I recommend getting the mobile authenticator. It doesn't cost anything and it's rather painless to use. I added it this morning so hopefully it doesn't get hacked again. Would be seriously pissed if anything else happened.

So today I keep running into public follow bots while leveling a new character. Pretty much just follows someone and auto attacks anything within range, pretty easy to get them stuck on corners so fun to fuck with them, lets see if blizzard does anything about this.

hackers are probably getting login info from some popular site's database that has been compromised

it could be Blizzard. it could be a third party.

best safeguard is to get an authenticator and change your password to one you've never used before.

my email has been compromised before and I believe it was due to me using the same password for various registrations way too much.

damned if I know, doesn't mean it had anything to do with public games

it's not like authenticator is ever advertised to be 100% proof against conventional attacks, it just makes it really hard

I guess I did get my info leaked out somewhere. I just looked at my recent players list (I haven't played with anyone) and noticed there was someone on there. I guess that's how all my gold went missing a few days ago. Hell, he might have even hit me a few days before I started using the authenticator. Now, I'm convinced that Blizzard's "security" is absolute bullshit.

I know for a fact I haven't gotten phished at all. The only time my D3 password was ever used was to log onto Battle.net to post on their forums. I haven't clicked on any funny links emailed to me either. My computer doesn't have a keylogger or any funny programs running on it. AVG and Malware Bytes haven't found anything on my computer throughout their daily scans, so I know my computer isn't infected. This is definitely a security problem on Blizzard's end that they simply refuse to admit.
