I don't expect to read a book and become a pro poker player, but before I get more hands on experience I'd like to learn more about the game.
Can anyone reccomend a really good book?

Other good Books you may consider in the future: Theory of Poker : Dave Slanksky(spelling) Hold Em: Dave Slansky(spelling) Hold Em For Advanced: Players Dave Slansky(Spelling) there is also Texas Hold Em for Dummies, which has a loot of advice =]

I mostly read all of the thing online, that anyone can read, and i still beat a lot of player. Althought, slansky must be the best i guess. Is there a book about NL HE?? slanky is limit i think Here are some stats for this month, without ever having read any '''official'' book. hand played : 2243, NL HE 25/50 cent 44BB//100 hand ~~ BB= 50 cent here. Total : 500 $ motto, experience beat book.

Following the style of SuperSystems Nolimit section as a beginner sounds very risky to me ![]()

I assume you're talking about Hold 'em. I've never read anything about Pot nor No Limit poker. I think the book by Reuben and Ciaffone is supposed to be pretty good. Also maybe try McEvoy and Cloutier's. EDIT: If you're talking about limit then pick up Small Stakes Hold 'em by Ed Miller and S&M. I absolutely LOVE this book. But if you're just starting you might want to try Lee Jones's Winning Low Limit Hold 'em first.

The best books u can read (considering no-limit) are not books that tell you to play hand XX in a certain way, books like that will intruduce maybe one interesting concept u didn't know before, specially because the correct way to play a hand will change from limit to limit and such. Just read The Theory of Poker by Sklansky, you'll enjoy it and it will help your game.
