A philosophically analytic approach to fps is one of finding deeper understanding for the larger picture of what is trying to be accomplished and trying to create a system for play. Jon Wendell doesn't just aim and move, he thinks hard about the different maps and imbalanced beforehand and has longterm strategic vision. Most FPS players cannot think past the moment, the best, the ones who are able to stay on top, in multiple games, have a philosophical schema for how the duel is to be played.
