't really sit right with me even if a F2P player could eventually catch up.

If it is not smooth then you are having ping/lag problems~
There's not much reason to keep soul shields in your inventory, not sure why you aren't just salvaging them.
In my view this game isn't P2W, its more like P2NP (pay to not play). Takes around 2~3 weeks to max level if you pay nothing and the only thing worth farming for serious is outfits~
You should run Blackram(blight weapon drop) ten times to get your +400 hp achievement. The chance of not getting your blight weapon is 2% in ten runs. Each run takes 10 minutes~
The pvp in this game, imo, is more similar to fighting games than to your regular mmo's. A brand new lvl 45 that is skilled has equal chance~
I have been loving this game. I've pretty much been only doing PvP and some of those complaints I'm reading don't make sense to me. Complaining about the leveling system for one. I don't think it is supposed to be very involved as you want to just hit max level as fast as possible anyways. I was snowed in yesterday and started a fresh toon. I got to level 30 even with all the server crash's they where having.
Like the guy said above me you must have really high ping if the combat is buggy to you. I'll admit I had to look up what animation canceling was and even most of the basic's of the PvP system before I had a chance in arena. Starting with KFM did not help either haha. I went like 1-20 before I looked up how to play and man are wins rewarding after you suck so bad.
The pvp is not P2W at all and is the main reason for playing this game. Like Kiryah said it's almost more like a fighting game where you have to learn timings and combos and even the other classes so you can find holes and ways to get in. The balance might not be perfect but if you read chat you will see everyone complain about almost every class being op. Also in arena your stats and gear don't matter so as soon as you hit 45 you can be right in there with the best. Nothing you payed for helps you there.
TL:DR Don't play the game for the questing there are guides to hit max lvl in 15-16 hours. PvP is where most of the competition lies and its fun as fuck and not P2W.
Has awesome highlight and tutorial vids where he really breaks down the combos ect. Was a huge help for me personally. Like I said before I went 1-20 before I knew what 3RF combo was and now I'm gold.

@combat not my experience, combat is smooth and responsive 99% of the time for me, I'm using lots of different iterations for different situations and if it wasn't overall too easy while leveling combat would easily carry this alone for me. Friend of mine and me just tried a dungeon that was way to difficult and tried for every fight 6-7 different approaches, with vastly different success depending on strategy and execution. Combat is terrible for me when my ping skyrockets, which is to be expected.
Keys only influence for which class the weapon drops iirc, not giving you anything that you couldn't find otherwise. I agree though that farming purple weapon upgrades can be a chore if you are unlucky. Real money fastens your progress, but I don't think overall that the f2p-progress speed is bad or a chore in general except for these rare cases (which are like 3 times in the game).
The good: +combat is fluid, reactionary and lots of fun, at least playing blade master is. I don't have downtimes and it often rewards on the spot thinking and quick reactions. Comparable to skyforge, which means really really good. +Skill system is pretty nice. I'm using 80-90% of my vast skillset (20 skills on like 8 keys and it works). Skilltrees are mostly interesting and respec without cost whenever I want is neat. +Story presentation is pretty good. They give their characters lots of time, some are even funny (Master Cho). Lots of cutscenes with decent choreography. +Game is pretty (for an mmo). Unreal engine 3 doing work. Less pretty than skyforge, but still pretty. +The entire movement works really well. You can glide, run over water, jump combo into special attacks, make some ff7 advent children moves. Feels fluid and is fun to play around with. +it doesn't try to be WoW (unlike ToR). It's still an mmo though (unlike skyforge)
The bad: -90% of the quests are pretty generic. Kill 10 monsters. Press f 10 times in front of an object. Almost as bad as GW2. -the game is way to easy except for dungeons where you can decide on the difficulty (by playing with less players). -item system feels boring and generic. It's not terrible, but it certainly isn't interesting either. Soul Shields are a nice idea and might play a bigger role in the late game. -Story has some major flaws. Evils don't want to kill you for some reason. My mc is chasing a party of evil guys and was 3 or four times beaten unconscious by them. Also re-appearing characters that were killed in a side quest. -Dungeons are mixed, some are really good, some are pretty boring.
The ugly: -too few monsters for the quests. It gets as bad as 5 players trying to kill 10 of monster x when are max 3 of the monsters on the map. I've skipped some quests as a result (<10%). Spawns are luckily pretty fast, but spawncamping is boring. -Item drops can be extremely random. Friend of mine got his upgrade weapon in the second try, another friend and me took both over ten tries. Blackram was fun for the first three times, maybe even for the first 5, but certainly not after that. -waiting queues for playing especially on the weekend.
Overall I'd rate it 7.5/10 in PvE. It's better than GW2 which I didn't like much, it's style is less cool than skyforge's which I liked a lot, but it feels more connected and is less grind-heavy. Haven't ever thought about paying money for it, which is great. Haven't played Tera which might be the closest game. I recommend giving it a try if you are interested, it's f2p after all.
Fuck this fucking piece of fucking shit!!! I just did my 10th run of Blackram Narrows and finally boss dropped a bangle (I have opened all my loot chests with keys but no bangle) Meaning out of 20 chances for a bangle, i found one (5%) Since there are 8 classes ( Found 2 Warlock weapons) chances should be 12,5% but nevermind... Then some fucking rich ass bastard paid over 12 silver in the auction... WHAAAAAA
[/rage]
Otherwise i still like this game. Found some really nice ppl in random dungeon queues and stuff Unfortunately i'll don't get the daily dash rewards cause i only throw 1s and 2s but hey

Well I got my weapon pretty early like 2ish runs however I grinded 10 anyways for the 400hp buff you get for 10 runs. So its all worth it in the end :p.
I ran blackram narrows for the first time yesterday, expected to have to run it 50 times to get the weapon, dropped it in each chest I got on my first two runs, and an extra on the boss. It must be a glitch, I can't be this lucky haha
The game is really fun, I've tried blade master and force master up to lvl 20 and both are interesting to play. There are tons of spells and you need to think about what you're doing even in basic PvE, and the PvP sounds great. Can't wait to try it!
Needed 14 runs to get my weapon... The good thing is, i already horded enough fodder and the next breakthrough weapon that i immediatly leveld my weapon to the next evolution ^^ Can now one-shot normal mobs
Also did my first open world PvP yesterday. FUUUN!! Dunno exactly what i did there but i got some points and used those to level something ^^ although got some tokens. No idea what for yet
Already rank 9 in open-world Pvp, playing for the Reds. Haven't tried arena play yet, figured it doesn't make much sense with half of my skills missing. I'll give it a shot once i'm lvl 40+ Still no luck with the daily dash and only 11 days left. Really want the sweet robe at 100.
Right now i feel playing BnS is less of a grind than my Heroes dailys ^^
To the people saying this is some generic grindy Korean MMO, I have one question: what other games are you basing this off of? Because it's like 10-15x less grindy than most Korean MMOs I've played in my day, and I've played quite a few...
I also think it's kinda funny when people complain about the PvP even though many genre veterans agree it's some of the best PvP in any MMO... and apparently it's really competitive in Korea... hmm ^^

Leveling is not grindy at all. Personally I'm a little annoyed when a breakthrough item takes like 20-30 boxes to give me my class's weapon but it's just bad luck.

The only grind is to find quest mobs to kill ^^
The drop chance/ luck element is annoying. I'd much rather have a 100% chance of finding a "splitter" and with 10 "splitters i can make a whole, meaning i have to do sth exactly 10 times, not 9, not 11 Would be a much clearer goal i could work towards.

Isn't drop chance a thing for most items in almost every MMO though?
Isn't drop chance a thing for most items in almost every MMO though?
Yes it is, but it doesn't have to be IMO Especially if it wants to be a "real" e-sport, i feel like luck/ chance should be minimized if not completely avoided. I really like that about SC II and Heroes.
The only MMO who did this that i played was RIFT, where you gained Ranks and PvP currency in PvP based on your performance and could then buy better gear. Obviously better players/ hardcore players got there faster but everyone got there.
Aww Rift, i miss you <3 Loved to nuke ppl with my Pyro or and bring the enemy to tears cause they couldn't kill me with my Chloro

But you don't need better gear for blade and soul pvp arena. Right now the second you hit 45 you are good to go. All armor and weapons have normalized stats. The only drop related thing that will suck are the hongmoon skills. I love this system by the way. I already have two 45's and I don't have to worry about crazy grinding right off the bat just to compete in PvP.

I don't disagree with you on your point that maybe it's not ideal, but it seems very weird to see some people hold it against this game despite the fact that it's very much a genre trope that almost all games succumb to, and most of them to a much greater extent. ^^
At the same time I doubt we'll see any meaningful change in the genre anytime soon.
well, in general, luck is something bad in e-sports
Gear: In this game, obviously gear grinding/ luck doesn't matter for PvP
PvP: What matters is Crit / dodge/ block/ whatever chance and stuff. But far less than in other/ similar MMO games.
Disclaimer: Me, personally don't hold it against this game at all. I feel we are on the right track here. Still, one can wish for a non-luck based equipment/ combat system where skill/ strategy decides for PvE and Pvp :D
On January 30 2016 00:47 Dizmaul wrote: I'm confused the PvP arena is a non-luck based equipment/ combat system where skill/ strategy decides. So what are you wishing for?
Its also where the esport of this game takes place for obvious reasons.
Disclaimer: Classes may not be balanced perfectly so it might not always be pure skill and strategy haha.
Maybe i'm on the wrong track here, but isn't there like, a chance to crit? to pierce? I'm relative new to the game so it's entirely possible i'm wrong ^^
Got my first arena daily quest and started with a 5 game winning streak! I'm owning this game! Haha, no i guess i was just faster than my opponent at button mashing ^^
What is the current end game gear in our verison of the game? Could someoen give a short summary. I tried google but with the 1000 different versions of this game, i am now more confused than before

What would you label it? I see it as the very definition of a MMO... You mean because it lacks instanced 20v 20 zerg battles like TERA ? I don't miss those

Was pretty sure the "Win a 1v1" and "Play 5 matches 1v1" were Dailys but can't find them anymore...??? Maybe I'm just stupid, dunno

Can't seem to find neither...
Is this a level thing maybe? Got my first Arena Q with lvl 30 I believe. Thought it was a daily Now I'm 35 and got no quests, neither at tourney notice board, nor in the arena
Got my ass handed to me multiple times today with my FM.
Specially vs Assassins i got problems: They stun me, i break it, they cloak, i can't do shit They blind me, i can't do shit, they cloak, i can't do shit
Fun times....
And Blade Master seem to have no CD on their ranged stun... stun.. break...stun... break... stun... no more breaks -> dead
Yeah this is the kind of game where for most classes you need to know how your opponents class works to beat them. I wont argue with Assassins being lame as fuck tho hah. I cant stand chasing there ass around for 3 min. Also I have a BM and we only have 1 escape so if we mess that up your FM will freeze my ass till GG.
i'd like your input on if i'd enjoy the game or not. judging by visuals and gameplay video it look like the kinda game i'd like to play.
the two last mmo i played were aion (both at release and after the gunner patch) and tera (both at release and just before the reaper patch didnt play the actual patch). i don't really mind farming but i like questing too. i like mid party high dungeon (like party of 6 or so) but dont like big (30+) parties. i like to pve more than pvp. but in pvp i like war system more than arena. i absolutely hate open world pvp but if there is safe chanels i dont mind it (i hate to be pked while questing basically).
from what i expect for now : i expect a battle system more like tera, i don't expect too much HL content as the game is young, and i expect so much bot than general chat is automatically ignored
and if your answer to previous question is yes i'd like the game, which class would you recommend ? on tab-targeting mmo like aion i like distance dps like mage or gunner, on action-based system like tera i like melee more. i liked tera tank with targeting grappling and such but didn't like aion tank i liked heal in both but as i plan to play solo and not like voice server, heal is a little on the low side for me

PvP Arena is a big part of this game sure, but it's not all there is
With Mushin Tower there is some really challenging PvE hig end content as well.

Putting some numbers on
1. Visuals and gameplay is good and fun for a MMO, no question 2. Combat is TERA'ish and you can "fly" aka windrun as in Aion, so you'll find both games in BnS 3. You can easily quest you way towards max lvl. Some quests are fun, some are catch and kill. Story has lots of cinematics, and NPCs in the main quest are dubbed. Though grinding is faster 30+ Lots of dungeons, some solo'able some you need a party (4-6pp). Group finder is fast, but it's not "ingame" There is no open world PvP/ PK if you don't want 4. Combat is better than TERA, more fluid, combos, ... 5. Class: Destroyer would fit you best. Blade Master and Ku Fu Master maybe as well 6. Every class has some selfheal. There is no tank, supoort, DDs. Most support'ish is summoner i guess
Could anyone of you maybe give me some pointers? 1. Do i still need to hang on to my "main" weapon? 2. Do i still need to hang on to my "main" accessorys? 3. What soulshield to i get? Get first? 4. Where do i get my missing gear? belt and stuff?
What dailys are most important? - Most Gold? - Most gear upgrade stuff?

Thank you
It's difficult to find reliable info, so take it with a grain of salt: 1. yes, your main weapon seems to remain standard from what I've read. There's a high crit alternative, but the main weapon remains the goto for ki recovery reasons. 2. Haven't found better accessories yet despite not upgrading them since forever. I don't think serious alternatives outside of pvp exist. 3. Most of the time the one from the purple dungeon you need to farm for the weapon. The new "standard" seems to be mushin's tower shield "endless tower". All soulshields vary highly in stats, so a good blackram supply chain shield beats a bad endless tower shield. That being said endless tower is tied for the highest possible crit stat and has overall more stats than most of the other ss. 4. The current belt to get is the purple one (Think it's called siren) from blackram supply chain. It's southwest in the piggy-farm world (hogshead ....). The other thing you can get you can either get from pvp or from either mushin's tower or from bloodshade harbor (don't remember which one). Think you can get it from a trader at the entrance.
Most gold are the 4 light blue dungeon-quests, the two blackram supply chain things, mushin's tower and bloodshade harbour. Outside of that the quests in misty woods. In general with how high valued moon tears are atm, farming pigsty and brightstone ruins is probably the fastest way to generate money. You might wanna try out the 4-man versions for even more money. Also if you are f.e. a summoner you can pretty much solo clear Hall of Ogong and just get the tears yourself, if you can do it at a decent speed that's roughly 2 gold per 15 minutes, which is unbeatable.
Upgrade stuff is blackram supply chain for every accessory, the belt and later on the weapon, but since siren accessory upgrades cost roughly 60 gold (per upgrade!), I'd just either farm the belt and bracelet, or just normally go for the next weapon.
On a side note: I liked most of the story development in the last continent (except for the side quests in hogshead), so I recommend to play through the story first.

Pierce isnt luck based. Have read that defensive stats take the cake in pvp, so crit is prolly very low. I've only played faction pvp and there it's all about stunlocking people to death, so that tells a similar story.
Don't forget PvP arena now that you are 45. If you are any good its another great way to make Gold and get EXP. Just hitting gold rank can get you 30 soul stones for 2k beans.
I tried this with some friends at release and have since dropped it.
To put it bluntly, I hate the combat. Why does a pvp game have to be focused around stunlocking? It's not fun to play. Fighting is interrupted by 10 second stunlock cut scenes like those bullshit characters in Mugen have.
I've played Tera so I can address that comparison. Tera is a PvE dress up game with bad PvP. BnS is a PvP arena game with bad PvE. Tera's combat is based on reading and dodging attacks. In essence you focus more on what the boss is doing in Tera. In BnS you focus more on your own combos. A blitzkrieg of lifesteal, spam, and stuns if you will. Thankfully both allow you to make cute little girl characters and live out your lifelong fantasy.
The combat of BnS is very similar to that of a fighting game which is why I and many others love it. Just like a fighting game you have to worry about spacing and trying to open you're opponent up. Making them use there escapes or what would be like a combo breaker or burst from fighting games. Then most classes you have to practice and learn the combos to be effective. So if you don't like fighting games I understand why BnS combat is not you're preference. Going with this trend it makes total sense why most of the combos are focused around stunlocking. That's what a combo is, a series of hits you cannot escape. I haven't played another MMO that comes close to the fun or skill level of the PvP in BnS.
I never was much of a fighting game type, Played some Tekken 3 about 15 years ago. Though this game reminds me more of Smash Bros, which i played and enjoyed quite a bit on N64.
Will try to get to Gold with my FM to buy cheap soulstones, guess that should be possible. Haven't tried Mushin Tower yet, but will definitely do so this weekend. The 4 Blues are pretty easy and is some fast money/ exp which is nice
The next Blade & Soul content update releases in just a couple weeks.
After unlocking the secret techniques of the Hongmoon Clan, and bringing the Blackram Pirates to their knees, even greater challenges await on March 2 with the release of our second content update: Unchained.
The final floor (Floor 8) of the first section of Mushin’s Tower opens, and the Naryu Labyrinth will be unlocked for those brave enough to face the trials within. In addition, players will be able to wield dark powers as the Warlock, a new class ready to be mastered.
I'd like to play this game, however the installer keeps trying to install on my OS drive instead of my general application drive. Anyone able to help me fix this?
Edit: Never mind, I am apparently awful at computers >_>
My main source of income in very seasonal so I have a ton of free time in the winter hah. That being said leveling to 45 only takes a couple days for me. I'm not really into the PvE so all but my destroyer is in crap gear to just PvP arena in.

Same here!
I haven't played much yet, only lvl 30ish. Been too busy so B&S is on my "To Do List".
But I must say, I'm a bit sad that NA players don't seem to be enjoying it as much as Asia. Most korean MMO's in NA die off simply because NA players don't play them as intended (for example in Aion - when it was new to NA when I played it at least - people were completely scared to fight players at all, they only did the PvPvE dungeon to get "safe" rank points, and once players were high rank they NEVER PvPed.). Archeage was similar, NA came out all people did was fish, farm PvE for their gear, and PvP was pretty barren. The NA versions were so sad in comparison...
B&S being focused on 1v1 PvP, is actually a game that CAN be played as intended, finally. But it seems NA players just aren't in to that much either...
Damn shame too, because from what I played, from the combat alone it seems clearly better than most MMO's popular in NA.
I just hope B&S survives out here for a long time!
I played and enjoyed this game for a couple weeks but it lost my interest as well. The PvE isn't interesting to me and is incredibly grindy, more so than the other games I've played. The PvP is the main reason anyone would play this game over anything else, but it's plagued by lag and bots until you reach a high enough level. There is definitely a lot of skill to it but I guess I'm not really the solo 1v1 kind of person any more.
NA people that play MMOs were more into PvE since before WoW ^^; . EU are the PvP nerds ... which is why I prefer NA servers. More fun to play against casuals that enjoy the game, rather then bug abusing, ebaying, hacking adult babies that think they are good players because 90% of the playerbase can't pass the gear check to kill them.
Ugh luckily Blade and Soul hasn't reached that point yet.
the hardest things to decide on were the breast orientation, and head size (where i spent a lot of time experimenting with the rest of the body size also) i went for lighter brown hair in the end as its slighter cuter ingame in the end
I felt just as optimistic going into this game but upon playing for a certain period of time i realized it wasn't for me. I could be wrong but I didn't like the gear setup, I like games where you'll find specific pieces for weapon, boots, pants, shirt, gloves etc. With B&S its just one item (wardrobe) and from what i remember it didn't even give you stats.

You can play this casual or hardcore, main difference beeing time/money invested. Thing is, if you are a casual: - Don't expect to be walking around in the best gear a week after release - Don't expect to do the hardest dungeons right of the bat - Don't expect to be the PvP Master.... this takes training, a lot of training. You don't play Grandmaster league in SC2 from playing 1hour a day, do you?
The whining in this game is just too damn high, official forum is full of this ^^
Oh forgot: Yes there are bots but they make stuff cheaper so i like it ^^ Perfomance is a real issue, game/ graphic optimization is not done very well
That's me btw. Nowhere near hardcore, still having fun

There are a loooooooot of costumes but true, it's only main clothing, head, face that can be "customized".Also you can transmute stuff. But thats all purely cosmetic/ optic. The gear stats (soulshieds) have to be found, combined, fusioned and all that stuff.

Oh yes, I'm very much agreeing that the pvp has a very high skill ceiling and I didn't expect to get any where near it as a casual. That said the experience of a casual in pvp is atrocious. I remember counting the number of matches that I faced bots in and it was about 40%. That's not at all fun.

I'm guessing you play on NA?
In EU there are far less bots. I'm on my way too Plat right now and i have faced maybe 10% bots. One thing maybe worth mentioning is: There almost no open world PvP right now. Most of the time one faction is just owning the other so hard that there is no fight. AFAIK, in Korea/ Japan/... the have introduced some 3v3/ 6v6 battlegrounds, which could be really fun. specially for casuals with 1v1 anxiety ^^
Hmm.. maybe it's a time thing then. I often play on "rush hour" after work. Guessing there are just more players online, giving me less bots, dunno.
Also bots are like free Beans -> Free Soulstones, at least for me since Destroyer are pretty much the easiest match up for FMs so i don't care much. I mean ofc it's bad with the bots but i have never seen a F2P MMO without Bots/ Multi Boxing/...

Yes, but at least in other MMOs such as WoW it's usually in battlegrounds that don't matter and not in the highly competitive arena. Nor do the bots actually hack and bend the rules of the game, which they very much do in BnS.

Ye the hacks end exploits is something else entirely. And not restricted to bots i might add. But to be fair, at least those are getting fixed by NC or looked at. And with the new Zone, they did some countermeasures for bots:
- Soulstones from arena cannot be bought anymore due to lack of dragon certificates (former blue dungeon) - New dungeon have some anti-botting in place, like specific jumps/ levers/ doors and stuff and also more "instanced doors/ portals"
Thats why they try to get SS now from the PvP dailys
I just wanted to say that i've given up on this for now. Got boring pretty quickly IMO. I don't mind the grind and all but ... dunno. Why play if it's no fun right?
