alrighty. followed my plan to do tomb.
blinked my way over the zot trap and fought my way trough. mostly went fine, hit a dangerous spot in the long way around with all the greater mummys when suddenly 3 stepped into vision at once.teleported out and did it 2nd try.
tomb3 was a HUGE stairdance fest where i still dropped below 100 several times. things went better when i got the idea to haste my angels, might sound stupid to you veterans but it for me it was clutch. managed to clear tomb with a huge cost of permafood (lotsa resting,summoning ,casting and mutation berserk).
now only the fire hell left. way down was quick and easy. down there i got in a really sticky situation after fighting some tormentors when hells decided to spawn a huge pack including hellions just when i start resting at 60hp.but cleansing flame+heal wand saved me. could fight asmodeus alone who didnt sruvive long vs hasted angel+hasted me.
since zot was already cleared the rest was just a matter of fighting 2more panlords and escaping.
so it worked, first 15 rune win a week after first 3rune win.huge thx to evryone for all the help !

You get 20 tries at the first part, which is reading the entrances of lair and orc-- and where most people die.

So I'm playing some Kobold Berserkers and my plan is to go EV based through the lair, then try to switch to heavy armor as I progressed from there. Now that I'm at this point, I'm wondering how these values compare. Here's my two options right now...
+3 Leather Armor which puts me at 15 AC, 14% GDR and 28 EV.
+1 Splint Mail which puts me at 21 AC, 34% GDR, 18 EV.
I'm still feeling like the Leather Armor comes out to be superior because I still have decent AC from the . That being the case, when do you guys think it would be advantageous to start gearing into heavy armor?

A reasonable rule-of-thumb is that whatever gives you the best sum of AC + EV is probably what you want to wear. Probably this isn't quite great because +1 AC is usually better than +1 EV (30/10 defenses are better than 10/30, for instance) but it's good enough.
Anyway as kobe I would aim for mottled/fire/ice dragon armour probably (or pearl if you happen to get really lucky).

mmhh any tips for a drtm? really want that class going but usually i have problems at the start of lair (outside of many stupid nonpatience deaths and a d:1 giant frog  ). the dmg i do is nice but things kill me so fast.
even got "stuck" 2 times already with no where to go where i wouldnt die.
i get the start is not so great. then once spider is reliable its quite good, hit hard with poison and run away from evrything. after that when i get bladehands/iceform my dmg output is quite huge but i take lotsa dmg from most things and be super careful that i dont get ripped by a slightly ood monster instantly.
also for a ds of kiku what start is recommended and go m&f for superspeed pain or polearms for nice reach utility?
/edit god fuck this. had a pretty good drtm running. statue form,haste, just waited with branches cause of a banishing unique and i had no MR. no im dead cause a fucking sekelton warrior hits me with a crossbow for 32 dmg through 25ac. what the hell.
super avoidable but i honestly didnt expect to get such a huge hit at ALL

BMPenner: drtm: remember that you are a melee character with spells, not a spellcaster who also melees (i.e. train UC and dodging and fighting as your primary skills, not tmut).
Spider form is overall the best transmutation in the game because of its absolutely ridiculous power when you first learn it, and it stays quite good for a long time. You do not really need any other transmutation until after lair at the earliest, though I often pick up ice form in lair (it's good vs mambas/spiny frogs, if nothing else). Best god imo is fedhas, other good gods in no particular order: makhleb oka yred nemelex ely xom, maybe one or two I forgot
Best ds of kiku is probably dsie imo (good chance at simulacrum, necro and ice are fine together anyway) but most of them are fine. Any weapon type is fine, but remember to make your pain weapon early so it's useful (as in, don't wait for a dwhip if you're going maces: just pain brand a whip).
