They're COMPLETELY different. Seriously, how do you not understand this? Artest fucking ELBOWED THE GUY TO THE HEAD when he wasn't even trying to make a fucking play for something.
Like HOW DO YOU THINK THIS CASE IS THE SAME AS ANYTHING BEFORE? Not that I dont think Artest's red misting isnt worse. But I hope your not saying its apparantly better to do it as long as you disguise it as a play, because thats not really that hard to do. So yes motives are questionable in any case. Artest is just dumb as shit, or well crazy. Umm no, I was making the distinction between actually playing a physical sport and assault. This was assault. Well thats my point isnt it. You say hes making a play, but he could just be using that as a chance to hurt a player. Thats a cheap paper thin wall to hide behind imo when you hurt someone. Players know how to foul hard. Putting your hands to another persons face from behind isnt a tad bit overboard ? In an All Star game ? Think about it ..Thats my point "Oh its Wade, and he was just trying to stop Kobe." "O its Artest, hes a crazy violent mofo that wants to kill people, no play was involved." In his case people wouldnt be any less incensed even if he did it making a play, because its Ron. (while these are both probably true, Id hesitate to go nuts in either case.) Basically I'm in agreement. The only reason people are calling for the gallows for Artest is because it's Artest. If it was anyone else the "let's not go nuts" argument would have already been accepted. Apparently it's ok to go nuts here because we think the guy is nuts. You are missing the point, we do not go crazy on Artest because of what he is (atleast not everyone). We are discussing what he DID. And yes he did wanted to hit Harden once he got bumped. No one is trying to say that he wanted to hit him right from the dunk, which is what you don't seem to understand. Actually Roggay there are some guys in here that seem to be implying that. I wish I could have a separate thread to argue this with people that don't have predisposed hatred for Artest because it's a whole other thing with them. The guys arguing that all LA fans condone violence are not even worth replying to. Nah, but it's absolutely hilarious that you can actually defend something like this (and you just happen to be a huge lakers fanboy). But yeah, I mean, it's not like a history of repeated violence means anything for future incidents! The world doesn't work that way at all! This is exactly what I mean. Oh he has a history of violence so CLEARLY that means that this hit against Harden was 100% intentional. Let's not take into consideration any other evidence of the event or any other testimony, he's guilty because he has a history. Right? You're pretty much the only one to actually think that was an unintentional elbow. He fucking bumped into him, knew exactly where his head was, AND EVEN AIMED HIGHER. Please show me a SINGLE video of someone celebrating by swinging their elbows past shoulder height and I'd be inclined to believe you.
to be fair, i think the kong dance may include such motions :D

Why did the Warriors win tonight?
While intentionally losing is never good, the Warriors have ZERO incentive to win any games for rest of this year. It just baffles me why they wouldn't chuck their absolute scrubs in for the last quarter.
Top 7 pick, no top 7 pick.
Hmmmm, tough choice. Solid win Warriors. Clowns.

You aren't getting it.
I'm not saying it was unintentional I'm just saying I'm not convinced it was. It isn't clear to me.
This whole argument started because I said he shouldn't be suspended for more than a few games while others were arguing he should be banned from the playoffs.
My stance hasn't changed there, you cannot ban someone from the entire playoffs for something like this, especially when previous cases have had lighter punishments.
The only argument that has been presented to contradict that is that because Artest has a history he should be treated special and given a harsher punishment.
I'm not buying that, and I don't think the NBA will either.

I think they just wanted to beat Minnesota even if it was against their best interest.
That or Mark Jackson is just trying to save his job.

But... the whole scene could of happened so fast for Artest and maybe it's typical for an NBA player to show emotion after doing some crazy dunk?

I've been reading the past few pages off and on. Like I said, Lakers fans. Not surprised.

They're still not as bad as Knicks fans.
Although it's pretty close.

He's the kind of guy who sees a rapist on TV and wonders if the victim was wearing a revealing dress.

More like domestic abuse. "It looked like his girlfriend asked for it. Not saying him hitting her is ok, that's definitely a mistake. Maybe it just happened too fast cause people were too emotional."

I dont get the debate here. He threw the elbow intentionally, i hope thats obvious. Why he did it? He got instantly mad at someone bumping him/walking closely, maybe he was high on testosterone after dunking. So maybe his mind was clouded with rage and he didnt plan to hit anyone 1 second prior to that. How the fuck does that make a difference? If he didnt want to do it but did it doesnt it prove hes insane and cant control himself?
I dont care what they do to Artest. If hes out for playoffs Im happy, this guy is a beast defender and will hurt many teams, I wouldnt want to play vs him in finals. Anything less than that i dont care, this league is inconsistent in punishing these players anyways. With artest u get both good and bad, remember u laughed the other day at his goofy ass? Now its payback time

Orlando is going to lose out this season. I wonder if the Knicks will win out.

Just how serious this is,

Horrible to watch it. [bold]I've been in the ER of many hospitals and i'll tell you right now, i've seen people die from a blow to the head like this. In fact, if Harden "clots up" he may still have life altering results if not life threatening. Harden is not out of the woods yet. Let's see what happens. [/bold]My take. Ron Artest should be banned from playing again in the NBA. He should be up on charges. If he comes back in a couple of games, shame on the NBA and front office. This is telling kids all over the country, that they can do the same thing. NO SIR. Ron Artest must be made the example. Give him the death penalty. No returning to the NBA. Plus his history is atrocias. Banned for LIFE!
EDIT: Nevermind. Read it as though the person was a nurse in the hospital.
|
You're reposting some dude that makes a claim anyone on the internet can make just because he agrees with you?
edit for clarification- yes they dude claims that Harden's injury can be serious, but all his credentials are is that he's "been to an ER" a bunch of times. That claim alone even if it can be proven doesn't make you that much more credible, and that's leaving out the fact that it's the internet, and anyone can claim to be an expert in anything. He may be some OKC fan that wants to make Artest look as bad as possible, or is just exaggerating his claims. I'm not saying it's not possible that Harden could be seriously injured, but to point at some random guy on the internet and say that the injury is serious just because he said so? That makes no sense.

Mentioning of the possible injury that Harden might substain from examples of other with head injuries.
