Happened a lot in alpha, I'm not sure if they fixed it in beta but I avoid quick match in just about any FPS I can because it tendst o put me in a server with 2x the ping i could be getting i f i joined a server manually
+1. This worked for me. I forgot to mention, once you've done the above sort the servers by ping and join the first server on the list with available slots (lowest ping)
Your algorithm dealio should flow like this
Open server browser Filter settings: a) No Empty servers b) No Full servers c) No Passworded servers d) Hardcore servers (if you don't want to play hardcore or want to play only hardcore) e) Always play with PB on Apply filters Refresh server list Sort by ping (lowest to highest) Join server with available slots for you and your friends on a map that you want to play
The above goes for pretty much any game. In the BF3 alpha map won't really matter since there's only one.

But overall, it looked great. Just want to see how conquest mode and maps plays out.. what mean heavy?

I mean that it takes a lot from your computer. I'm running Q9950, 4gb RAM, 4850 ATI and everything on low (i mean everything) and it's OK but it still looks like i have everything on ultra. FPS is decent on but it still could be better. I see a lot of things which decreases the FPS, and what you could easily take off just from options, but there isn't any option to turn these off.

So any more first impressions / comparisons to BC2 ? Improved netcode, better maps, different flow in gameplay, vehicles etc?
Or is the game just utter trash like Grettin makes it seem like.

Applied to the platoon as Haeskre!

Or is the game just utter trash like Grettin makes it seem like. Game is quite a bit more fast paced than BC2. Gunplay is a little more cod-esque than BC2.

There is only ONE map and ONE game mode available. That map is Metro and it's a rush map. Of course since i dislike Rush as a game mode a lot, my opinion isn't worth taking if you liked BFBC2.
I'm still waiting for EA to surprise us and give us Caspian Border and conquest to test out.
Recoil is very good so far, and hit boxes seem to be the best in BF3 than any other BF so far.

Ok, I'm not sure what is going on here. 4th time in a row it's crashed me back to battlelog saying server timed out. And this time it really sucks because I had an extremely good score, and destroyed 3 M-COM stations. Is this happening to anyone else? I have yet to finish a game.

I love it when you say that!!!!! I love a game where the recoil and hit boxes are better than before :D

Recoil is very good so far, and hit boxes seem to be the best in BF3 than any other BF so far. In the Alpha, I was very impressed with netcode and hitboxes and I can only imagine it's gotten better. Recoil on all of the weapons is easy to control with proper bursts but still takes a decent amount of practice to get down.
The weapons that I managed to unlock had some range limitations. Even with good recoil control, there was no way I was going to consistently snipe anyone across the map with an SMG - even the sniper rifles had pretty significant bullet drop making long range camp-in-your-spawn-like-a-fucking-retard sniping completely ineffective.
On the note of sniper rifle nerfs, if a sniper looks at you and you look back at him you'll see the glare off of his sniper scope. This is practically like someone shining a flashlight at you from across the map. At first I thought it looked a little ambigious but I caught on pretty quickly and I was able to make sure I would lay down supressing fire when moving an area that the aforementioned HERPDERP-DISREGARD-OBJECTIVES-ACQUIRE-HEADSHOT snipers are watching.
TL;DR if you're going to snipe, you still need to be near the action

I love it when you say that!!!!! I love a game where the recoil and hit boxes are better than before :D I can second what Grettin said. The hit boxes are probably some of the best I've seen in a game. Although I have failed to actually FINISH a game, of the BF3 I've played so far, I haven't had any "WTF I HIT THAT GUY" moments.

well there's something you can try (if you're going through a router) is to open the ports. If you're not going through a router then I guess you're SOL for now and its the server connection to your computer.
As there are many people that aren't having this problem, then there is a good chance is just the connection to your computer.
But definitely try the above first if possible.

Well I disliked BC2 so I'm happy to hear its atleast different from that.

LOL, yeah i saw that too but i really thought they were flashlights. Snipers are pretty powerless from long distance (at least the first few unlocks), one headshot isn't enough to kill an enemy, you require two shots usually. Close range, one is usually enough even with a body shot. I think headshot should kill an enemy instantly with a sniper.
I really don't have anything else to say yet. I couldn't key bind anything, i don't know if its a bug or on purpose right now but that sucked.

"An update on Battlelog
The queue system for the serverbrowser is temporarily shut down because we are doing touches to our backend at the moment. Same goes for Quick Match.
Please have patience, use the serverbrowser to join the game and don´t forget to explore the wonders of Battlelog . Have fun!"

People having issues - Please report them to EA/Dice? Their battle log thingy. It will help in the long run and in the 15 days after beta, before the game comes out :D
