Or post on ESR. The game is dead.

played it for a little bit when it was in open beta
I wasn't able to adjust to its movement when Q3A first came out and I still wasn't able to adjust with Quake Live. so I stopped playing.

There are as many as there were in Q3. That is to say, not many, and declining.

And how come is there not enough players? Bull shit. Obviously its not going to compete with CS or casual fps games like MW2 but currently it is the most played fast paced fps game no contest.

Sadly for you bandwagoners, this man is right. QL pretty much failed and is slowly dying, from an already fairly small community.

I really like to watch that game and recently played some matches for fun.. im not good though

Dont listen to Verdic i just think he doesn't like Quake that's all. Quakelive.com is not dead, not even near it.
Btw, post ur "id's" everyone. So we can game some.

No it's actually growing bigger and bigger everyday. There are plenty of tournaments for it, most notably and quite recently dreamhack. It's also brought a lot of top American quake3 players out of the woodwork such as dahang, rapha, chance and dkt, which indicates to me that it certainty isn't 'dead' where you're from.
You played the game for like 5minutes and then quit right?
|
I don't really get what he means by dying, there's probably less casual players than when the open beta was released but the competitive scene is very good right now and new leagues are popping up.
And as I said before, there really is no alternative for the fans of fast paced fps action, other games have even less players.
|
No I rather play cpm or warsow or even just osp. I think the only reason people play ql is because it's where the money is which is kinda sad but has always been like that in fast-fps scene. people switched from q3 to painkiller, q4 and ql and people switched from rtcw to et to et:qw(worst game ever) even though the first game was the best all the time...
|
If you play quake these days, you play Quake Live. Everyone with skill does that and they host tournaments all the time. It's free and it's a great game and the server is sweet. Download it and have a go, if you like the game you will like QL for sure. And if I didn't shout it out enough: It's NOT dead.
|
Is someone playing ? i got a few added now give me ur ids guys, so we can hang and play some.
|
i dont remember my id xD Played during Beta and a bit after that. Will start playing again this week since I got no more game to play until March 9

The game will end up dying a bit too quickly because the skill level is mostly loyalists to the game and is hard for newer players to approach with any sort of optimism.
Basically the community is alive but it's small, so there isn't a plethora of noobs for other noobs to play against. Like how people keep on playing starcraft because there's tons of D/D- players to level out with, a game wouldn't be as fun if you kept getting handing C+ and higher players.
Basically it's a testament to quake 3's gameplay that QL has succeeded as much as it has but it's slowly dying. =(

I don't agree with you, I haven't played for years n years, and i just got back. Its going pretty well and they got games for "newbies" to play vs "newbies" too. So its actually not that very high skill gap between the players since u can play at the same skill lvl as yourself.
whats ur id btw? ;<

Hmm I used to play Q3 hardcore for a few years but haven't given QL a try yet, might sign up and see how it feels. IF and when I can drag myself away from HoN that is. ^___^

You are registering a name on a site. Which is connected to ur game. Which gives u stats. If u keep changing name it will not work at all. But u can change colors And yes u can make private servers/games. ;P

theres a community, but they're very very good and its even harder to get in to the quake scene now then it is for starcraft(since sc2 and the flood of newbies and wownubs)
i play every now and then for fun and played quake 3 at a top level for 2-3 years until moving on to 1.6/starcraft.

lol don't listen to Vedic, he loves Quake. He's just permanently depressed because Quake Live is basically VQ3 (which was basically the mainstream slower-paced ruleset to Quake 3).
QL is nothing compared to StarCraft in Korea, true, but it has a pretty solid scene in both Europe and America which isn't going away any time soon.

I quit with everyone else when it WASN'T even VQ3.
