huh? Kassadin's is about as worthless as Annie than in that case, which is this case means not worthless at all. Kass has a nuke that silences and a ranged AoE that slows. Annie has the obviously better passive but I don't see how either caster is weak during the laning phase.
Also, most Kassadins stack Catalyst early on. This is especially true after Mejai's was reworked into a snowball item. It's no longer necessary that Kassadin rushes for Mejai's. As long as he has Force Pulse, Kass is a force to be reckoned with in team fights.

Annie has a nuke that doesn't cost mana if you last hit correctly, and has a ranged attack. Huge difference to kassadin. Kass has a nuke that silences and aoe that slows, but you can't exactly use it very often. Catalyst "early on" is still level 5-6, depending on how much the other team lets you farm.
Annie also plays a somewhat different role to kassadin. She is mainly there for the stuns later on, and doesn't really need to stack AP to be useful.

yeah as my level went up, the newbies stopped coming so frequently, lol, averaging , 14-5/6-10 with kass now... annie looks cool, buying her and switching to nukesssssz
e: i was going melee kass, never had any problems holding my own, even if I'm leading the team in kills im still catching shit from every1 for going melee kass... whats up with that? ability kass is so late game, don't want to spend 55 minutes on that crap...

It's not the not dying. It's the fact that if people are bad at him and don't play him well he's completely useless. Just a walking blob of health that wobbles around on your team.

There are basically 3 challenges for a Mundo player. Balancing DPS with survivability, knowing what risks you can take, and BEING MANLY ENOUGH TO PLAY HIM.
Hitting with cleaver isn't that important. Usually you need someone else with a reliable slow to chase well anyways.
Also, the biggest pub headache I have ever endured was a Heimer/Alistar team. They just camped in the bushes and killed the Cho'Gath that kept charging headfirst into them despite the utter lack of a threat they posed anywhere else.

I played with a Cho'gath that complained about Twitch being overpowered...

Cho'Gath seems to attract either really good players or absolutely awful ones. I have never played with a mediocre Cho'Gath.
Oh! I actually got to play 2 games with Shurelia! It was pretty awesome.

I used to play a mediocre Cho'gath, till I started going leviathan on him, so now I either do really well or really poorly
Also, Pendragon has the best Bloodthirsterx2 before boots Shaco I've ever seen (that was a while ago tho)
