my bet is they'll have microtransactions with gun skins and female characters, cause both have existed from day1.

They need to improve VAC significantly before it hits that market. I generally only play the competitive playlist and twice yesterday I had a guy on MY team wallhacking -- he was telling us where to go and calling out the opponents position from across the map, admitted to it, and proceeded to get about 40 kills despite having left for a few rounds. And I'm only double ak. It gets worse as you go higher (I used to be Legendary Eagle Master) so I can't imagine what happens once it would go F2P.

At what time should I get into competitive matchmaking and (being a long time DotA player) are there specific roles every player has or just everyone does what they want with minimal communication? Some general pointers about matchmaking would be a help too ![]() 2. When is the best time to get into ESEA, as in at what time in my evolving as a player can I gain the most from playing on ESEA? You can do Matchmaking straight away, it's essentially a bad mixture of pubbing/pugging. It's good enough for what it is, I never had high expectations for it though, so more people are disappointed by it than I am. (As an old 1.6 competitive player, I don't really care about a matchmaking system, although I do understand its importance these days). There are some cheaters every now and then, and sometimes you get matched with or against complete tards. It is what it is. When you feel you know enough about the maps and the completely new shooting patterns and are bored/fed up with MM, then you're ready for ESEA.Do keep in mind however, this is a completely different game in terms of shooting and techniques, so try not to get too wrapped up with "how things should work" compared to 1.6. (Took me like 5 months to get over it.)

But I think F2P without access to MM unless purchase is the right move. Item system is good either way.

Also the p2000 is a solid gun, its rate of fire is just awful. The problem is how silly running glock semi is. :D And I don't know how I feel about the F2P thing. On one hand, I don't really care, could only be good, right? How could Valve mess it up? Then I think about how many silly things are wrong with this game that could be fixed ever so easily. Companies like Grinding Gear Games with Path of Exile kind of showed me what the standard used to be. I don't know, I've had glitched left handed models for over a week now. That's kind of retarded.

Are new 'official' maps frequent? There are several minor patches released fairly often, but they're mostly server-side stuff or workshop stuff (maps) and every.... 2-3 months? it seems there's a more major patch regarding weapons/mechanics/etc. Assumedly there's another big way on the way 2-3 months for a BIG patch. But generally they add minor changes or bug fixes every week and a half or so. GOTV is slowly getting better. I think the next big patch is going to make or break this game (F2P, silencers, maps, etc.)

This article is the best I could find but it just seems like boring drama. :\ It is just rumors right now. I doubt it will be F2P in any time soon, expect 2 years at least. TF2 was released in 2007, then went F2P in 2011. Right now they have a good amount of growth in numbers for CS:GO.
