Good god. I hope he isn't there for games 3-6.

I don't think you can be a top 10, top 15, maybe not even a top 20 when your team has to hide you on defense.

7foot fadeaway jumpshot shooter. if you double he'll just pass to the outside and they have pretty damn good 3 point shooters. Mavs have a pretty damn good team/ strat. If hes unguardable, okc needs to produce on offense and you need to get the ball to KD!

That is one reason I don't like Durant. You can foul him by just breathing on him and then he gets pissed off when he actually gets called for a foul. He'll then go and whine for a flagrant on something totally standard. He doesn't have a squeaky clean image like most people think, not on the court at least.
I also hate Westbrook. There's a Westbrook at each gym you go to or any pickup game you enter. They think they're the next MJ and they try to do everything themselves even when they're not even the best player on their team. He also whines a ton.
I guess I'm just an okc hater. I do want them in the finals though because I think it would be a fun match up for the heat. Lebron and Wade vs Durant and Westbrook. Would be a sweet tag team match.

I think that would go for most people who ever played in the NBA.. you know, except people like the "A-Train" Gilmore (though those guys played center)..

Someone didn't watch the Los Angeles series...

Such a dumb boring game. 79 free throws? Wtf is that shit... The horrible calls went both ways, but honestly some of the calls on Sefalosha when he was on Dirk were so dumb.
Should have just made that a game of elimination =/

In his current form, i dont think anyone in the NBA today can properly guard Dirk, maybe Howard and that is very debatable.
The last person i truly believe could shut him down completly is Hakeem The F' Dream, otherwise i dont see any player doing that when he is playing like this.

I did, and Pau's failures on offense had as much to do with his own slumping the "defense" Dirk was playing on him. Before this year the Mavs had been a pretty awful team defensively--the addition of Chandler shored up a lot of their holes in this regard, and it made Dirk's shortcomings as a defender less obvious, but they're still there...

Dirk is totally underrated defense-wise. Yesterday he also got 4 blocks ! but ppl tend to overlook his improved defense because of various reasons... But one thing for sure is that his team doesn't need to hide him on defense.

Pau wasn't himself, but it's hard to argue Dirk wasn't playing good defense. Almost all of Pau's misses were tough, consisted shots. At this point, saying he's a defensive liability is just wrong.
Besides Mavs have been pretty good defensively for a few years now, it's a misconception that they still haven't shaken off.

Dirk had an amazing game, but I think people aren't realizing that a large part of what made him so good was his ability to make plays. There are more than a few players that are able to score on any defender 1on1, but Dirk really impressed me with the way he reacted to every defensive adjustment that was made by OKC and made the right passes each time. Ultimately, basketball is a team game, and Dirk's improved ability to set up his teammates and make them play better makes him a more complete offensive player than he's been in previous seasons. It makes it much harder to double him, and allows him to comfortably operate his 1on1 game.
People also need to give credit to Carlisle and the team's management in putting together a very good roster that fits so well together and plays within a cohesive gameplan that maximizes their talents. Dirk's teammates have stepped up again and again, making teams pay whenever they try to focus their defense too much on Dirk. Kidd, Terry, Peja and even DeShawn have shot well from behind the arc, which has spread defenses out and given Dirk room to operate 1on1. Barea has been incredible with his ability to break down defenses and create offense for the team off simple pick-and-roll/pop plays. I remember a part of the game last night where it looked like Dirk was getting tired from creating the offense for each possession, and Barea did a great job of taking over those duties. Marion, Chandler and Haywood have done a great job as the workhorses and garbage guys, controlling the paint on both ends. A very solidly built team for sure.

If they are able to keep this team together for another few years, they could make some serious runs. They look great right now and they are missing a star player in Caron Butler.
