yeah, Mango + Hungrybox brought Puff out of the mid-tier in like 2010
HBox is still a top player with Puff though, so it makes some sense for her to be pretty high

Yea, tiers can be heavily influenced by tournament placings. Mike brought DK up from low tiers, Taj brought Mewtwo up from bottom. This is especially prevalent with lower tier characters because they're so underdeveloped compared to the higher tier ones and it takes a good player that can utilize its weapons to bring it into the spotlight.

Man Gamecube controllers are expensive. I really want to sink some time into Melee to gain at least 1 rank over awful. The documentary really motivated me.

Aren't they around $35? That's less expensive than a good controller for a modern console :S You could probably bum one off a friend though, if they can even find their old cube. All my non-smasher friends have donated me theirs.
@Fishgle does PM have better online than Brawl, or does it use the same netcode, because the loss of soft trigger presses really isn't worth it if its online is ass

Well, somebody in germany has to tell me some secret then. I see used controllers selling for 35€+ on ebay and amazon. Sadly everyone I know who owned a GC sold it years ago. Except for one guy who has only 1 controller and is the dude I want to play with. :D

Anyone in the chicago area want to get some melle games in? I have been playing competatively for many years. I am a falco / MewTwo main

Mango and Hbox brought her out, but a large number of tourney pros picked her up - I remember getting smoked by M2K's jiggs once in tourney in VA.

Yes, that's an accurate analogy :D PM is fucking great. I actually switched from Melee to PM, because the mechanics are good enough and it was nice to freshen things up.

From what I understand a lot of the lower tier chars have a higher chance of moving up if someone good and innovative plays them because they have a lot of unexplored potential

Retardedly late to the party but holy shit that documentary is incredible. It's the gold standard for documentaries, it's like someone watched NFL Films all day every day and internalised everything that makes it unbelievably epic and then reproduced it for the niche genre of Smash :D.
