If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |
Damn I feel like such a newb and a leech with all these questions D: Gotta step up and contribute to the discussions too~~
Thank you, VManOfMana, TimeOut, Ferrose, Spazer, and everyone else I'm forgetting for all the helpful posts! D: Really appreciate it.
My 480p DVD release of Baccano! (by Ayu) is exactly 233 MB. Are you sure that it is a 720p release? Well it was posted in animetake's 720p section, so I dunno. I'm also getting [Ayu-Anime]'s DVD DDL apparently. Edited that into my post, but a bit too late. But I'll take your word over theirs, anyway.
Thanks again everyone!

+ Show Spoiler [Steins;Gate] +Okay, that is seriously disturbing. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/tF8Ry.jpg)
On March 13 2011 05:19 Latham wrote: What sites do you guys use for DDL? Can you tell what resolution you'll be downloading in, prior to DLing (obviously from a list, not from a news post)? What are the normal, standard sizes(like ex. 233MB or 1GB) for 1 episode in 720p, 1080p and 480p? What resolution is the most commonly used for anime?
In addition to torreting during the night, I started to DDL with jdownloader. I started with Baccano! from animetake and had to browse their forums to find out if their DDLs are 720p or 480. They turned out to be 720p so I'm DLing. 1 episode is about 223MB. Is that about right for a ~25min anime with 720p resolution? [Ayu-anime] subgroup if it matters.
Another wierd things is - I'm getting 5-10-20 kb/s with megaupload, but when I choose fileserve or zomgupload, I get 50-200 kb/s O.O the fuck is up with MU for me?
I'm keeping an eye out fr F/Z's last chapter (more like epilogue) and a PDF file D; When I use DDL, it's usually from the subber's own site. The most common sites I've seen are Fileserve and Hotfile. Both are okay. For sites with DDL lists, I prefer Mediafire and Megaupload because they lack ReCaptcha so jdownloader works well there.
Using xdcc is also a viable option.
Episode sizes vary nowadays. 300-500MB is a pretty good range for 720p though.
The most common encodes for anime are 720p h.264 and 480p xvid. I generally opt for the 720p releases unless I really don't care about the show.

File Serve fucking sucks if you're downloading more than one thing at a time though. Since you have to wait like 12 minutes between every download, and you can only download one thing at a time.

Here's my 1st feeble attempt at contributing: http://www.mediafire.com/?bc8a9y28efsc885
Q: What is it? A: ~28MB of icons you can use to customize your anime folders with making each unique and easily distinguishable.
Q: pics? A: + Show Spoiler +
Q:Why should I use this? A: Well if you are using a list view, it's probably useless. But if you like using large or medium icons, it'll help cure the monotone atmosphere of clicking on endless amounts of folders that all look the same apart from the name. It's just eye-candy and customazation, after all.

Edit: @Latham - Details view ftw.

On March 11 2011 11:02 Ecael wrote:Basically there are a few patterns in terms of time travelling and how it works. In this particular case, + Show Spoiler [Madoka] +certain events can be considered as converging points that is triggered by other particular events. So when Madoka made contact with QB, Homura stopped pursuing knowing that it would lead to Mami and the rest working together. Homura seems to know a bit of how events would turn out, and I am pretty certain she has done more time travels than shown.
At any case, the way to get out of this end so far requires a few things. First, Madoka must not contract. Second, Homura must be able to take care of Walpurgis' Night without looking like she needs Madoka. In that sense, barring something truly random from Madoka, she is already doomed on this cycle - she can't take it alone. Even a veteran Madoka + Homura cannot take Walpurgis' Night. So in all, Homura needs to achieve a perfect end in that both Mami and Kyouko must not die. Sayaka in this equation is hard to figure out, as what event cause things to converge on her contract is unknown to us.
But yeah, in all, if Homura read SFs in general and thought more about her actions, she'd know that how she is tackling the issue atm is definitely not going to do anything. But yeah, there is no such way to work this kind of meta knowledge into characters. + Show Spoiler +I'm late to the party, but... Even non-veteran Madoka can apparently one hit the Walpurgis witch. Saving the world is not possible in any scenario where Madoka contracts. She's simply too powerful. I don't trust that suiciding will make everything better either, since it seems despair and happiness must be balanced. I've been wondering if Homura will eventually just kill Madoka before Walpurgis (Since that would apparently only destroy a city, and not the entire world. Seems unlikely though.
