Its solid now and cant really see it w/o directly examining the shadows. (the shadowmap resolutions at 4096)
needed to launch the game directly from .exe cause the steam way with the splash image was overwriting the .ini or something. wow THANKS!
This is the only method that makes it work for me. Shadow fixes actually working means a visual and framerate boost <3

Hail the empire, without a doubt. While I'm totally going to side with Ulfric on my second playthrough, I think he represents the stupid side. Random rebel who expects that his new kingdom in the north won't be overrun by elves once the empire falls for good.
a) Empire wins vs Dominion and rapes "his" Skyrim afterwards b) Dominion wins vs Empire and rapes Skyrim afterwards.
Siding with the empire means it's more likely to push the Dominion back.
But then again, on my first playthrough I'm also avoiding all the sexy evil deeds and I'm playing the knight in shining armor pretty much. =D

I'm no familiar with the lore in the TES serie, but since i'm plying a dark elf assassin, and that every damn nordic was racist against me, i chosed the Empire to kill the damn rebels.

Hm, I'm actually playing a Dunmer as well, and I sided with the Stormcloaks. Despite the superficial hostility, I would think that a Dunmer would still be more likely to understand and identify with the hardline traditionalists in Skyrim. The two cultures share many similarities (ancestor cult, clan/house society, etc) and similar struggles (to preserve their tradition and culture even though parts of it have been outlawed, as well as remain as independent as possible from foreign rule).
As for racism, native Dunmer in Morrowind behave the exact same way, if not worse.

Empire was pretty casual about executing me at the beginning of the game. Reason enough to join up with the Stormcloaks.

Stormcloaks, heck if I'm gonna join the peeps who were gonna execute me.

Do we have to choose a side in the game? I'm level 15 wandering around and doing fetch quests, killing people, stealing horses and avoiding the guards.

you chose a side right at the start of the game, depending on who you ran to hide with when the dragon hit.

Well the main quest (Dragonborn business) doesn't seem to be tied to the civil war, at least initially.

Stormcloaks easy. It's not so much that I dislike the empire, I just think it would be a damn shame if I didn't put every thalmor I found to the sword. Damn cocky, condescending sons of bitches. Free all the prisoners!

no you get extra quests to choose sides. Right now I have both quests to go join the stormcloaks and the Empire.

I think I'll join the Imperial Legion, I am an Imperial after all. It's the master race, damn nords should know that already.

so far I found Boethia, Azura, Meridia, Nocturnal the OP really needs to put a link to http://www.uesp.net/ at the top
that was essentially the ultimate resource for oblivion and will become the ultimate resource for skyrim in a month or two, most simple questions like that can be looked up there right away
