Friends who tried Suzuka was somewhat more interested later on, but not a whole lot more. The manga was supposed to be better, but again a marginal improvement. 2005 is quite a long time ago for me, heh.
As for humor in clannad, it was quite separated from the romance element sans for when Mei tries to play cupid (and owns in the process, I want a sequel to the game, and for the main heroine I want Mei). Suzuka isn't quite integrated with humor either, so I suppose Clannad is a viable choice. Though if we were to try that, I can probably get away with suggesting Kanon and ef.
Feudal era + magic is actually kind of hard, personally I don't think I've seen that much in recent years...

The obvious ones are Clannad (first season and first half of second season fit into what you're looking for) in the unlikely case you haven't seen it already, Toradora!, Itazura na Kiss (first half, anyway), Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Hatsukoi Limited. I haven't seen any of the ones you mentioned there, though I'm watching Suzuka now (I'm on ep 5 or so, and it's pretty mediocre so far...overall production is incredibly underwhelming). I'll check them out myself later.
Gonna try Toradora...after I finish School Rumble 2nd Term. Currently watching it atm.
I read first the manga of Suzuka then watched the anime, if you want a complete story of Suzuka, I recommend reading the manga.

For the first one, Inuyasha's a recommendation, though the plot can slow down at times. Otogi Zoshi is another one that falls under the same lines, but the plot is a lot more direct. I'm kind of out for feudal era + magic, but discounting b), I have a couple more. Rouroni Kenshin was a really nice action anime with kind of superhuman stuff with the action scenes. Basilisk is one that has drama, romance, and action elements. Seirei no Moribito is something that kind of falls under the same lines at Otogi Zoshi. As for the second... There's too many of these out there D: Don't even know where to start except Clannad and Toradora! Now just for a list... Kanon, Love Hina, Shuffle!, Ai Yori Aoshi, Lovely Complex. After you've exhausted yourself with romance-comedy. Watch School Days so you can move past the romance stuff.... Hahaha. Another note, anyone notice gg subs randomly disappearing during their Eden of the East subs?
School Days? Hmm.. why does that sound familiar...

It just also got extremely and heart-breakingly serious once the drama kicked in. He listed Bitter Virgin which he said wasn't a comedy so much (I don't know...didn't even now it had been made into an anime), so I figured it'd be fine if I listed something not so centered on comedy. I think the rest of what I listed is closer to that, though.
BTW, does Suzuka get better? It came out pretty recently, actually...second half of 2005, according to ANN. I've seen other series from before then with better production. I dunno...it's entertaining enough to where I'll probably finish it. I decided to try it out because it seemed like it was big when it came out (as you said). haha...too bad I'm underwhelmed, so far.
Suzuka definitely gets better if you read the manga. Worth it imo.
One last genre of anime im looking for now, is the Stupidity-Comedy Genre with a lot of exaggeration. I could give examples of it like:
Golden Boy Eyeshield 21 Yaketate Japan!
anything else related to that kind of genre?
btw, thanks for the recommendations

Guess it depends on how you define stupid, Yakitake Japan wasn't as stupid as it was ridiculously exaggerated. In which case I suppose Gurren Lagann should fall under that too :p I'll look through my external later to see if I have anything else of that kind, though I haven't been watching much of those...well there is Gintama :p
Why do people like Toradora so much? Taiga isn't even that interesting for a tsundere, and Ami isn't enough of a yandere.

i might call yakitate stupid but its one of my favorites stupid in a way that it makes me laugh im using stupid in a positive way lol

In addition to what's been said, I'd say other good shows in that genre are Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu (+ Deluxe, + Final), Cromartie High, and 2x2=Shinobuden.
Maybe even Azumanga Daioh (I thought it was pretty stupid. And comedic sometimes).
Quite possibly Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, as well...
Pani Poni Dash! and the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei shows if you include anime-insider-jokes-delivered-in-absurdist-humor-style as well.
Isn't Excel Saga another one that's supposed to be "stupid"/ridiculous/absurdist-comedy style? Never saw that one tho.

Why do people like Toradora so much? Taiga isn't even that interesting for a tsundere, and Ami isn't enough of a yandere. The pacing was pretty good until the end (where they butchered it), and the themes were surprisingly mature and not just dumb average rehashes of, "Be yourself! Seize the day! No regrets!" or whatever. I was surprised and so ended up with a great impression of it.
Oh, Seto no Hanayome is fun too...it feels very similar to Hayate no Gotoku, but is funnier in my opinion because it's less formulaic and feels less like a weekly thing.
If we can stray from the comedy a bit, then...definitely Kanon and EF like ecael mentioned (EF isn't so great, but it's worth at least once watch), Kimikiss (I dunno why, but I really liked this one...), and...I thought of more, but I'm blanking out.
If you like slice of life, Minami-Ke is very fun. Does anyone else know shows like this one?
|
Stuff like Minami-ke? Best way to do it would be to check for 4koma mangas and start checking one by one to see if they have animated versions. K-on and lucky star both have pacing and joke timing similar to that, it is just a 4koma thing really. So stuff like Haruhi-chan and Churuya also work. Unfortunately I largely settle for reading doujins for that kind of stuff.
Hmm, the theme was alright, but the characters felt really lackluster to me. Just enough to break out of a normal human-like behavior and not enough for pure awesome, makes for really easy predictions on how things will go. If anyone read Kami nomizo shiru sekai, kind of like how the guy thinks there.
Oh yeah Seto no Hanayome, that was so dumb but so hilarious. I am starting to think I watch those shows, laugh, then permanently forget though.
ef the games are excellent, the anime an artistic experience if not that great on every other ground. Kimikiss is one popular one, though probably more due to the game than the animated version. Though all that does is make me want to get Amagami to see how that game is.
SZS suffers from the problem of it being too Japanese culture oriented, while I always enjoyed it, to be forced to look up things there just to see what some of the jokes are about is a bit tough. Then again, sometimes it is nice to work for your entertainment.
I am also failing to think of anything, though as of late I've watched fairly little anime and read a lot more, so most of the things I can think of are simply in the wrong media.

Excel Saga is the mother of the "stupid"/ridiculous/absurdist-comedy style animes.

It wasn't so much the pacing of Minami-Ke that I liked, but just the "chill-ness" of it...it was very laid back, very slice of life, etc. There was no heavy drama and was just incredibly light-hearted. I haven't run into any other anime quite like that...like the show has no purpose...it's just straight up slice of life. Lucky Star is pretty close, I guess, but K-On! had stronger themes in it.
lol...that sounds retarded...I don't know how to describe it. Something ARIA-esque, maybe? Where the anime just sort of meanders.

about haruhi season 2 episodes:
+ Show Spoiler +this has got to be some kind of epic troll by KyoAni... 4 consecutive episodes of the same thing??! where are they going with this?!?!?! I was okay with the 3rd repeat... I was like, "okay they're trying something novel and risky, I like it". By the fourth, I was going O_O
|
Hmm, if it is just how the show is overall relaxing, try looking up 癒し系, Aria is the best one I have offhand, but there are plenty of others that fit the category. Just searching for it like that will probably yield mostly idols though, but it is probably available in terms of filters as a genre.
Well, something like Sommelier/Bartender will probably do too, also offers neat little stuff about drinking.

I found them okay with Toradora and K-ON lol
What's wrong with their subs? (Not trolling, truly don't know)

This is pretty late but has Eclipse-SS completely shut down or something? They had the best FMA subs imo and I haven't seen or heard anything about them for the last 2 or 3 weeks..
On another note, the first ep of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 bored me to hell..
