I think it's Valve's job to fix these things. To me, if something can be done in matchmaking without cheating, it's fair game in tournaments and Valve should fix the shit. Perhaps an unpopular opinion but yeah, whatever.

I agree in general. Some bugs are so broken that they ruin the game when they are used though. I don't think what was used in this game falls into that category. Just as siege tank dropping in SC:BW on spots that the enemy can't attack (from the ground) wasn't against the rules.

If there isn't a specific rule against "pixel walking" in this event then the first complaint should have been thrown out and the game result stand. I based earlier arguing on that rule being there and fnatic breaking a rule.

Replaying the whole map is bullshit. Either start at 12-3 or remove rounds where each team abused. Same penalty for boosting on a spot on GR and looking one exit being unkillable (while not event shooting), and abusing whole half and seeing all the map? Worst admin decision ever. And that's coming from a tournament admin.

An interesting difference here is that navi were fan favorites up against the faceless chinese enemy. Whereas here fnatic have little to no leeway with the community due to their current reputation. I wonder how these two incidents would've panned out with different/reversed teams.

The only way i can see fnatic coming out of this not terribly, is if after winning 3 rounds as T they just afk/shoot each other for the rest of the half.

Agreed. They should have stood by the HLTV tweet during the game that no rules were broken.

The stuff they are talking about now is so minuscule that they can't enforce them in other games.

Smells like bullshits. I'm not surprised tho. I cheered for fnatic but now I hope ldlc stomps them.
So why does the dh bracket show fnatic advancing 2-1? I thought the match wasn't played yet.

except fountain hooking was a known bug way before ti3 and dh had forbidden illegal boosting in previous tournaments.

Was it? I can't recall anything about fountain hooking pre-TI3

At least LDLC gets a rematch, more than TF got unfortunately. To make it even worse valve goes and patches it after the tournament dispelling all the BS about it being intended.

Yip it was a known bug basically since TI, one of the things that made Dendi pudge more famous.

The difference being that there was no TI bookrule that said you can't fountain hook, I thought it was fucking bullshit but it was within the rules of the game.

It was way back in Dota 1.

Well the problem with it in DOta 2 was that the hook became invisible when you get recalled so it made it infinitely more powerful but yes there was nothing in the rulebook saying you couldn't do it as dota 2 was so buggy(Still is) that it's impossible to rule out every bug. Hell enfeeble working on Sylla bear's bear was a bug that had huge impact on the game and has since been incorporated into it.

So fnatic does something which isn't against the rules (and which LDLC even did themselves!) and everyone hates on them. When Navi turns around a game using fountain hooks though, people think it's awesome...

As far as I can see the original result should stand.
