I read off a few forums on steam and some CS:GO sites that the sound in this game is similar to CS:Source(which I did not play because I was not a big fan of) in the manner that the sound travels through open space, unlike in CS 1.6 where the sounds travel even through walls? I wanted to confirm if this was true as I loved how the CS 1.6 sound was and currently playing CS:GO I am extremely confused half the timre as to where people are coming from. The sound in csgo is really annoying, haven't played too many games yet, and I always get confused by the nades. I can hear my teammates grenades on long when I'm playing B site on dust2. The sound got a bit better after the last update, but it could defiantly need some more work.
One can definitely hear people running on the outside, from inside a building, which shouldn't be possible. I'm getting used to it.

I really like the sound since the last patch. I find I can tell almost exactly when someone's about to move around a corner, much better than I could after 100 hours of CSS. Handy when you're playing at 250ms.
Not sure if it's realistic, but it's certainly useful.

Yeah the sound gets some getting used to. You can definitely hear gun shots from much farther away than in CSS, and the distance > footstep noise ratio doesn't seem to fade anywhere close to what it is in CSS.
Also, the colt recoil is much more controlled than in CS, making it quite powerful, whereas the AK recoil seems about the same, if not even a little worse from CSS given how I have trouble getting 3-4 shot bursts off.
I gotta say though, whatever complaints I have against GO pales in comparison to how much I love the Classic Competitive matchmaking queue. I don't really know how ELO works, and I do get matched with retarded people sometimes, but just being able to play on a 5v5 server with FF on without auto-16k money makes it really enjoyable for me.

I was curious as to what people's experiences were with elo btw? At this point, my elo log/symbol/emblem thing has not changed, and all I play is classic competitive, either winning 15-1 or something, or just winning, or just losing, but with a winrate of just over 60%, and a kdr of circa 1.5, though it varies from game to game (again, one set went 27-4-3, and another went 11-2-12, but more often than not positive kdr). Anyone been recently promoted as it were, and how long did it take/what did it take/when did it happen?

Everything I've heard is that any sort of elo/ranking system isn't enabled or functional yet.

as you can see, I've been promoted
I've been promoted and demoted several times, mostly depending on how much I've had to drink
ESEA is doing wonders for my aim though

I'm so inconsistent, I need to go on a few hour splurge of DM and just practice my gun control and aiming.

What does ESEA do? I'd be interested in improving my aim. (total newb here)

ESEA is full of tryhards
Which is cool cause you won't get stuck with an afk guy, a moron, a mic spammer, and a bot
So you get lots of good practice shooting at people who are pretty good at killing you back

where are the streams? twitch channels have like 0 viewers plus a lot of them play on consoles zzz.
|
I stopped streaming 4 months into beta because it really seemed no one was interested in watching streams. I will be streaming our matches and scrims though, as my team seems supportive of it. I just need to figure out how to fix my audio levels. >:O I think my mic is just shitty for streaming.
Edit: I strongly advocate ESEA, if you're a competitive centric person. If you're easily offended, or not "internet hardened" or still think pubs are fun, then maybe it's not for you.... yet! :D

I'm not surprised by the lack of viewers, even the NiP stream didn't have that many. There's not much to learn from them. Some hiding spots or jumps maybe, but they will get figured out in publics sooner or later anyway.
At least, that's why I'm not watching them.

Hey i'm really interested in that ESEA stuff but I'm from Europe so I barely have heard about it . AFAIK its something like ESL but better? Thing is I dont have any team and most of my friends still play 1.6 , so do they provide something for solo players? Will I be matched with only ger people or with NA too? Is there a ranking / matchmaking system ?

1) Aim at the head.
2) Aim at the lower left of the body and spray.

Well if you're not good at tapping or stop firing it walks right up to the head by the third bullet anyways.
