So I just picked up tera after a year break and instantly regretted being on EU, so me and a few friends moved to NA and started over. Curious as to how we can go about getting the halloween tokens? All I know of so far is that there's some three-man instance with cannons or something, not sure about any of the level requirements or anything.
Add a drop of lavender to milk, leave town with an orange and pretend you're laughing at it.

Fodders are gear of the sme type and at least the same tier.


Say you want to enchant a tier 7 axe to +6. You need 7 alkahests and a single weapon (doesn't have to axe) that is at least tier 7. White or green ones will do.

I think it won't change much, if any. Atm WHHM is frustrating, so lots of people don't even bother with it. Spend over an hour over and over again for a slight chance to just see the item you need. And there's no 100% chance that you get it as well.

Besides now it's steadfast weapon+gloves +12 = done, you can farm 100% of the game content and do it easily. Throw in some regent/wh chest with skill boost and it'll be even better. So there's isn't much to play for now atm as well.
Just the lack of any other mmo to play makes me to log Tera more or less often and do something. Well, also combat and elins.

BnS is about the same as Tera content wise I believe. Lack of end game, somehow better pvp I think, but because it's not pure non-target battle system like Tera, it spoils the fun.
And it has way too unique art/style for western gamers. Reminds of Magna Carta (PS2 krpg) a bit. I believe western gamers don't like that style too much, but it did much better in Korea than Tera. It's still P2P and have big enough playerbase.
But since it's koreans, it's hard to say. Aion is still p2p there as well and it's doing really good.


I feel the problem is that these Asian companies are just throwing money at the game trying to make it better, but some of the developers have not the slightest clue on game design.

TERA suffers too much from self-cannibalization. As soon as they make new contents the old one is obsolete. Sure, I understand that with MMORPG you have to create incentives for players to do newer contents by adding new loot and better gear - that's just how MMORPGs work - but TERA takes it to the extreme. They first REMOVE KNHM fire weapons (which were great in offering players a variety of different gears to play with and a dungeon to run), then they REMOVE ACHM (which I believe is the best dungeon in TERA) and FoK and render KN20 completely worthless, and now this upcoming Kuma's world is essentially going to kill Corsair's. It's almost as if TERA2 is in the making and BHS is trying to force players to quit TERA1 to play the newer game.

TERA actually did a fairly good job for the Argon Queen patch. While MCHM drops Regent's which were the best gear at the time (beside vm), all other dungeons drop VM designs, so there were still some point in running FoKHM and BTHM - so the older contents weren't totally useless. Now the developers are like "YOU HAVE TO RUN WHHM and the 3/5/7 DUNGEONS THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS". It's dumb and force players into a very narrow band of choices.

The 3/5/7 dungeons are really big failures. Why would you even bother creating 3 new (and very bland, I should add) dungeons when TERA got a shitload of good dungeons already available? Why not just make FoK, BT, and AC drop Zenith boxes (hard mode drop 2 per player, normal mode drop 1) and adjust MoB chance from Zenith accordingly? Why not make Zenith jewelries BoP from Zenith boxes only? Why not make KN10/20 drop Zenith boxes? All of a sudden the older end-game dungeons are still worth running and the players can choose what they want to run.

If older end-game dungeons are not your cup of tea, there are also other options. For example, I strongly believe that Salaron's Sky Garden is a VERY GOOD END-GAME DUNGEON. The pre-boss mechanics for SSG is just as intricate as Wonderholme, and the actual boss fight is fairly challenging that requires a reasonable degree of coordination. Furthermore SSG has a very unique tileset in TERA not seen in any other dungeon. If BHS made a SSGHM for level 60s it'd be a great dungeon. But no, they rather spend all their money on these really, really bad 3/5/7 dungeons.

And then there is the issue with WHHM drop tables. I think I whined about it enough times so I'll skip it.

If you have seen TERATODAY's article, there will be a new equalized BG called Kuma's world. I am not exactly sure how it works nor do I really care that much, but that thing is going to utterly destroy Corsair's simply because it only allows solo queue. Currently, Corsair's is very profitable to farm with level60s premade because the queue is really fast and your opponents are really bad - it's filled with pre-60s. These pre-60s are winning very rarely (due to a very rigged equalization mechanic and matchmaking system), but they'd do it anyway because it gives a huge chunk of EXP. When Kuma's world hits, I promise you all pre-60s are going to migrate to Kuma's world because solo-queue only allows better matchmaking when you are pre-60 with no premade teammates - and Corsair's will be dead. Why the hell would a game developer even make such a thing? Why not just make Corsair's solo queue only and fix Fraywind? Why would they spend all these money just to destroy its existing contents?

Sorry for the huge rant. I won't be playing this game anymore.

Welp, that's pretty much what I think too. Lots of weird decisions by BHS since korean release. Maybe that's because NCSoft's lawsuit when BHS lost a few key people, maybe because they are just trying some stuff on their first game, so their 2nd game will be much better. I dunno.
But some decisions really make no sense at all. Keep SP, AoS and SA in game, instances that no one ever did (SA and SP is actually pretty fun too), then remove FoK and ACHM for some weird reason.
They keep abandoning existing instances (those 3 above, SSG, KN of all types, BT, AC), while it's so easy to just adjust some values/drops and people would do those again. Yet, just as you said, they made those 3/5/7 man ones, which lack... everything. Well, technically KG have some mechanics in cannons, bombs and a drill, but it's so easy and pretty much "hit it till it dies" thing.
And that's been happening since forever. Western P2P start had FoK/BT HMs, then T14 gear killed those pretty much. Yeah, they still had chance to drop VM recipes, but that doesn't mean people were doing those. You know, when tank have to wait over 25 mins in que for any of those instances, they are dead for sure.
And now it's happened once again. WH replaced MC, 100% quill drop rate also helped. Even if you're bad and don't want to learn MC, just buy em, they are fairly cheap now and you won't have to do it ever again. That if you'll even bother with VM2, when SF/WH is overkill for all current content.

Maybe it was their idea though. Those 3 instances are pretty much new daily for people. They are easy, que doesnt take long (3 and 7 man ones are rarely over 2 minutes for any class) and drop boxes. That's a very old concept, add dailies to create an illusion of content. Anything to keep people from semi-afk chatting in towns.

Not sure about Tera2 theory though. It's still will be a few years before Tera2, atm there's no even art/concepts/screenshots released and it's usually over 2 years from those to betas.

Also I think that kuma event is a temporary thing, at least if believe to Teratoday. Which also makes little sense. Why make something like new BG to remove it later? I understant some event stuff, like Halloween stuff atm, but it's so small. New BG probably took much more time/money to make and test.
On the other hand, if (just if) BHS were able to add such stuff more often, like every 2 months new temporary BG or instance, that would've been sooooo good for Tera. Keeping game fresh is important.

As for Fraywind, that's actually NA special. EU's FC is alive because they didn't nerf KS credits for it. Treeshark posted that there will be a patch for FC this tuesday.

But yeah, tl;dr version would be: BHS and their weird ideas and decisions. So much stuff could/would be better with so little efforts like droptables edit, it's not even funny.

Level 10+. Mini instance at the eldritch academy grounds (pora elinu). You can tele there through npcs that exchange candies for prizes. They are at almost every town, in Velika for example she's right behind bank at the plaze of the huntress.

I for one am glad if CS dies and Kumas becomes popular because only allowing solo queue is awesome. Nothing is more frustrating then doing CS solo. If I ever queue up by myself it's more then likely I will be on the random team 100+ rating below the other team. Pre-mades should only queue against other pre-mades. It's fucking retarded it doesn't work that way since many other games now a day actually do it that way.

If I group queue with other buds then it's usually all fine and dandy...but that's just because us 5 are working together and can usually win 100% of the time. But yeah, anytime I feel like just doing a random CS solo....noooooooope.

Indeed. After 12 losses in a row I had once, I completely stopped solo queue for CS. Since then I was in top 100 with 3 of my chars, highest was in mid 50s with 1350+ rating I think.
Solo queue is a waste of time and not fun even a lil bit. People still solo que though, but mostly below 60 for exp.

And I wonder if solo only queue is the answer to all problems. It's a mmorpg after all, and people like to play with their friends more than with randoms.
EFC (solo queue only) was popular when it was introduced the first time for a month, then it was removed. And finally when it was added back, no one bothered with it anymore since.
Premades vs premades sounds ok, but I wonder if there's enough people for that. Because the same day it will take over 15 mins to queue, it will die. And since most of premades are just random 60s from LFG doing it once a day for a daily/key, I really doubt there will be enough of people to support 1-4 min queue 24/7 like it is atm.

Also premades is not that big problem in FC. It's somehow an advantage, that's for sure, but not as bad as in CS.
I think CS's premade is advantage mostly because you can take 5 non retarded people who can read chat and follow commands based on scans.
And tbh, I like how it is atm. Spend a bit time to get a premade, win almost every time. If for some weird reason they would allow only solo queue for CS now, I think I would just stop doing those completely. Time is money and losing in CS because some retarded people decided it would be cool to pvp for nothing for whole 15 minutes... The key doesn't worth that much.

Say your premade has 4 people of 1400 Elo, and the other 36 players are 900 Elo, then you will have one side with a lot higher Elo.

If it's soloQ only, the 1400 Elo players will be on different sides and there will be no Elo difference.

That if they fix ELO system for CS. I believe they made that in FC there can't be difference over 50 ELO between two teams, while in CS I've seen over 250 points difference. That can't be achieved by 1 premade vs 20 randoms, that's at least 3 premades. In fact, I was in few CS' where we had 4 premades vs randoms. One just happened yesterday, they had attacking side first.
After ~9mins there were only 8 of them left and we camped their spawn, at the start of the next round they had 6 people left.

So it's clear that matching system for CS doesn't work as intended. If it did, then premades wouldn't been such a problem, since if you had your high ELO premade, then the other team always would've had one too.

Also, CS will never be balanced because it allows characters below 60. Yeah, some classes don't suffer as much as other, but glyphs/crystals are very important too. Sorc/zerk have much higher chances of 1hko people without relentless cruxes for example.
And some classes are just plain helpless without their skills, like sorcs before level 48 (boc and hailstorm). Or slayers before they get backstab and measured slice (which is 60).
Premades just help to eliminate a bit of RNG atm. By rng I mean how many characters below 60 will be in your team and how many of em can follow leader/scans. Premade of 5 leaves 15/20 to RNG, thus giving higher chances overall.
Also let's be honest, current system only hurt low level people/alts. There're countless LFG shouts for CS premades and if there're none, you can always make on yourself.

Yep, which is why it should have been soloQ only to begin with. The entire thing is DESIGNED for lowbies, and should remain so.

Still at the end I feel these Asian companies do not know how to make MMOs anymore. Merely throwing money at it on aesthetics does not make the game great; the design and the actual content does. #TERA #FF14.

More like all MMOs. TSW, GW2 got old very fast and not that successful. SWTOR failed. Rift is f2p now, too. Wildstar looks meh, nothing interesting at all. Don't have big hopes for TESO either.
Never played wow (well, maybe a week or so not long after release), so can't say if it's that much better than the rest, but from what I saw looks like it's the same crap, just by blizzard, so have an army of blind followers.

So true about lower levels just getting owned so often. I'm slowly leveling my archer like I've said but not having a good AoE really blows. I can't wait til I get 58 and have Rain of Arrows because then I will feel sooo much more useful in CS.

Also, I remember leveling my first character, my Berserker and it could have been just because I was new to the game but the lower levels I really sucked, couldn't do much at all. Now if I go in at 60, with the extra 20k hp from crystals and the extra pvp dmg/defense from zyrks I just stay alive forever and 1 or 2 shot people all day. So refreshing to do that after playing my lowbie archer and fully charging up piercing arrow and doing only like 10k dmg lol.

Although lately whenever I group queue in CS I prefer to bring my priest. I mean, 80k health, full pvp defense zyrks, all the priest buffs/sleeps/etc/etc. I absolutely love it, nobody can kill you. Then again, healing in CS kinda sucks because you only get assists, which means less contribution points, but meh, still fun to basically be invincible.

I am not too familiar with TSW/SWTOR. I heard GW2 was OK, and Rift deserved to fail being a complete WoW clone.

Maybe this MMO thing simply does not work. WoW was the exception because... you know, Blizzard. They brought an MMO that already had 10 (?) years of material and made it successful.

Is there a penalty for leaving CS besides just losing rating? Lately, CS on my leveling archer has been terrible (I'm like 4w 15l or so) and the past couple CS I'll join and if the average rating is like 50+ worse I sit around til I get buffed & charmed then just leave and go level for ~15-30min then queue again. If it's at least somewhat even or the team I'm on is ahead I'll stay.

Currently my archer's rating is like 800, but even when I leave/lose it only drops by about 10-15, and when I win one it jumps up like 50-60.

I don't really care for rating atm, since I'm mainly just doing it for the quick CS daily win, but I hope there isn't something that will stop you from queuing if you leave too often?

GW2 is ok, just as Tera, FF14 and BnS are. If it suits you and you have nothing better to do, you'll have some fun playing it. But it have lots of flaws, it's repeative and after a while it gets old. And their forums are filled with people complaining about all kind of stuff.

And I think it does work (mmo stuff), but for some weird reason people think if mmo doesn't have wow's playerbase it failed. It's fine for a mmo to have about 200-500k players if count all regions, it still will be more than profitable on either model. You may call them niche games, but it isn't exactly right.
Also some games are way more popular in Asia, than here. Like Aion. Yes, it wasn't/isn't successful on the west, but it have a huge playerbase in Korea and always had. Which means NCSoft did and still doing everything to please korean gamers. And as we all know, they prefer different stuff most of the time.

And yeah, leaving BG=losing+dropout debuff. If you don't want to get a dropout debuff, just close tera.exe. Your char should get removed from CS in few mins.

I was wondering if teamliquiders were still playing this game. After spending a little time with this game at launch initially I've decided to try again. I have to say I'm immensely impressed with the game. I've tried the vast majority of MMO's on the market and the basics in Tera (combat/character development/atmosphere and environment) are really impeccable. It's a fun game to solo through because combat is enjoyable and dungeons and pvp is also great, especially if you have some friends to do this with.

My biggest concern with the game is the end game content. I fear there isn't enough to keep people going in what has otherwise has been far and away my favorite challenger MMO to WoW.

I'm playing on tempest reach right now. If some other teamliquid members are playing on this server I'd be interested in getting to know them or join their guild.

you can join the TL guild that was made just look it up its call <liquid> pretty active still with about 20 something players a few TL'ers in there. Ask to join i just started playing again cause of the endgame but with new content coming out very soon and a new class will be very interesting to see how they change the game!

i am very impressed with this game. it is brutal. not eve brutal, but still great hardcore pvp. im on mount tyranus.

if u die, its not that bad, but you will die a lot and have to run back and forth a lot. you will spend a lot of time fighting other people constantly, so its a real great pvp fix with great pve elements due to the combat mechanics that are not based on auto lock. awesome game.
