One thing that was fascinating to me was when they asked him about his nanibiceps. Naniwa said that when he was in Korea he practiced so much that he got serious problems with his shoulders and wrists, so now he basically has to work out diligently now to keep his body strong enough to play at a high level.

He was also very thin and looked rather unhealthy, not uncommon for pro-gamers but still not a good thing. Everyone should do what NaNi does now.

Naniwa interview 1 at 07:20 after the Demu 3-2 win. -When you lost the Deadwing game, did you feel that mentally, you were in a bad position? N: Yeah, the longer the game goes against Terran, it feels like they have a 100 chances for game ending timings, before you reach the composition you need with storms and colos. Miss 4 medivacs once, and it can be insta-gg. Forgg and Marinelord regularly makes it feel hopeless for me against Terran on ladder. I don't have a good understanding of the 'win conditions' to play against T. -Explain this game, what happened here? Naniwa talks about how he was behind after a DT start, but that he always plays better when hes behind. His zealot/templar build with upgrade advantage allows him to compete against a 3 base T while stuck on 2 base. -Why didn't you go for 3/3 upgrades in that situation, when you had the money and the opportunity to get more ahead? N: I saw that Demu had 1/1 and I felt like he had two options. Either he goes ghost and timing attack right now, which leaves me with a (2/2) upgrade advantage, and if he doesn't go ghosts, I will have the storm advantage. I felt like if I don't invest too heavily in the late game now, I have a shot at holding now. -They bring up the Serral games, Nani is clearly getting annoyed. He explains that the Serral games mean nothing because game 1 was a build order loss and game 2 was because Naniwa streamed his airtoss build the week before the game for everyone to see. -Your next game is against Zanster, who is the Swedish Champion. Are you after his title now? Naniwa laughs and says I don't care about a title, I just feel that Zanster doesn't deserve it. "I'm the only one who deserves the title of Swedish champion." Naniwa interview 2 at 12:20 after the Zanster 3-0 win. - What just happened here, was it too easy? N: I got lucky with the buildorders, and I read him well. In game 2 Naniwa explains how he forced his opponents to train roaches by applying constant pressure, so that Zanster never had the chance to build his econ properly. -You showed a lot of aggression against Zerg here, is that how you like to play PvZ? N: The way I see the matchup, all Zergs are equally dangerous if you leave them alone to build infinite drones into infinite units. By then it doesn't matter how good the Zerg is, it will always be a challenging game. But if you apply pressure early, you can weed out the weaker Zergs by forcing them to over or make mistakes. If I feel I am equal or better than my Zerg opponent, then I like to be aggressive. -What happened, you've been afk for a while and then you return and just 3-0 your opponents, have you been practising in secret? N: No, but even during my year away from Starcraft, I have been watching every major tournament. I like to watch the game and I've had a love for RTS for years. While watching the game I felt like 'these guys are just no good. I could do better than this'. -Does this mean Naniwa is back for good? N: Well, its hard to keep motivated as I have no opportunity to train in Korea or within the structure of a team and a teamhouse. I will keep playing at the rate I feel is fun to me, but I'm no longer 12 hours a day like I did in the past. -Now that you just returned and crushed the Swedish Champion, what does that say about the Swedish SC2 scene? N: Well, its not like all my skillz just evaporated when I left the scene. Several Swedes like Morrow and Zanster have improved considerably and are playing well. -How strong are you right now? How much do you work out? You look like you've been hitting the weights. (Maddelisk challenges Naniwa to a workout at the gym later). N: I work out a lot, but much of that is to deal with old injuries. If I don't work out - I can't play Starcraft because of shoulder and wrist pains since my time in Korea. -Anything else in your life? Future plans? N: Well, that was pretty much the point of my year off - to find another passion. But it's not something you can force yourself to do. Esports have been my life for 10 years now, its all that I know. There are studies and school that look interesting, but I don't want to throw away my investment in Esports just like that. Naniwa explains that he doesn't want to do school and play half assed, Nerchio style. He doesn't want to have any excuses to fail. 'I want to give LOTV a real chance.' -You seem like a person who takes things very seriously? N: As a person, I like to push things to their extremes. This means I invest and care a lot about the game, which makes me take my losses twice as hard. But that also makes winning twice as sweet. It's a trade off I have to make.
