Compared to the top 5 players (all Koreans), he's not even close. One or two lucky wins against the likes of Life and DRG doesn't prove much. He'll get far in code S, we can count on that. Just don't get your hopes up on him winning anything, or even placing 3rd. His recent victories against Korean Terrans aren't so mind-blowing, either... they're Terran. The only thing amazing about them was that he used some new strategies involving hydras. I think he just wants to start an argument. No one in his right mind would state something like liquidoa. The sad part is, that he will be quoted as an example for the type of fanboy who overhypes Stephano...

Recall that Stephano shortly after going to EG had the highest overall international ELO and the highest overall ELO (of all three races) in vT and vP matchups. Then he basically stopped practicing, abuse-gate happened and he travelled to and competed in a million tournaments. This is all to say that I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect him to do very well in the GSL, assuming he trains regularly for a couple weeks in Korea. I still believe Stephano is the most talented SC2 player. If he's focused and prepared, he's more than capable of winning a GSL (in spite of the extraordinary amount of variance you see in the quality of his zvz play). Edit: Typo

Vs Life, Leenock, Hyun, Sniper, in a boX it will be more hazardous. Still I believe thanks to his raw talent and with some luck or a good preparation he can make a nice run. And if it doesn't, well it's happen. In a super stacked tournament, some very big name have to get out early of the GSL.

I think he will struggle to play against players who are used to tailoring their strategies for their opponents, and where he can't ride the wave of adrenaline by stringing victories in a row. i just hope he does well enough so we dont have to endure all the hater nonsense.

You can't simply tailor your strategy based on vods, you have to actualy play that guy for a consistent period of time to get to trully analyze, understand and dismantle his style. Mana and Hero didn't simply watch some vods of his play style and managed to find and execute an effective counter against him; they got stomped quite a few times before that and even after its still an open outcome fight ( some out of this world micro games come to mind where he defended some immortal allin with very few units) And stephano is way too versatile and oftenly unpredictable when it comes to styles and builds and also has a vast repertoire of strategies. Apart from his ZvZ weakness, I believe he is more than capable of getting to ro8/semis with more practice and korea is the best environment for that (Proleague games will be great practice for him as well). If he gets to play mostly terrans and toss and fewer zergs, he will have a great run. Also alot of people are exagerating with gsl, if a player as inconsistent and very lower overall results as Naniwa can make it to ro8, Stephano can do that 2 or better.

Might be worth watching Sean giving it his analysis... http://day9.tv/d/Day9/day9-daily-535-stephano-roachhydra-zvt/ Highly highly recommended. Sean's in-depth analysis really shines light beautifully on Stephano's hydra play.
