Didn't expect that but i said this every single round and now Zest is in the finals again! I think whoever he meets there he can take it if he is prepared well, i don't think that Maru is stronger tvp and pvp should be doable as well even if it is vs classic.

All it took was zerg to do trash in a tournament and BOOM Zest in the final again.

He has a great record in finals as well. The only premier final he's lost was IEM Toronto I think.

Zest also ties them both for most wins in one year. However he did it in the year with the least tournaments so it's more impressive

Zest is playing so well this 2018. I really think he can bring home the hardware and trophy. As a fan in general it's hard not to want Zest vs Maru in the finals, would be a legendary matchup.

What do you guy's think about Zest's chances against Maru? I don't think it's as hopeless as some people make it out to be on here. Obviously nowhere close to the favorite but he does have a week to prepare and he has always played Maru well in lotv.

It's never hopeless in GSL, I don't think he is favored but him winning wouldn't be that huge of a surprise to me.

And honestly without saying that Classic isn't a great protoss because he is, I think that he was hugely overhyped and in the end he is not that much better than the other top protoss (you can see how close was his series with TY), so it's definitely not as bad as people make it sounds

Zest plays a very different type of Protoss then Classic though. I think Classic played a bit into Marus' hand by going so gateway heavy. Zest does like the Robo in PvT as far as I have seen

Classic did the same build pretty much every game, Stargate few oracles into twilight and a bit later storm. That build just got shutdown, the oracles barely did anything to start except game 1 and while scouting and traps are nice they really don't add much to a fight vs a big bio army, so it was basic gateway units (without any significant upgrade advantage) vs bio on an even economy which is going to go badly.

Zest can mix it up big time and he rarely goes triple oracle, we've seen pheonix adept and robo play from zest both of which I think match up better vs Maru's style. Zest also has better unit control IMO than Classic.

I am not sure how much I am a fan of Zest. But I respect him as one of the outstanding players who leave a mark. Yes those terrans might be good, but Zest abuses his race and shows skills not only proving his practice, but also his understanding of the game.

Zest will suprise everyone with his level of play tomorrow. Even in the past when he's looked shaky, he still kills it in finals. And slaying kings is his speciality after all.

I'm not sure if he will take it, but he'll put up a better fight than Classic. No chance he goes down without taking 2 or 3 maps.

It will be hard for Zest, but my heart still believe in him. He's one of the first Protoss players I looked up to when he was doing great during HotS. That 1-hand IEM trophy hold.

Let's see if he can take a map or two from Maru. He needs a combination of macro, cheese-builds, and good decision making as well as late game endurance vs Maru (who is in godly form and probably likes late games).
