Or the only one that starts wars.
America is just a really good example of human nature. Hence the tie in with the movie and references (Vietnam, Iraq etc..) If James Cameron had made this movie in Roman times you could bet there would be some Pax Romana references.
Yea but clearly they were referring to only americans, because who else matters in the world?

reminds me of ender's game....Speaking of which I am much more exictied for that movie than I was for avatar
Ender's Game has bee in pre-production for like 10 years it's never gonna get made >_> =(
omg too many retarded trolls that are so angry at life they cant appreciate this movie, holy shit..... Its really funny how these people also have no idea about how much work james cameron did to make sure everything made sense scientifically, they are just crying and inventing crazy ideas that are just stupid ;( Maybe you idiots should start threads and point out all the scientific inaccuracies in starcraft too?

Luckily, as we all know, there are no scientific inaccuracies in starcraft.

Yes and no.
If the flight was six years for an observer on a ship travelling near lightspeed, then you could be right.
However, Pandora supposedly exists in the alpha centauri system, which is about 4.37 light years from earth. The 6 years travel time is for an observer on Pandora (or Earth). The travel time for an observer on the ship is less than that. The exact difference depends on the pattern of acceleration, but if we assume a uniform speed and exactly 6 years travel time, then the spaceship is travelling about 70% the speed of light, and the the trip takes about half the time from the perspective of those on the spaceship.

Everyone who doesn't share my opinion of a great movie is a retarded troll? Is that really what you wanted to say with your post?

For some reason this post got me all hyped up and stuff and started researching Alpha Centauri, only to find out that so far no earth-like planets have been discovored there
It would really suck if we were the only civilization in this universe, and if there is, then some part of every sensible human has to pray that they will be alive to see the day when we make contact..

bet the indians were overjoyed they were still around to see the europeans arrive in north america
actually, i bet they were scared shitless lol, but in an age where mathematics and science has excelled greatly since then, as well as our morals and intellect, why wouldn't we be happy to see that we aren't alone in this universe? We would just have to pray that they would be peace loving, or else we're kinda screwed lolol.

we already made contact with aliens btw, not only military but everyone
we are extraterrestrians. hence it
we have no signs for evolution yet. everystep to a new predominant lifeform is very small. based on the archaeolgical data, a new form developed in a very short period of time, and remaind unchanged for a very very long period. thats not in paar with long slow changing evolution, and has been a big problem in science.
solution: every now and then some extraterrestrian transporter dumped some of his goods on this blue one. last time he dumped stupid revolting agressive passengers.
us.
i hope you get some nostalgicness back. that were times..

btw, I have this theory that life is super common and that there is a galactic alien confederation somewhere

You should watch the movie Contact. It does a decent job of simulating what a realistic first contact with an alien intelligence would be like.
