This is a completely free-to-play mmorpg (currently in Open Beta) that unlike most, focuses solely on the PvP aspect of the game, and is not your standard grind-fest- in fact there barely is any. Doing the quests for PvE will level you up quickly, so you can easily join your nation and guilds in raids or defense.
At the moment there are 7 classes, and 5 nations. Each nation contains their own relics, which are buffs that affect the entire nation. Therefore, raids and alliances are formed between nations and against nations in order to secure the most buffs(relics) for their own nation.
This game is currently in open beta, with a level cap of 50. ( Me and KawaiiRice easily obtained 40+ in about a week)
TL is playing on server: Ostyrion on PvP, not PvE. This is because mobs/creeps have less HP on the PvP server. Also, quite a few of us are in the guild: HeroesOfChaos There is also an active forum for Aika : http://aika-forum.gpotato.com/ , where you can go to find solutions from technical difficulties,to guides for quests. (Or you can just post in this thread and i'm sure someone will help )

Designed to re-imagine the "massively" in MMORPG, Aika presents three major PvP modes which run from small skirmishes to 1000 vs. 1000 warfare. This comprehensive PvP system is unique among current MMORPGs for its gigantic scope, and it is this element - along with a fantastically detailed world and sweeping storyline - which has earned the game many enthusiastic reviews for its quality of play. Aika won the Best of Show: Prime Minister Award, Player's Choice: Best Online Game, and Best Game Design & Scenario at the 2009 Korean Game Awards, organized by the Korea Game Industry Agency (KoGIA) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
With over 1,000 quests, hundreds of monsters, and 15 gorgeously rendered areas, Aika holds its own as a thrilling single-player experience. However, it is the depth of the PvP system that sets this game apart. The world of Aika features five nations - each possessing its own distinct personality and populated by thousands - which, along with a comprehensive guild system, lays the groundwork for truly epic military clashes. Guilds and nations may ally with each other in exciting Castle Sieges to gain control of a nation and lord over its subjects, while entire nations may scheme with and against each other to win wars with glory, treasure, and powerful ability enhancements at stake. Aika's launch in North America marks its premiere into the Western hemisphere. It is currently being published in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and Gala-Net is pleased to bring Aika to its millions of gPotato users. Aika is being developed by JoyImpact, a development studio owned by HanbitSoft, one of the largest online game publishers in Asia. Aika is expected to launch in Spring 2010.

Amazing game at the moment. Hard to believe all of this is happening on just the second day of open beta... Come join us @ Ostyrion!
We won a castle siege! :D These guilds and guild alliances have won the right to rule over their nations for the next week! Congratulations!

******General advice/ tips*****
-Questing is the fastest possible way to level, so stay away from grinding mobs.
-Do not buy equipment- you will get them in drops and quests.
-The first person to hit a mob , receives the kill. So there is no point in attacking a creep that someone else has already aggro'd
Play around with your hotkeys! Some very important ones to note are the Quest Hotkey - L Map Hotkey- M
As quests will appear on your map, and detailed instructions on how to complete them will be on your quest list.
[Trouble with Quests?] However, sometimes you might have trouble with quests, whether it be where a certain mob is, or where the boss for that region is located. Search them in the link provided or post in this thread, as most of us have already done the quest you are on, or message a TL.net member in the list above. I will try to frequent this thread a lot to help as well. http://aika-forum.gpotato.com/viewforum.php?f=48
[Pran Quest] When your character reaches level 7 a pran quest becomes available to you at the Flour Mill.(Speak with captain cromwell) There are 3 types of Pran - Water- defensive - Wind- hp/mp regeneration & dodge - Fire- offensive
[Citizen Quest] When you hit level 10, your character can register to become a citizen of your nation! Speak with the town director in Regenshein. This is important because you need to be a citizen in order to join guilds, so complete this quest first then PM any of us to invite you to our guild
[Refine, Reinforcing & Enchanting] In the top right of Regenshein, there are 3 important NPCs and an anvil, you will use these to craft, enchant and reinforce your weapons/ armor. + Show Spoiler [Guide] +
[Boring Errand Chain Quest] I might add, for your 3rd bag quest, pick sister Leah NOT KiKi. Otherwise you will have to do a very long sub-quest to get your 3rd bag.
[Help no more quests i'm level ~14] Don't worry, just do the repeat quests top left ( Bitter mushroom farm ) , till you hit level 16. Best way is to party with various people so you complete the quests fast. When you hit 16 you will start to receive more quests.
[Farmer Pavolo] For some reason the NPC in PvP is missing, switch to PvE to find.

The Cash shop has not been released, although one has been announced There's no super god item you can buy- its mostly just items you can obtain in the game, that are rare, is the way they've suggested it in the descriptions. 440 MB is the file setup and the patches are minimal, as the game has just started. Took me 30mins to dl with 400kb/s and <1min for the patch
Theres a mount quest at level 40 that costs 2million or a long quest.. that ends up costing 500k and lotsa time.. + so definitely selling equip can help with this.
... but if u disassemble u can get pieces of caelium, etc.. which make intermediate pots (good for PvP) (heal 520)

Me and my friends all started in the Lenaria nation does that mean I won't be able to play with people from other nations or? And it would also be nice if someone with endgame experience could explain what the classes basic roles are and update the OP with it, seeing as how the wiki for this game is next to useless.

You can kill us. lol
If Lenaria and Ostyrion's Lord Martials ally, then we can play together.
Warriors are next to useless in mass scale PvP. They're only decent outside of PvP and.. since when is that important? Lul Warlocks lay down AoE spells, high damage. Easiest leveling out of all classes. Paladins tank. Lowest damage but has useful spells including stuns and DG/Rifles target squishy players. Clerics can support or be battle type (triple cast tempest is really strong ;;
It's good if you have several buffing classes to assign one buff specialization for a class. That way you can spread out your skills more on other spells. For example, warriors have three buffs. If you have three warriors, one would specialize in each and you would have more skill points to go around.

It's your Pran, part of being an Aitian or something
Kind of like a pet you get for free (quests anyways)
You feed it, uh interact once in a while with dialogue, and choices, and it gives you buffs. Also levels so it learns more skills and levels up the skills. Most are passive, but some are active, so you (er your Pran) cast it. Of course, if your devotion is low, they won't cast it all the time, but later on it will. It levels up as you gain experience and undergoes transformation.
Its just a part of the game that is kind of different. Like it or not, your stuck with it xD

Don't bother with polymorph/mana shield and some other thing.
Lightning Orb has one sec cooldown and slows the enemy down. Fireball is like 1.2 or something Probably more mana cost, but the lower cast time and slowing down enemy really helps

Dude DG gets this spell where if u cric them , it stuns them for 3 seconds. I don't really like the idea of restarting everything in one of the already well-off nations But if you guys wanna switch, Alethius it is.
I'm staying since IRL friends are playing in Osty already. I doubt we are really going to participate in mass PvP much anyway, this game is more of a "lol-ive-played-too-much-sc-time-for-some-ez-game" game.
Yeah, don't switch servers - we will make Ostyrion the TL server and rape shit left and right. We should start a guild for TL members though, would be pretty sweet.

EDIT: Im having problems deciding what class im gonna play, my Paladin is my highest leveled char but it seems like paladins sucks for PvP. Im considering making a Dual gunner or rifleman instead. Anyone know which ones is the best for pvp?
You need Paladins to take hits >_> They have stuns and silence so they're not too bad PvP, but they aren't the damage dealers. They also are a requirement for dungeons (have fun doing a dungeon boss w/o a paladin)

synApse you wanna move the guild to another nation where we won't get constant surprise-butt-sectsed by other ppl?
I agree, paladins sucks A level 2 rifleman can take out a level 8 paladin easily.

Continue being a paladin - literally everyone will love you forever (believe me, paladins physically can not die). Also, you just suggested that we make TL guild and then quoted a post that implies that there already is a TL guild.
(There is a TL guild, if that wasn't obvious)

They don't suck in PvP - they do less damage than DPS classes obviously, but make up for that with great stuns and infinity health.

If you're a citizen then yes, I'll invite you when you get on. You can try adding some of the other people in the guild (listed on a previous page) and have them invite you.
lolol I just got spawn-killed over and over and over and over and over and over again by a team of DG/WL/cleric =.=' And when I tried to 1v1 them I got wtfpwned by DG lol~
im going to guess that this game will have a cash shop or something of the sort when it is finally released
if this isnt the case, i would pick this mmorpg up so fast, i love mmorpgs and i usually get really good at them, but i HATE paying real life money so i quit them for good. if this mmorpg wont have a cash shop in its future ill definitely play it, can anyone find out if there will be a cash shop?

NOOO DONT BE A DG T___T
why - does everyone pick DG? so does the health pran really matter since DG seems so squishy anyways? Is it better to just go for attack? For skills - should I invest everything I can in skills for my class, or wait for the better skills. For weapons/armor - Should I bother buying new ones yet? Also, is there a place to store items so I don't have to sell everything?

For Pran, hm, I would probably say Fire or Air, but maybe the defense can help as well :/
For Skills, don't worry about it really. Skill reset is readily available (just have to pay in game gold)
Weapons/armor, well if you do the quests, you get your weapons and armor well I know up to level 30 they do (stopped playing due to school)
yes there is a bank. Sutherland, in the Market area place. And once you get pran, you will get the pran bag, which holds quite a lot of stuff. You can't place certain items in their for some reason... which is kind of meh...

ofc there will be a cash shop since this is a f2p mmorpg...
where would they get their revenues if not for cash shops :d
i guess you love playing mmorpgs until their commercial release eh? :D
naa, hostile alliance consist of DreamZ and prodigy. from what i see, DreamZ is actually quite competent in both pve and pvp.
i don't knw about rule34 and their alliance, but something bad must have happen to them yesterday to get broken into 10 minutes after CS start. that was bad leadership and defence.
Well i finally got to lv20! I had help from a lv35 fighter (idk his class) from Rule34 and i ran into a TL Lurker! So now i have 3 people who arent in the guild yet who want to be in the guild. synapse can you give me rank 4 so i can add those 3 ><

I'm quite new to the game, but i heard that DreamZ is a Singapore guild? Probably i shall strive to enter that guild =D
I read through 20-40 pages on the official Aika forums and lots of people are saying that Paladins can't do shit in pvp before level 50 with good gear. Since i only do pvp and despise pve thats a pretty big problem
Also, AFAIK warlocks and clerics are the best classes right now in terms of pvp. Heard that they both have insane AoE, warlocks can tank lots of damage with mana shield and clerics can heal etc.
It's so frustrating to try to go through cabin NORMAL with a party of idiots... they all have their own cute ideas that get themselves killed ~.~ 5th try with 5th party, still havent gotten past 2/3 of the way through...
On April 05 2010 00:04 Hyaach wrote: get a cleric get a pally, and get no one else. lol
its even more frustrating to be half way through lost mine elite and the server dies on you.
Oh i know I was like WTF! Finally lvl 11 in 3 hours and hours grinding for those essence takes FOREVER!
You coulda whispered someone else from TL, you dont need essences after a while. Personally I have like... 70 of each...
WHAT!! I didn't know The bad thing is that i did an hour of griding those essence just to get 2 pan (Fire and Wind). add me on friends IGN: Tekin O_O 5 hours maintenance
I just started this with 4 friends. I managed to work them into the same server but they're bent on making their own guild. Bahh now I can't join the pro TL guild .
Also, KTY suggested that some of us join Tactics instead - since TL most likely isn't going to be a very prominent guild in the realm of Osty guilds
so should we just leave the TL guild then lol.
Nono, only a few of us may leave; if I leave (when i get past like lvl 30 or 35), i'll just pass guild mastership to someone else.
who can leave then?
by "a few of us may leave," i meant "a few of us might leave" ... it's not like im not permitting a certain amount of people leaving... we have 2 ppl that are currently lvl 30+, they could join tactics if they really wanted to.
Lol I didn't really like tactics that much except for a few people, so I'm in Ruin now and they allow all members to invite so get to 30+ and I'll inv you guys
Osty doesn't have any good guilds, I'm only in it for the archon buffs

I want to be clear as the OP. You CANNOT join guilds if you dont complete the Citizenship Quest which is on Lv10. Once you have done it, Whisper SleepyGuardian, kitan, Myay, or me (IPXSyMPhOnY). If i left some one out whos Rank 3 or higher, sorry! i only remember 4 >_> if no one is on, feel free to PM me here. but not today! im busy :l
I see a lot of TL guild members running around whenever I play. I like Warlock better than DG, but I still want to try cleric before I settle on a class. Any idea what the best type of pran is for those classes?

water for cleric, air for DG, air/fire for WL... or so i hear
On April 07 2010 06:24 GhostKorean wrote: nooo i got air for cleric is that bad
Air for cleric is ok I think
Air is okay for cleric, since you get a +avoidability and lower mp cost spell.. which is useful. I don't have any personal basis for saying you should have gotten water, that's just what other HoC guild members told me.
i swear after you reach 49, honor farming raid parties are the only fun things once in a while. that and stopping raid parties from other country from crossing into tabarza
Well apparently they are I.P. banning all accounts that are not North American. So i guess some of us will get messed by this happening. There has been a Global version in the works not sure of release date though. All in all its kind of sad whats happening. http://aika.t3fun.com/Home/Home.aspx <------thats the link to the global version.
lmao we just exploited the shit out of aika while we had the chance, all the hostile/dreamz who were gonna get ip banned went into ashwood and explore whatever maps that the koreans are already playing but is closed on Gpotato aika. We had 2 raid parties in the first hour and we meet mobs that aoes for 3.5k. After that another party got tp in by warlocks and we found the next dungeon after lmw, too bad its open to 51 and above only
Wait, Aika is now U.S. only? What was their reasoning behind that? I have decided to stick with my warlock; can someone in the TL clan invite me sometime? MisterDespair

lol people still play this? i used to destroy this game. i logged on a while back but everything was dead.
o_O do you have the quest that tells you to go there? It's called "permission to ... something" so maybe you need that quest? You're lvl 31, so I don't see why it would be blocked for you...
On April 16 2010 11:35 wfoperational wrote: I have never seen this before lol
And how can you play with such a small window? I'm playing with 1366x768 and still gets frustrated by stuffs blocking my view
It seems as though the UI was made for widescreen. Set your desktop resolution to a widescreen res then set the game to "Desktop Window Mode" :D. If you use the game's widescreen then all the buttons won't be aligned. DWM takes care of that .

I heard they're launching Aika Global soon... Can't wait for it so I don't have to deal with gPotato anymore! I hope global will be better this time around! I'm a dual gunner and I'm currently in level 29 already... I'll be sad if they delete my account, all my efforts in playing the game will be gone...
This is the final update on the Aika service restriction issue announced on April 7, 2010. We informed the community that gPotato’s version of Aika Online would be restricted to the North American region. On April 7 (PDT), we limited new player registrations from outside of North America, but did not block existing non-North American player accounts.
We’re pleased to announce that non-North American player accounts which existed on or before April 7 (the day the registration IP block took effect) will be able to play gPotato’s version of Aika. The registration restriction will remain in effect for new accounts outside of North America. We realize that the past few weeks have been a time of uncertainty for the community, and we appreciate your patience while we resolved this matter. We thank you for your understanding and invite you to join us on the forums and in the land of Lakia for all of the wonderful plans we have in store!
