Again, sorry this update took so long, but all my pokemon are underleveed, so I fly around re-challenging trainers that call me on pokenav to level, and while that gives good exp its time consuming. Exp share helps though.

Grinding is really the thing that stops me from getting a full eevee team whenever i play. That and the fact they can't fly

See, this is why I don't like Natures in Pokemon. Cool idea, really annoying implementation.

Problem is most natures are useless, and it's not like you can pick what you want.

Honestly natures and IV are so dumb for a competitive game. It's fine for single player (not that you'd notice any variety since single player is so easy), but it doesn't add any real choices to multiplayer (higher IVs strictly better, and everyone just uses Atk/SpAtk reducing natures anyway). EVs are OK since they are a player-controled way to add variety, except the in-game interface has no way to track it and it just becomes a complete pain.

I guess the game wasn't originally designed to be competitive but I feel like they dropped the ball past gen2 in shoring up this aspect of the game. Instead of improving things they added the horrific IV/EV/nature system.

There are actually several ways to control natures and to a lesser extent IVs. When breeding pokemon you can pass the nature of a parent on by giving that parent an everstone before putting in the day care, and you can pass an IV from a parent to an egg by giving that parent the corresponding EV boosting hold item, not to mention the automatic random inheritance.

You can also control wild pokemon nature though the use of the ability synchronize. And there have been NPCs to tell you about your pokemon's EV spread for a while, not to mention in X/Y they are gonna make EVs completely visible.

Its actually a very complex system that I think adds a lot of depth to the games and makes them more fun, but some people find it daunting and I guess it can be a bit annoying and seem over complicated.

Most of it was probably to add depth/complexity to post-game optimization via breeding/etc. The problems arise really for people trying to optimize natures/EV train/etc. on their first playthrough which I don't think was ever the intended gameplay scenario anyway, given that in none of the games is IV/EV/nature optimization necessary on first playthrough.
