- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Criticism is fine, as long as it doesn't go overboard and is somewhat respectful. People aren't expected to type out well-written critiques and can say something is "crap" if they feel like it is. An example of out of line would be the stuff "iMYoonA" was posting earlier.
As far as my opinion, The Boys isn't that bad, but it's definitely a big disappointment considering the hype and expectations. I strongly suspect it was chosen as the main song because SM thought it would be the most American-friendly, which it might be since it was probably the easiest song to make an English version of and mask their Korean accent with (with the obvious exceptions of Tiffany and Jessica). The "rapping"/"chanting" parts were careful to exclude any words that are difficult for Koreans to pronounce, such as "L" or "V" sounds, which they then used to take up what seemed like most of the song. The actual singing portions weren't too long and seemed to be given mostly to those members who have the best English (Tiffany, Jessica, Seohyun, etc.). I agree with those who feel there's no real chorus or build up to anything, which makes the song kind of fall flat.
The MV itself was pretty good in general. However, I thought the intro parts with the slow motion walking in the rose petals were definitely a bit too dramatic to the point of being cheesy, especially the whole freeze frame and rotate effect that wasn't done very well. The choreography fit the song, and the girls generally looked pretty good. I don't really like Taeyeon's recent short-haired, tinted-ends look, but it's not terrible.

tl;dr : The song The Boys is "crap". And really, get out, leave this thread alone. You clearly don't understand the usage of a pagetop. Now have some more Woori:

I wonder though, where random pictures of Korean singers come into that? Is that not 'adoration'? There is no discussion in posting a picture

I like The Boys. I don't understand the hate all too much. I know it's not exactly what everyone wanted, but I think it's fine as it is. The only thing I don't like about the song is that the transitions between singing and rapping seem kinda iffy. It didn't flow very well. The auto-tune, while generally I dislike, was ok in this song. Granted, I would take it out still, but I don't think it ruins the song.

I think SM missed the boat if they think its English friendly, its not even close to what the average American listens to. personally its disappointing like you said because they could have done way more. the korean version is 10x better than the English version.

I feel ya bruh, being the lone 2ne1 fan is meh . Also I only shit talk snsd because sones get super defensive and it satisfies my trolling needs moreso than any other section on these forums. But they really aren't that bad (cept for hyoyeon shes the one trolling all of us) I am 2NE1 fan too, they were the ones who really got me hooked on kpop u not alone

Hmm...for some odd reason I can't get "The Boys" out of my head even though I don't particularly like the song. >.<

Anyone who seriously thought that this was going to lead to some magical k-pop breaking into American mainstream music thing is seriously delusional.
It will never happen.

There is no discussion in posting a picture I never said there was no place for adoration, just that the thread didn't have to include all of it.
Also the "what's the worth of a picture" has been discussed already like a month back when they were cracking down; what it comes down to is that a central part of this thread, especially idol-centric as it is, are the legs and cute girls, and so the thread will always be partly an image dump.
^Looks like a CG dove to me. edit- Renjazu's gotta be an alt...19 posts, all in KMD, all right after SNSD vid came out, all shitting on SNSD? I'd say it's Roffles but he hates Woori and Minah if I recall.
