The alpha's ending on the first, so go play BF2 and remember what BF was like before all the call of duty influences

NUNYA! all maps and =FART= Mashtuur are great NA servers that are full almost 24/7

if you think its like call of duty, go play call of duty before you say something stupid like this. also note this is rush mode not conquest which is I guess a "little" call of duty except that Bf1942 had team deathmatch and that was before call of duty so.

I was mostly referring to the gunplay of CoD, which has pretty obvious influences in BC2 and BF3. BF2 weapons are harder to use and a lot less deadly, slows down the gameplay so there's more time to take cover and play strategically

I absolutely despise how call of duty-ish the damage is in this game. It greatly reduces the differences between weapons and gives campers way too much of an advantage. In the past battlefield games, if you could kill someone as he was running from cover to cover, you had to have pretty good aim and recoil control. In this alpha...not so much. The weapon damage feels more suited for a hardcore mode than a normal mode.

Are there 3 parts to the demo map or 4? I've played quite a bit now and I've yet to see any team get past the 2nd pair of objectives. Maybe it's just easier for uncoordinated teams on defense than offense.
It's easier not to.

there are 4 parts, I'm with you I have never gotten past the 2nd set, barely get past the first set. Its way to hard for the attackers xD.

In BF2 Planes and Helicopters flew wherever they wanted to and wouldn't follow commands too much, so I think that the ability to call down airstrikes from squad leaders would include them better, and give the game more of a strategic element feel.

I'm really enjoying the game, even though I'm pretty bad at it. I'm still getting used to some of the controls, like standing up when I mean to go prone and such. However, I seem to play much better when I am the squad leader. I guess I play more cautiously when I know my squad needs me to stay alive.
It's easier not to.

Yeah! How dare DICE make weapons that feel deadly instead of like paintball guns! You guys wanted a "realistic" battlefield game because COD is too arcady, you got one.

we got CoD itself, spraying half a mag at once in BF3 seems to be the most common tactic and it really doesn't take much skill at all

None of the weapons are instakill, they just have such low spread that landing the 6ish shots it takes to kill at range can be done near instantly, and because of latency, it's impossible to react in time

Neither does it in real life and it will kill as well. Flanking/tactics > skillful gunplay any time of the day for me.

does recoil auto center in real life as well? That's really the most blatant problem with CoD/BC2/BF3 gunplay, especially in BF3 since guns have so much more recoil

Firing at the enemy's general position is actually an effective method in real world combat, IIRC.

Who played Battlefield because of how much skill it took anyway? Battlefield isn't about skill, and it's been that way since Battlefield 1942.

I am playing the alpha now and even though it is only one map and only Rush mode I can tell you this game is sick. All the upgrades you can get, upgrades for vehicles too! This game is not perfect, but it's damn good.

I finally managed to see the 3rd and 4th parts of the map a few times, and even saw the attackers win a game! All I had to do was get put on a server with <10 people per team haha.

If I wanted a realistic game I'd play Arma. High weapon damage just encourages camping and makes it harder to use aggressive tactics. It probably won't be as big of an issue in conquest mode since your opponents won't know which direction you're attacking from and won't be set up in an unassailable camping spot, but I still dislike it. It seems like the damage model was made for console shooters, where landing more than 4 shots with a controller requires you to surprise your opponent, so they just up the damage to Call of Duty levels to compensate. If I wanted weapons with damage this high, I'd play hardcore mode. But hey, maybe it's just a strange combination of the netcode, the spotting system, and the lowered recoil instead. I'm pretty sure the guns in Counter-Strike killed in fewer hits, yet somehow people drop so much easier in this game than that one.

From what I can tell, with the default assault riffles it takes about 3/4 body shots to kill someone. This is pretty much perfect. The only thing that sucks is how accurate the riffles seem to be. It takes no skill to just spray in a direction and get a kill.
