They wanted to use it for Beasley but that deal feel through.
gets thrown under the bus for not staying in shape while trying to negotiate for a new season. poor guy, I love to hate him, and now he is on my favourite love to hate teams.

they have a bunch of rookie contracts about to come up, need to solidify them.

It's not just being in shape, it's that his best shape is still an old man. It's not like this was the first year young, quick PGs tore the Lakers apart. It became routine in the playoffs the last few years.

oh, I know, I just can't help but wonder if he would be seen as such a liability if he had ample time to prepare for the season.
personally I'm scared when he pulls up for a three, and he was still kobes right hand (which has been used a lot since his divorce, I might add), and a contributor to a playoff team. plus this isn't their first time ditching him hoping he comes back in free agency
Don't get Denver.. Sign Nene for 14 mill only to dump him a few months laters for McGee of all people? They must see something in him only his Mum does.
Sessions is a great pick-up for the Lakers. Really underrated player who is worthy of a starting spot on an NBA team (but stuck behind Irving so an abvious move for Cavs who would be happy to have Walton's expiring).
Warriors did good with R Jeff. Got rick of CapnJack and brought back a guy who can still at least spread the floor with his outside shooting.
I love Paul Allen and the Blazers. That guy knows how to win a small market franchise. If only the Bucks could take a leaflet out of his book I'd be a happier man.
Other trades a fairly bleh. It's a shame Wallace couldn't land on a Playoff team. He's a really nice piece now stuck in NBA shitsville. Deron's gonna walk from there ASAP IMO. The Nets just can't get things done. Edit: Shit, the Nets gave up their first round pick too?! WTF?! For Gerald Wallace?!?! Terrrrrrrible for NJ. What were they thinking? If Deron walks in FA they're so screwed. No high pick and Gerald Wallace as their best player. Holy shitballs. They better be really good at convincing Deron they're going to sign Dwight in FA... Only reason I can see them doing this.
Doubt Nick Young will work out at the Clips, but he's worth a shot I guess to see what he can contribute to a Playoff run now they're sans Chauncey. I doubt he'll be re-signed though.
The two biggest moves for me are Sessions to the Lakers and Jax to the Spurs in terms of immediate impact. Lakers will be a lot stronger now and have a good young PG to run the show. Not sure how the Spurs will use Jax. He could have impact in a 6th man type role, but from what I've seen from him this year he's done. Time will tell.
McGee to the Nuggets had nothing to do with getting McGee, it had everything to do with shedding itself of Nenes contract.
Lawson, Gallo, Wilson Chandler, Fernandez, Koufas, Faried are all going to be asking for extensions, or contracts (they have a few years for Faried yet, but they should extend him come time)
It was either sign Nene and trade him for some cap space this summer, which they did, or keep Nene and risk losing their young core of Lawson, Gallo, Chandler. I'd take the former* personally.
And Gerald Wallace only has one year left on his contract, he can tough it our in NJ for 11 million xD NJ also cant sign Dwight this year, and he opted into his contract and is a Magic player until 2013. Perhaps Wallace is their chip to try and trade for Dwight next season.
I know why they did it, but I'm just wondering why they bothered to sign him up for so much only to flip him a few months later. Surely it would have been easier to let him walk. Unless they were waiting to see how Faried and Koufas went?
Some dope will no doubt overpay McGee so I doubt he'll even be with the Nuggets for that long.
I dunno, just seems to be an abstract way of shedding salary when they could have just let Nene walk in FA (they obv saw him as expendable...).
As a Wiz fan I'm more depressed that we couldn't get rid of Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I dunno. Need Ernie fired and hope we get D'Antoni. I think Booker and Wall and Crawford would be able to PNR D'Antoni's system well.

Walk to a potential opponent (Houstan) or sign and trade him to a shitty team for assets, (in this case an expiring contract).
they didn't know if Gallo, Lawson, Chandler, etc, would bloom into the players they have, they only showed potential last season, not promise like they have this season.
Plus, having him signed, instead of letting him walk, allowed them to compete and sell tickets until the shed themselves of his contract.
