몽환 (MongHwan - "Fantasy") is our new map, shown during the OSL Group Selection Ceremony. PGR has some screen captures and a short description. Click the link for many more screenshots.

MongHwan looks like it'll provide us a lot of great games, but from the progamers' perspective it'd be a bitch to prepare for.
Not only do you have to practice a specific matchup, but depending on what position you get, and the position your opponent gets the gameplay could vary a ton.
But according to the interview with the Sparkyz coach about the new map, the progamers enjoy play on it, so we'll see how it turns out.

The "Nostalgia" nat has a geyser though, right? ;o
The embracing of positional imbalance is a bold statement to say the least. It looks interesting, and if the pros like it, then it's probably a good map. Although the Gaema nat always is scary for Zergs, the opponent at least doesn't know that the Zerg is at such an abusable location until a starting build order has been chosen. Thus, a normal 12 hatch expo build is reasonably safe even at the Gaema starting location.

It's Fantasy.
It's an awkward map to look at. Hope we'll get a better image of the map to look at soon. I'm for asymmetrical maps anyhow.

Whatever the name of the map is, it looks kickin' rad. Although balancing it must be a bitch.

It looks like Genosky has the easiest defendable expansions. It will be fun to see how games play out, though.

hmmm, from what I read, the dates are not final. But it says that it will be once a week, so I doubt it'll be much different, if any at all.
And yes, the sponsor will be announced next week.

Hmm, Fantasy/MongHwan reminds me of a 256x256 map of Rivalry, Lost Temple, Plains To Hill and Gaema Gowon? in one map.

Wow probably a totally imbalanced map but it nonetheless looks VERY exciting cause it gives everyone a good feel of good OSL throwback maps. =DDDDD.

The problem with maps that arnt symetrical is that you have to have it balanced in all possible matchup on all possible combinations of starting possitions. There are 12 combinations of starting possitions considering different races and 6 combinations of starting possitions considering mirror matches. There are 9 matchups where 3 are mirrors. 12*6 + 6*3 = 90
So you have 90 possible races/spawns to consider compared to on a perfectly symmetrical map where you only have to care about the 6 matchups. All 90 possible races/spawns ofc dont have to be perfectly balanced like even if the map was symmetrical there would be a little differance between diagonal possitions and others. Its just that all 90 have to be considered so there is no obvious imbalance.
Im not saying a map has to suck because it isnt symmetrical. Im just saying its harder to balance. I think this map looks great and I hope it is. If they have tested it a lot maybe it will work.

wow my first impression is that it is very cool, and i agree with all of you who think assymetrical maps kick ass!
all these new MSL maps are kinda broing imo, and im happy they finally put a crazy map out there!
as you all said, i also think that the games will be really entertaining on this map!

and btw, i think there should be more imbamaps, because, as in poker, there should be an amount of luck involved (reaverstyle~)!!!

Luck is no thanks as far as I'm concerned. This map will be even worse than Desert Fox, which was symmetrical...

Due to the random structure of the map, it will call for some unorthodox builds. I think this is the first map that guys beyond the standard, and with its seemingly cursed boundaries of luck based confrontations, it will call for protoss/zergs to stand even stronger against the menacingly evil that is Terran. Or will they?

OSL now back to 16, and now this coincidence: I think not.
Pros will have alot of time to prepare for these matches, and a good idea of who they will end up playing.
My guess is that OGN has had this map for a while and has been waiting for the perfect moment.

I definitely agree.
Its like I want to argue that this map isnt balanced enough but really, it will be fine. Its a tight map, i like it a lot.
The variety could end up giving it classic status.

The point of asymmetrical map is that it's not balanced 50/50, players will have to make up the difference, in favor or detriment, through skillful playing. People do that anyway, It'll be fine.

The map looks pretty cool, but the positional balance may be pretty bad. I remember a 3 player map from a couple of seasons ago (I have no idea what the name is) that had different routes between the bases. It turned out one of the positions was pretty much auto-win vs. one of the other ones. They got rid of it after one season.
We should see some interesting games at least, because the players will have to improvise a bit more because there are so many scenarios to prepare for.

Hopefully, they'll make newer maps like this which have some balance.
