Are there are good GW2 communities popping up yet (to discuss the information as it is released, but with more depth)?

Guru is great for hypothetical discussion. They're really trying to shape up the forum and crack down on moderation, which is good, because it was getting bad over the last few months. I've seen it improve quite a bit.
As an alternative, we also have discussion on our guild forums, although ours is a bit more direct, and more strictly moderated to keep things on-topic and in-depth.

I would also invite anyone interested in the game to watch the videos that have been released thus far. We compiled them all in one location for community.

Hello.
Ive read most of this thread, looked at most of the names and I dont recognize really any of you from GW1. When you say you will be #1 in competitive PvP in GW2 what are your guys' preivious experience in GW1? are you guys iQ or EW or rawr in disguise??
basically in the most mannerful way I ask;
whoru?
(no disrespect)

We have numerous members from all sorts of top guilds, including GW1 guilds. You may or may not recognize their name here however, it would probably be best to have them represent themselves.
That being said, a lot of our members come from other areas as well, as we don't recruit just "gw1" players. For example, many of our members come from top arena teams in Wow, or come from masters/GM rankings in SC2. That's not to say all of our members are from those backgrounds, but instead share the same sense of competitive mentality.
And so in a polite way I ask you the same: whoru?

"whoru," spoken like a true GW player ^^.
We're going to be #1 not because we have the GW1 gosus, but because we have the environment and mindset to succeed.
I was top 100 for atleast 3 months, top 200 for about a year and a half, sometime after EoTN release. Top 500 in random shitter guilds since mid-NF. Nothing to brag about, never even got poop trim, but enough that it might give you some perspective. If you'd like to talk more feel free to PM me on here or our forums.
Edit: Most of our players come from backgrounds other than GW1, and I assume that's because if you look at teamquitter's GW2 section all you see are QQ (pun intended) posts about how bad GW2 PvP is going to be.
If I remember correctly we have a top 10 player, 2 top 50 players, 2 top 100 players, and a few top 200 players.

Can't really wait for this game. I really hope the PvP will be as competitive as GW1 PvP was, since it kept me playing GW1 for so long. Is there any real PvP info revealed yet?
btw, played for The Valandor in my primetime in gw1

Also, whatever they're replacing with GvG is going to be 5v5. I would think, like in GW1, most competitive guilds settle between 10 and 15 players, considering only 5 of them will reliably play. In SC2 you can have large teams because even in team leagues a high variance gives a team good depth, in GW (and probably GW2), depth isn't a factor. It's all about the synergy between players, and with the decrease in the number of active players in a match, I think it will correspondingly mean a decrease in active players on a roster.
But I think most of the people who'd join a 20+ person guild aren't looking to play competitively.

Two.whatup, you should see how many people we turn down a week Your statement holds a lot of truth, but I hope you don't immediately discriminate a larger guild within its own categories, lest you have never played any mmo other than GW, where there is no finite advantage to having a larger guild.
When we say were a competitive PvP guild we mean that, which is why we have the highest standards set on our application process. We can afford to do that where other guilds cannot because we have the traffic of teamliquid supporting it. Keep in mind that PvP includes world PvP as well as our hardcore arena teams. I'd praise any 10-15 man guild that can get anything accomplished alone in WvWvW. We are aiming to be self-sufficient on both fronts.

It's fine, but I'd still like to know more about you In either case thanks for showing interest, perhaps we'll see each other on the battlefields some day sooner than later.

INCREDIBLY impressed with the layout of this guild and INCREDIBLY hyped for GW2; writing up an app now!

I'll be hovering over the recruitment section, awaiting.

I dont suppose you know how to quickly create mouseover image maps with CSS, dropping the javascript eh? No swfs for the sake of bandwidth, at the moment. I'm doing it now but its quite tiresome.
Hah. Off tangent, anyways look forward to seeing more apps from experienced TLers.

Unfortunately I meant the layout of the guild like ranks, goals, etc. I definitely don't know anything about web coding, although I'm learning Python atm.
Though for the record the site is definitely awesome, and <3 the radio so much.

I'm pretty sure I asked this before, and sorry if someone already answered it, but are we going to have a separate TL Community guild for the more casual people? I'd be down for organizing it if nobody's up to it yet

Yes, we have a seperate section for the more casual players. That will be announced later and opened up as we organize it. We've already recruited quite a few for the casual side, for now were simply organizing how it will be setup, to keep things fair and honest.
It's important we focus 100% of our attention to the competitive side first, lest we fall behind on preparation, and yes, even this far ahead, there is tweaks we are working out as a group.
Ill add more info as soon as I get time:

Take the chance to read the charter we spent months on (literally, draft after draft with all of the teamliquid members giving their input, voting, and discussions):
Full charter: http://teamlegacy.net/topic/1328-our-common-sense-charter/
To quote specifically what you asked from the charter:
[*]<a name="Member">Member</a> Members fall into two distinct categories.
Division 1 "Honor Guard" - Our renowned top-tier group of players, coming from extensive PvP experience, set on making a name in GW2 with TL. This group consists of what a third party would easily assume as our "competitive group" They view our guild more as a brand name than a guild. They're in it to win, and will put full time and dedication to doing as such. These members are expected to set an example in regards to attendance. They are on-time, aware of what's going on around them, and capable of any task assigned to them. They are regarded as the players that do not need but little if any training, and set themselves out to be role models within the guild. In essence, they are the heroes of the legion. They play a large part in creating the reputation of the guild.
Division 2 "Legion" - Division 2 hosts the array of members that consist of what most would consider a "casual guild". Although not held to the same extreme standards of our professional team, members recruited into this group are still representing our image, and therefore put through many of the same tests and qualifications as a professional team member to make sure they are mature, and wont be a bother to others. They are however, allowed a lot more leniency in terms of attendance and PvP experience. Although this is considered to be the starting point aside from recruit, members here are no less among the most experienced players in the server, and should regard themselves with pride. Most members in Division 2, or the "Legion", usually are only there due to attendance less so than skill. Should the time arise and they find themselves capable of the same time availability as Division 1 members, usually with proper display of skill, or by reputation, they may be promoted quickly. Just the same, if a Division 1 member finds himself with other priorities in real-life, and cannot commit to a reliable schedule, they will be temporarily demoted. This is not to be looked down upon, as we always believe real life priorities should always come first.
I hope this helps. When we open up the recruitment section for the more casual players, you (and many others) will hear all about it. We're really just waiting to see the guild size caps, and how guild rankings will fall in GW2.
