Btw, I never did read Curiosity in Lotus Asia. I guess I can just read it on the touhou wiki, right? I kinda find Rinnosuke boring though Maybe this'll change my mind?
|
yup, http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Curiosities_of_Lotus_Asia I read about 2/3rds of it, then a few chapters didn't have a translation, and it got a little boring, so I sort of skimmed through to the end. It was amusing try and read the hirgiana side by side. I think since then they've translated (<3 translators are awesome) those chapters. added more pictures (full scans + covers i think) which are pretty. Other people have called it slice of life but in terms of medium and story style it isn't really similiar to anything.

I think Inaba&Inaba was the best. Followed by 3 Fairies.
|
Oh yeah I forgot ZUN makes official manga too xD. So are those published, or just sold as doujin material?
|
Any metalhead out there should listen to Barrage Am 1 B side. Half of the tracks are good and xi-on's track is more awesome than those on their own album.

man that marisa reply was so perfect t.t

Which game of the series is the best or good for beginner? i have played mountain of faith and perfect cherry blossom. MoF is my favorite part so far and, after weeks of training, i was able to beat it on easy (i always play without bombs or using continues these games)
|
Haha, what's the name of this doujin? I'd like to see the rest if there's any more of it.
I think as far as the official manga goes Wild and Horned Hermit has the potential to be my favorite, but right now there are too few issues to tell. Also is makes pretty big references to other official works and games so it's a bad place to start if you want to get into the official manga. It's got moments like this where Sanae is talking about the events of Subterranian Animism and gets a troll answer from Reimu and Marisa. http://www.mangafox.com/manga/touhou_ibarakasen_wild_and_horned_hermit/v01/c002/8.html The next few pages don't make much sense if you haven't read Silent Sinner in Blue.
The official mangas were all published in magazines as far as I know. I don't know which ones. The artist that draws the comics for the 3 fairies of light also did the art for Touhou 12.8 Great Fairy Wars.

MoF is my favorite part so far and, after weeks of training, i was able to beat it on easy (i always play without bombs or using continues these games) I think most people say that Imperishable Night is the easiest for beginners, because it's easiest to deathbomb in. Deathbombing is when you activate your bomb the moment you're hit by a bullet and saving yourself from losing a life. In Imperishable Night the game actually freezes for a split second and allows you to spend 2 bombs to keep yourself from dying. I've heard some people complain that it teaches them a bad habit for the other games since they aren't as lenient with deathbombing. Though without bombing it might be one of the harder games in the series.
Other people have also mentioned that the latest game Ten Desires feels like Zun simplified some things to make it a good entry point for newer players. Some also consider it one of the easier games in the series. Overall I don't think it matters which one you start with. Plus if you've beaten Kanako's last spellcard "Mountain of Faith" on easy without bombing I think you're good enough to play any of the Touhou games. It's one of the few spellcards in the series that is considered harder on the easy than normal. + Show Spoiler [Mountain of Faith Comparison] +

lol at the doujin thing. tho alice freaking out is not cool.
omg so many posts lol
@greenelve
I would suggest playing or trying EoSD first. Most players play this one first because it's the first PC game and because, I feel, the characters and music are most iconic in the series, or at least one of the more iconic ones. I hear it's harder (and TH07 PCB is much easier than EoSD) but it doesn't mean it's not as fun right? xD

This would be Crazy Slow ★ Pain by Sayakata Tea Mansion
This circle's other stuff is quite funny too. I particularly liked the "Yuyuko" doujinshi, and his contribution to the Rumiac World anthology, "Bug Bastard, Was it". Haven't seen anything recent from them though.
|
rumiac? rumia? =O maybe i should check it out
|
|
LOL an anthology? cool thanks xD this should be good way to procrastinate i mean read manga

@ Arolis+Yoshi Kirishima
thanks for your answers, so i will try th6 and 13 as next ones, after i have finished pcb (im almost able to beat stage 1-4 without loosing a life) and yeah music, specially in MoF is great. (about the last spellcard being easier on normal, i already read about it :p )
and how about this function of MoF where you can collect items more easily in focus mode...does the newer games, beginning with th10, have this feature? cause its pretty good to gain max power and items for new lifes ^^x
ps: Imperishable Night would be hard for me, cause for me the game is about dodging, not bombing, so i dodge all the time :p
and a thing i couldnt figure out so far by using internet, what does the faithmeter? is it just to gain more points for your highscore?
edit: i have played The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and the difficulty is weird...the game itself feels less hard which it good for beginners, but you cant see your hitbox so you need touhou experience which makes the make a bit too easy compared to the other ones. and for beginner it can become not understandable why you live and why you die, seeing your hitbox is much better if you want to learn the game. something like this..

im not familiar with anything (game wise) but TH 6-8 sorry i do not think those things are in 6-8
Locked Girl, by Aojiru + Show Spoiler +
This has a pretty special place today. I started listening to it. It's epic. I've been tired. I've been thinking a lot about my future. Suddenly after 1.5 hours of looking up stuff and thinking, I realized that (are you at 2:10 in the song yet? probably not kekek) there IS a Bachelor of Arts in Music offered at U Mich, I simply had to look at the liberal arts college instead of the music school's website, oops! haha...
Fucking aojiru, I wonder if you actually play these or they are just on the computer (doesn't sound like TAM is playing them neither, maybe I'm wrong).
As for abab, I realized that the last time he actually "arranged" a piece (apparently when he arranges a song, he will label it as an Arr. to signify that he played around with the arrangement, and it is not just a plain copy, trasnscription, or etc. that can be played on the piano), was 5 years ago. DAMN. He released that "arrange" (AKA where he puts those jazzy/improv sounding sections into the songs, and sometimes mixes bits of other touhou themes in too) recently, in the last summer (Love Colored Master Spark). However, it apparently was actually simply the background/accompaniment for some Vocaloid Hatsune Miku arrange of the song, which was released on an "album" online in 2006. So he already had the whole thing composed, he simply reposted it without the vocals, and released (or made?) the sheet music in the summer of 2011.
So, it's been 5 years since he's made what I feel are his most epic arrangements... I wonder when his next one will be. I'm sad, I hope he makes one soon xD. He should have improved obviously, so I hope the next "arrange" he makes is like 2x better than what he's released in the past. He's only been doing faithful touhou arranges, which he releases like every 3 months. At some points back then he arranged like 6 of them in 2 weeks... damn lol. I hope he's not losing interest in ZUN T_T
OH AND FUCK YES. I'm dual enrolling at a college (again for 2nd sem), and they have a japanese class whose time slot i can actually attend xD i'm such a gay weeaboo fgt.

Haha was listening to remix of Master Spark when I read that comic lol
and yes, getting items is easier from 10+ focus attracts items to you and if you full power, going up to the top will automatically collect all items used to be Marisa exclusive
edit: looking for specific Touhou songs with this type of style or elements :D + Show Spoiler + much thanks~
and can't forget music

god i love monochrome-coat
except that great gods remix, that was pretty bad
anyways let's begin Caller's Heavily Biased Top Ten Touhous of TC81
+ Show Spoiler +10. TatshMusicCircle - FAR EAST OF EAST VI![[image loading]](http://cfile4.uf.tistory.com/image/180C234D4F007EC4311BB4) Tatsh has always been known for producing solid albums, although his naming could be a bit more creative. Still, having gotten a sneak peek of this album a month before, we now have a relatively diverse album that doesn't sound terribad (looking at you, IOSYS!) 1. Introduction (Spirit of Avarice)A weird dubsteppy/technoy version of a song that I don't remember. It's not unpleasant, though, and serves as a nice introduction into... 2. 信仰 -1st Desire- (Shoutoku Legend-True Administrator)I will first admit that I love True Administrator. It is a very good song. That being said, it is possible to ruin it in an arrange, whether it is through overly loli voices (cough IOSYS cough) or by sticking the much louder Emotional Skyscraper-Cosmic Mind on that ENS release. Fortunately, Tatsh keeps relatively faithful to the song, adding decent female vocals to a nice hard driving technobeat matched with some nice guitar work here and there, although there are parts that definitely need to be kept on volume control. 3. 閃光-2nd Desire- feat.ENA (Desire Drive)Let me say that I find Desire Drive, much like Cosmic Mind, overrated. The more I listen to it though, the less I mind it. Here we have a nice light rock with a nice female vocal that, like the previous track, is pretty faithful to Desire Drive's original. It's decent, but nothing special. 4. 雷洸-3rd Desire- (Old Yuanxian)As you see the naming of these songs is quite creative. Unfortunately, turning Old Yuanxian into Happy Hardcore does not good song make. If you like that sort of thing then enjoy, but for those of us with taste this one's a miss. 5. 栄華ノ夜 (Legend of the Great Gods)I love my grey-haired stage 5 bosses, Futo being no exception, and this is probably one of the more experimental songs. It combines techno with a nice piano with a weird submarine beginning. This song is certainly interesting. But I don't think I could enjoy listening to it over and over again. 6. 佐渡ノ寂しがり屋 feat.福山沙織 (Futatsuiwa from Sado)Eh, a bit too technoy for my taste. Plus I didn't really like the extra boss theme, but the female vocal is nice, at least. 7. 瞬甲-DJ MURASAME TEKK MIX- (Youkai Girl at the Gate)I find that this particular Stage 2 Boss Theme has either hit or miss remixes. Either I want to come buckets or throw buckets. I want to throw a bucket at this one, because it is too Happy Hardcore, once again. 8. 天国ノ扉 feat.JUNY (Septette for the Dead Princess)I had trouble figuring out this was a Septette at the beginning, but once it hit the first verse, it became just another generic Septette. Septette has such a common melody that very, VERY few Septette's make a good impression on me (Demetori being an obvious one). This was unfortunately not Demetori class work. 9. 孤独に耐えせし少女ノ祈リ feat.福山沙織 (Voile, the Magic Library)The song captures that level's feeling very well, especially when the books start spamming their shit at you and you drop your pants. Evokes that level very well, but as a song, it's a bit too technoy for me again. 10. (some original)Lol I don't listen to originals Scores: 7/9/8/4/7/5/6/6/7 Average Score: 7/10

wow tatsh has nice cover for that o.o
