If you had to pick a Main and a pocket character for tournaments. WHO WOULD THEY BE?

If you wanna win the tourney, play Akuma I'm having character dilemma myself atm. I like playing Cammy, but Juri is just so I still play Ryu vs. people way better than me like my irl friends though ![]()

I'd main Oni because he's my favorite character, but I'd probably have a pocket top-tier for those really bad matchups. Maybe not top-tier so much but someone who'd cover the gaps. Safe charger like Guile, or grappler like Gief. Or a safe A-tier like Fei. Actually Oni with pocket Fei sounds nice.

Dude never tries to block any mixup, wakeup with everything only to get it OS'd/straight up stuffed, no sense of defense/respect on wakeup. Holy shit dude's only an execution monster. Besides the fact that it was Infiltration made him look so free/he was down with the flu, I've always noticed his playstyle but it was every more apparent in a long set like that.

My opinion is that, aside from flu and whatnot Latif hasn't really been keeping up for fighting games for school, and there is zero Akumas in the US to play against, so he didn't know the new setups and never really fought against old ones either that he's afraid to block or just wanted to see what he could get away with. My guess is both. Well, now he knows.

But realistically, it's whoever your favorite and best character is. Where is this ninja matchup list people keep referring to?

I feel like the Eventhubs list is already pretty outdated. I really like the one that Cel.erity linked above. Also thank you for reposting that video, I haven't seen it in a while hahahaha

Makoto & Ibuki always on the high B tiers and yet to see any good players show up with them in tournaments.

Really? I feel like there's quite a few Ibuki's. I get what you're getting at though. Especially Abel is a great example from that list. The reason he's highly ranked, but not "top-tier" so to speak, is because the match ups against OTHER top-tiers is what's most important, because those are who are going to show up the most. While some characters have a higher score, their match ups against the top 10 or so are almost universally bad. Though to be honest I feel like Seth ALMOST has the same issue (especially by the numbers), but his playstyle is so radical.

Maybe it's just a coincidence with what I've happened to watch haha.
