Now I'm happy/don't really care.
I'll probably use the in game gold trading house but I'm strongly against paying real money for items in all games.

Edit: On August 01 2011 17:56 cz wrote: Anyone have a clue roughly how "big" diablo 3 will be compared to diablo 2? I mean in terms of game length, essentially how long the game takes before it gets boring. WoW for example is a much larger game than Diablo 2, which can be "played out" in a month or so. Anyone got a clue on how big/long diablo 3 is going to be? Like how many Diablo II acts Diablo III will be? I'm afraid with all this "it's an RPG, not an MMO" that Diablo 3 will be a quick playthrough and then you're done, like diablo 2 was. If you look at Diablo III like you look at WoW, then your missing the point >_>

The PvP portion just got destroyed. I am completely fine with making PvP casual, that is: - Don' t balance the game around PvP - Don't hand out gear for PvP players - Don't give anything to PvP players but for the love of god. Why wouldn't you at least give us, taking the SC2 analogy, leagues and ladders? What is in it in d3 for a PvP player like me that likes to compete? NOTHING The arena and ladder was 80% of what I was looking forward with D3 and I was happy with Blizzard saying "you won't get gear", "it won't be an e-sport"... but they managed to even destroy that. And as far as the real money auction house goes. I can't even believe there are people defending Blizzard based on "there are already 3rd party sites for that". If Blizzard should implement functionality in their games based on "there are already 3rd party sites for that" most of their games would be destroyed. Sad to see Blizzard go down that road. If they wanted to earn a buck or two they could have made micro transactions in some other way, this is just a cheap way to leech on the community, specially kids that play a little too much just to earn a extra dollar or two. Disgusting.

Then I went : Oh wait, maybe I can make money too with selling items. Then finally I realized that won't be possible since once the farming machine kicks in, everything will be cheap as fuck. Oh and “What’s Blizzard’s cut? As with other online auction sites and real-world auction houses, our fee structure will vary by region. However, we plan to collect a nominal fixed transaction fee for each item listed in the auction house. This fee consists of a fixed charge to list the item, which is assessed whether or not the item is successfully sold, and an additional fixed charge that is assessed only if the item is sold. The listing portion of the fee, which helps encourage sensible listing prices and discourage the mass posting of items that are very low quality or would be of little interest to other players, will be waived for a limited number of transactions per account. For players who opt to have the proceeds of their auction house sales go to their third-party payment service account instead of to their Battle.net account, Blizzard will collect a separate “cash-out” fee. Specific details regarding these fees will be announced at a later date.”

But I won't go that extreme. From all the announcements, this is NOT Diablo. Just another great Hack & Slash RPG bearing the name of the infamous franchise similar to the path of Starcraft 2. Sure Blizzard still made great games, but I don't like the way they are changing the key elements of our beloved games to the point that the games don't have the same feel anymore. I have high expectation for any Blizzard title. But this would be the last time I'll buy their game if D3 turns out to be another disappointment just like my SC2 box sitting at the back of my gaming collection. This is not the Blizzard I have known for 20 years and I had been losing faith since later patch of WC3.

If Blizzard didn't support RMT you could still buy things for money like you can buy gold in WoW, so there would be no difference at all. Why are people upset? So just because there are 3rd party sites leeching on the community the answer is Blizzard should do the same? At least put some thought into an argument. At least bring forth that selling items in games for real cash is a good thing as a principle. Don't argue "there are others that do it, therefore Blizzard should also do it, it is the same thing". I hope this isn't they way you reason in life in general. Seriously...

Though I am kind of undecided about the skill point system. On one hand, I enjoyed building and planning various characters and on the other hand, it's pretty cool that I'll just have that one really strong and versatile character with many different itemsets.

I also think the SC2 marketplace concept is a joke. I honestly don't know why Blizzard is trying so hard to piss off it's customers.

Clarification: irl-money auction house Another edit: read the comments on pc-gamers article. Yeah. This should be against human rights or whatever, basically giving them incentive to continue with the farming-thingy.. But if not this game another I guess. Idk.

Ah, hmm well I think I'd prefer old system of course, but I am okay with with this. Certainly not a dealbreaker at any rate.
