I get it that you didn't want to do it, but you've just burned a lot of bridges in not only SC2, but e-sports in general. This is not the adult way to handle agreements.

I am also very disappointed by his handling of this. I mean what the actual fuck. Very unprofessional, I would never have an employee like that no matter his skill. I.e. you are not 14 anymore.

You also have to understand that if you are paid by a team ( sponsors), you represent them. You are their marketing image.

If you express your lack of interest for the game they are sponsoring, then whine and quit/forfeit on a super prestigious tournament, then yea.... You actually hurt the ppl that are paying you and make them look really bad, and make them feel like they gave money to someone to hit them in the balls.

I don't think Naniwa cares that much whether or not he hit EG/Alliance in the balls. I know I wouldn't if I was done with the game. Would they keep a totally inactive player, anyway? His only reason for being on the team was to have sustainability while playing SC2. He was done with SC2, so being on Alliance was no longer necessary.

And nobody was surprised.

I hope Naniwa sticks with eSports, cuz he's good, but I hope he's able to chill the fuck out before he finds something he wants to compete in.

Didn't know he was kinda forced to play (although I read his message about quitting SC2 before the tourney) but I am still disappointed by the behaviour during the tournament. Some of these SC2 players call them self Pro-Players, but it is not only about the money, being a PRO means being PROFESSIONAL in other sports, and this wasn't professional after all. No matter the skill, no matter the success he had that far.

It was a little sad seeing him leave the tourney this way being his big fan (I think I was the only one in whole venue who had Swedish flag painted on cheek for him :D), but yeah. Do what's your best for yourself NaNi, and remember that there are people cheering for you despite this major hate going on towards you. Come back soon. :>

Hey aQuaSC.

Somehow your post just made my heart warm up a bit. I love that you had the Swedish flag for Naniwa and that you were there in person to cheer for him. I'm sorry that you were perhaps not aware of the current state of his game form and that he didn't even want to be there. Still, it's so nice to see there's people like you out there with complete faith and passion for a player, and who can even through disappointment keep cheering them on. Kudos to you!

And hey Naniwa. Big thanks for explaining the situation. In some ways it shouldn't have been needed, but people assume so much and isn't it hilarious now how they completely shift the focus on the hate onto something else. Your post warmed my heart as well, not just because you confirmed some things I suspected to be true, but also because it's so good to see that you don't really care about all this crap anymore. Thank you for all the fantastic moments of passion and excitement you've given us.

I was thinking of making a tribute video for Naniwa. I'm not sure if my song would fit well, but I figured it's title would be very appropriate for his history in startcraft "Superhero Context" being that he's only the community hero in certain context.

Dude we don't have all the facts and its unreasonable of you to call alliance a shitty team. It very well could be the case that Alliance is required by contract to attend a certain number of events or something similar.

Naniwa, they didn't force you to play, so stop sugar-coating it that way.

If you are contracted by a team as a professional player, you are expected to compete in events under their banner as it is your job to compete. I would honestly have been surprised if Alliance did keep you on the team after that horrible forfeit during IEM Katowice.

You spent your practice time in the hotel playing League of Legends? I'm sorry but if your mindset is rude at best then I can kinda see why you're the Kong In The North.

Your cheese build messed up? You could have easily salvaged that situation and at least tried to give Polt a run for his money. Daedalus Point is a terrible map anyways.

Naniwa, you're a professional with a job. Whether or not you "want" to play in a tournament doesn't matter. You're being paid to, so you have to. I'd have fired you, too.

Best of luck in your endeavors Naniwa, I hope you do get to return when you feel more motivated, maybe on the wings of the Void.

He's contracted to play under their banner. Unless the contract specifically states that he has to play at IEM Katowice, or at all the majors (even then I don't think he has gone to them all), he has no obligations to do so.

Apparently, he doesn't have to do anything if he doesn't want to :/ . He probably doesn't care about being fired; it probably makes it easier for him to take an indefinite hiatus.

Hmm.. interesting posts on this fanclub, just a passerby browsing. (I can't really call myself a fan or an "antifan", but was curious what happens in this club after the events at IEM).

But, don't you fellas think you're bashing the other side a bit too hard? I see posts here and there about "fakers" and "antifans" and such and such hating on Naniwa because they're stupid / cowardly / mainstream. And, while it's true there are people like that, (especially you, reddit), there are some of us who were genuinely annoyed that we got gimped on a potentially really awesome series.

Polt vs Naniwa, before IEM, anybody would have to admit this was gonna be one helluva match. Both have been playing since WoL and have had huuge success, and hell, this match had a foreigner in it, the only one in the brackets. So many things to look forward to, so much hype, so much expectations.

And what did Naniwa do to us hopeful people? Not only did he not put up a good show, he didn't put up a show at all. Excuse some of us if we express genuine disappointment and disapproval (like TB), it's not to hate on Naniwa because of his character and BM, but because he let us fans down. We're not sitting here frothing at the mouth, hopping on the hate train. We're just sad / frustrated that he has absolutely no regard for the audiences' hopes and desires.

What could he have done? If he didn't practice and didn't care, why bother playing at all? Look at the potential players who could have filled his spot if he had forfeited his spot instead of wasting a potential good match- Jaedong, Hyun, Dear, hell- Leenock even. Any of these players would have given it their all, and even if they went down 3-0, it would have been a good show. But Polt winning 1-0, that's just painful to think about in a tournament as large as IEM.

I'll take my leave, knowing some of you will simply bash that I'm criticizing Naniwa in his own fanclub, but the point is, there are genuine people out there who have good reason to be at least a little frustrated with Naniwa and think "good riddance" after all of this. If you guys are generalizing every single one of us as "haters" and "cowards", then are you really that much better?

First off, I hope you read this, because im not gonna bash your post, I'm simply gonna show you my hand.
Secondly, I wanna stress that your post is nothing but a post about disappointment, and a clarification going with it. I would never call that hate! No one will. Even in the fan club.
I am not gonna try to convince you that what he did was right, but in the end, the tournament allowed for this to happen, so if it happens, it's an okay move. Therefore he has my support. He did not want to play, and he checked with the tournament crew if he could forfeit, then by all means forfeit. People can express disappointment and disapproval all they want, Naniwa is Ok with that, he has stated that he doesn't care what people think. But when pure hatred comes along, then there's the limit.
You are missing the point entirely if you believe that you who are "genuinely annoyed" is the target of the comments here in the fanclub.

Lastly, everyone who's into the scene already knew it was going to be a one sided series since Naniwa hasn't been practicing for over a month, so expecting that is kinda odd if you ask me. I wanted to see the matches because I love seing him play and I love his attitude and spark towards getting better. Without that attituded and spark, and with very onesided games, I do not mind that he left early.

And if you think I am defending Naniwa with this statement, I am not. I am defending my standpoint in this drama process.

Read and appreciated. I suppose a soundproofing issue would only be a major factor for the Naniwa-Polt series, so he had reason to be upset. I've come to realize thinggs like this ultimately come down to a drama war between xxxx's fanclub, and reddit.

As a side note, i suggest y'all fellas to stay away from reddit for the next few days. Almost ironic to my original post, it's the anti-fans who are being absolutely unreasonable, and not all of us who don't fully approve of Naniwa are like redditors :/
