I assumed it was on all weapons, and that the suppression perk only made it have a bigger effect?

to the people who say bullets does to much dmg..

DICE have already confirmed that the bullet dmg will be slightly lowered in retail

I don't think so.

This would have been huge change, and they said slighlty lowered the dmg.

My guess would be Some shots would take same numbers of hits until u kill they guy( sniper for example).

And others just simply tweaked to the point where they do a little less dmg.

Nothing to worry about :p

3 shot bolt action would be useless IMO. Also, silencers have no effect on damage (for snipers), they just grossly increase bullet drop, demonstrated in the video below.

This is not Modern Warfare. This is Battlefield. Sprinting any place is a good way to get killed, because in BF3 as in real life there is a huge huge huge defender's advantage. You need to move slowly, stay proned or crouched, use suppressing fire from LMGs or riflemen to your advantage. Move along lanes where your teammates are suppressing enemy return fire. Use grenades to check corners where there might be someone lurking.

You have to understand that what you think is OP is actually a return to the way that games were for a long, long time. You're like the bronze leaguer, unable to see how to effectively combat strategies, and thus calling them overpowered. Once you spend more time playing, it will become easier.

Also, I think there is an issue with the netcode. Namely, I'll just instantly die without any hit indicators from random rifles or submachine guns. This seems to happen the most with the UMP. I'll be running along and just instantly die with no hit indicators (and no it isn't a headshot). I know that gun requires at least two hits, so it is beyond frustrating every time this happens (and yes I am at 100% hp). I think this is either bad netcode or lag as it indicates the player shooting you has fired bullets more quickly than you're currently experiencing.


Net code issues are definitely prevalent at the moment. Testing suggests that all hit detection is done client side, which explains the 1-shot kills with weapons that shouldn't be able to do so. Hopefully this will be fixed either by a new build of the game, or simply improved network performance.

Flashlights are annoyingly OP. I don't care if it is realistic, being able to blind me and practically preventing any return fire is not acceptable. It's fun though when you are able to kill these morons though because you can guesstimate where your cross hairs are and point into the light appropriately.


You call flashlights OP in the same paragraph as you recognize that you can just point your crosshairs at the center of the light and hold down LMB. Your annoyance with flashlights does not equate to a game balance issue. They are ineffective at anything other than close range and give away your position more often than not. I can't even count how many kills I've gotten solely because I saw someone's flashlight coming around a corner.


Battle log is garbage. Whose idea was it to load an external program (Origin) which then will open up a page in your browser which you then will be able to load the game? It's beyond counter intuitive. I see nothing wrong with the paradigm of loading a game and searching for servers that way. This new way is just convoluted and a big F U to steam.

Speaking of UI, the in-game UI is annoying as hell. Anyone else notice how you have to click "Deploy" multiple times in order to spawn? It's because it sits there and does a save each and every time you try to spawn. This is so frustrating and really removes you from the action. On top of that, most the time you spawn you are greeted with 2-3 seconds of black screen before it decides you can see anything. It's super clunky. Also, changing kit customizations and weapon customizations requires far too many clicks. I liked how BC2 was setup, with vertical lists where you could select everything form one screen. The final kicker is the lack of squad joining. I understand that it will likely be added in the full release, but it is seriously annoying being unable to coordinate and join squads with your friends.

It's a fun game, but there are lots of things wrong with it that I know will never get fixed.


I generally agree that Battlelog and the current menu system are subpar implementations, and I hope that something changes in that regard. It really just comes down to whether you trust DICE to implement community feedback.

PDW damage could stand to be toned down a little bit, particularly the UMP. Bolt action rifles are still great, you just have to get headshots. I unlocked the M40 yesterday and love it to death. Incredibly accurate rifle, so if you're a decent shot, it's godly. Also has a glorious firing sound :D

You can 1hit with semiauto rifles like SVD and MK11 headshots, making the bolts irrelevant.

I wouldn't touch the damage on anything but bolt actions until the netcode is fixed because of how skewed the results can be.

One way or another, BC2 is the first game i've played in awhile that I really feel like got bolt actions rights. Body shots kill at close to mid range and anything beyond that you need to headshot to get a kill, and there were no other weapons in the game that could do the same thing aside from a sabot rounds shotgun (which is effectively a sniper rifle with no scope on it anyway)

It's definitely top tier, how I got the 57-19 that i posted a few pages back but 95% of the kills i'm getting with those are with flanks and shooting people in the back, not in heads up engagements. There's an insane lack of awareness for the majority of the people in the beta that I think is partly due to the fact that the game is essentially free to play at this point and that attracts a certain level of noob

Agreed, the game is so different playing with a squad of friends who know how to play, vs just essentially pubbing.

Though in head up engagements, it holds its own superbly.

Too much damage on bullets? It seems I have to pump 5ish rounds on someone with my AK to have them drop, which is ridiculous. God I can't wait till retail HC...1 hit snipers, 2 hits almost all assaults, etc.

Yeah, but until I see some kind of damage chart I can't tell if it's because of it's fire rate + netcode, the fact that 99% of FPS players can't aim for shit or that its damage is legitimately way higher than everything else in the game

Basing it just on feel I think it might be a combination of all of the above but this is teamliquid and I need raw data to theorycraft :D

Playing this with an actual squad would be awesome, mobile spawn is going to become so imba... I wish people would actually go for objectives instead of just kills, but I think that conquest will solve it because unlike rush where you need to put your gun down to actually help, in conquest you need to kill to take the points.
Have you considered the MMO-Champion forum? You are just as irrational and delusional with the right portion of nostalgic populism. By the way: The old Brood War was absolutely unplayable

I think in conquest mobile spawn will help the game a lot, in rush the only useful thing I've found with them is to put them in stupid spots to shoot people in the bacl :/

I might buy the game for PC if servers are able to customize their gameplay more than just infantry only, but limit it to infantry only and no explosives.
