To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

After waking up today, I was excited to see the new SNSD video. Unfortunately, after watching the whole thing, it felt as if my parents had been hinting at a Nintendo 64 for christmas, only to find out I got a pack of rosearts.

whats with the hate, i reckon the boys is a sick song. it has an almost aggresive feel, they just upped the stakes in the mv department too. this song is at the very least marketable in the west, will be interesting to see how that goes.

As far as marketable songs in the west, I would rate Orange Caramel - Bangkok City higher, as well as a number of Miss A songs at the very least.

Can't think totally offhand what else where is, but The Boys is pretty much generic garbage as far as western music goes and is like B-movie level compared to most western music.
If you are going to make something western, then they could at least try and keep something k-pop about it. Making carbon copy western crap that isn't even as good as most existing stuff hopefully won't do anything for them.

I totally agree. I don't understand all the hate because of The Boys. It's a very different SNSD song, and as above mentioned, I think it has an aggressive sound, which I think suits their "mature concept" quite well.

Or if you do carbon copy, make it better than what Western artists put out (not hard) instead of worse.

Because it's Korean music discussion, not Korean Music Fanboy Over the Groups You Like. As long as you're being respectful about your criticism I don't really care; if I just wanted to see endless posts of adoration I'd go to a fansite about a specific group, but I think that the KMD thread is better than that cause we're all semi-intelligent, can take criticism of our idols, and can post awesome stuff that I wouldn't have seen otherwise instead of "I LOVE TIFFANY AND HER HAAIR AND THE WAY SHE SINGS YAHHHHHHHHH!"

No, there are plenty of people in this thread who flip their shit at the slightest criticism or hint that someone dislikes what they like.

I had image of this Teddy Riley of being plague when there were topics about him and that girl group which debuted this year that he supposedly produced. I already then tried to google out if he had ever actually made a good song, and never found any. I hate how he's now called names like "none other than" as if he's some big shot. All I see is the worst SNSD single they've published. I hope rest of the songs are better, and hopefully they'll have a followup single soon.

Like I said before, the only noteworthy thing Teddy has done was that he co-produced Michael Jackson's Dangerous album. And considering that some of us don't really know MJ's work, you probably wouldn't have heard Teddy's name until he hit the Kpop scene. Teddy isn't that famous, nor should he get the recognition that people claim.

I like to think that most of the "regulars" or frequent posters can take a little criticism, but today/SNSD release saw the creation of a lot of new accounts and people posting that wouldn't otherwise.

Thought he was fine too. A bit more critical than most but hey, it's his opinion and he's entitled to it. The only terrible post I think I've seen was ImYoonA's that contained bad language and slurs but he/she got temped for 1 week for it so I think we're good.

Is not everyone entitled to his own opinion? If people think its shit then they will express so, if you want praise 24/7 you should go to SSF and not here.

I mean I'm kinda fueling the fire but I just didn't like hearing the song on my way to work then checking the forums for 10 pages of garbage. Can't we all just bro five and dance like snoopy.

I think I'm liking Top secret the best out of the album so far.. except for the fact that the beginning reminds me of Rock Lobster. Is it just me?

It has a mind of its own. It's become something non of us can handle even nazgul himself can't stop it. I like it when stuff gets posted here before allkpop or soshified etc etc.

Yeah a lot of the time it's the Korean Music Hating thread but there are posters here who think for themselves instead of following the masses and are not afraid of expressing their opinion even if it's completely different than what the majority says etc. And no matter how much I may disagree with many of them at the end of the day I still respect that sort of thing.

I feel ya bruh, being the lone 2ne1 fan is meh .

Also I only shit talk snsd because sones get super defensive and it satisfies my trolling needs moreso than any other section on these forums. But they really aren't that bad (cept for hyoyeon shes the one trolling all of us)

I think the reason why everyone is hating on The Boys so much is because of what it represents. First, Teddy Riley hyped it up a lot leading us to believe it was amazing. Instead we got a song that didnt suit their style. This type of style should be left to 2ne1. Second, this is the second chance that kpop has been given to be successful in the US. Because the song isnt the best that SNSD can do, it doesn't look good for kpop in general. It could have become the doorway for kpop to expand into the US, but as we've seen, it's huge failure.
