--------------------------------- * Also I forgot to add, when you are on the verge of a loss, low-key tension music builds up in the background- a very nice touch, just like Crysis 2 once again.
* When the player sprints with a pistol the pistol is held high.
* You are now able to turn around and "high-block" an incoming knife strike and kill your assailant, and it looks good too. Ohhhh YEAH!
* Glock pistol confirmed (17 or 22 or whatever).
Now for those of you who can say "Mine eyes have seen the glory", feel free to share what you could take away from what you have seen (all shots in the dark - nothing official, we are doing nothing wrong!):
* Killing an enemy displays "Enemy Down 100" * MCOM is 200 points * Dogtags are 300 points it seems * You have to hold [R] to pick up a kit- this notification hovers over the kit * Crosshairs on knife and shock paddles are a small white dot. * Tripods on the AK74 * Grenade blew tall trees down * 3D spotting appears confirmed
* The engineer had : - 5 mags of 30 for his M4 - 5 Rockets for his SMAW - 4 mags of 16 for his M9 pistol. - 18 rounds per mag on the MP 443
* First rank is "Pvt 1st class1" * Highest score seen was 4070
UNLOCKS: * Engineer gets a G36C as a primary unlock (Other new weapons): - SV- 98 - MK11 - RPK - Not sure about the M27 IAR - AKS-74u - AK-74M
* Medikit is an unlock. * "Sprint boost" ? - Customization unlcok
* We have seen 3 different 1HK equipped knife attacks from behind: - The grab and knife to the heart (a la Crysis 2) - The leg sweep and downward chopping blow to the chest - And a simple backstroke sweep with the knife to the throat.
The sound is friggin awesome in my opinion!
The accuracy on the guns seem very good. The weapon models taper off to a narrow point away from your screen (along FOV depth) so that you can see more of the screen). The recoils on everything so far seems agreeable. Reload seems "urgent" enough in terms of speed, and animation.
The dive-to-prone is a work of art, who ever did it gets a free year's supply of icecream along with that whippy-haired redhead sound chief.
my ONLY complaint with that list would be knife animations.
i hope that they are all as long as each other. otherwise it would suck having one be longer and get killed because you were doing it.
however thats my only gripe BF3 CANT COME SOON ENOUGH!!!!!

Same here about the animation. It's stupid when you are "dogtagging" the enemy from behind(i.e the animation), but if you knife infront of the enemy(?) its normal slashing. But at least it's not like BFBC2, which i really disliked.

no idea what settings these vids are running at, but I doubt they're too low, lots of sounds and UI pieces look like placeholders from BC2 though
It wasn't old I read it in the neogaf thread. Not saying one forum is more reliable than the other, but 512mb seems much more believable. edit: that thread is also where I saw people saying it was running on low settings.

Better start being disappointed because it feels like neither
- Hitboxes are much improved in comparison with BFBC2. - Recoil is really hard and needs to get used to. - The closed betatest for MoH owners will be held but no word on date yet. - There will be ingame VOIP. - The anticheat system is PunkBuster. - There are three slots for weapon customization. - Character customization will be up but no word on details. - BF3 will be greatly optimized. DICE is willing to optimize it for all platforms and hardware. - System specs won`t be “fantastic”. They will be reasonable. - The feeling of BF3 is truly different. It`s not BF2 and not BFBC2. - BF3 will be highly cybersports-oriented. - There`s no final decision about commo-rose at DICE. - There`s closed area at DICE office where people work on unannounced project - Battlelog is a web-application for BF3.

This sounds awesome, but I thought Demize99 specifically said he didn't like this idea?
Demize99 Alan Kertz @ @Leki1982 I dislike "false positive" spotting, fake spots, errorprone spots, non moving spots, all of these degrade the base benefit of spot

you trust neogaf over me? I'm literally crying right now
There is the alpha specs, which are from the bf3 site, and there are unconfirmed specs which are fabricated to gain hits for gaming blogs, which have been around for quite awhile
They need to start showing gameplay footage outside of Operation Metro. I'd like to see some Conquest battles of BF2 nostalgia or whatever creative map they've came up with.
5 seconds is pretty long time, especially if the game is action packed & map isn't the biggest ones. But i think you can "experience" that when you actually play the game. But right now, for me, it looks like to be taking too long.
But we will see!

I agree, but i'm not sure how many maps there is to play right know. Remember, this is just ALPHA.

Maybe the maps are still being worked on? It is like how in some beta tests there are only a few maps to play on. And this is the alpha build after all.
Looks absolutely fantastic but.. What's here that we haven't seen before? I was pretty excited for a while but it just looks like another FPS from a pure gameplay perspective. I hope I get proven wrong down the line.

Welcome to this generation. Every PC game is going to look somewhat same.
But if you really want to know something, what you haven't seen before yet. Frostbite 2.
Bolt action sniper still seems to be a little bit underpowered but not as useless as it was in BC2. That's only one of them, but I hope the sniper class will be somehow useful on competitive level

Yeah, just getting a bit stale to me, or I'm having a hard time building hype the way I used to. I hope it feels different, BC2 lasted me about 3 weeks. Good fun, but Counter-Strike lasted me 8 years before I got bored of it. But sure, looks like they've mad a good engine for once. I hope they've got some netcode to back it up this time around though.

Yeah, you are right. BC2 lasted 3 weeks for me also, BF2 couple of years.. Not to forget CS & original Call of Duty's..
But for sure, it's not anything between BC2 or BF2. Its completely different, maybe even more towards BC2 if you ask me.. Which is sad when we are talking about Battlefield 3.
