Made in Abyss was ridiculously good this time. It actually finally felt like the anime was making progress. I mean, these two are climbing to the bottom of the netherlands yet it felt like they were getting away without much injuries etc... + Show Spoiler +Also, it was broken and her arm was mangled. It's like they'll save her and th arm but at some cost.

So, I'm thinking of watching LoGH before going back to watch the other space anime from that list I made several days ago (watching votoms an episode or two a day). Can I just start the main series? I'd rather not watch any of the movies/ova/whatever unless I must do so.

You should watch two movies first
-My conquest is the sea of stars (pilot for the series)
-Overture to a new war (special edition of the first few episodes)
And then you can start on the main OVA series, but you can now skip the first 2 episodes (or is it 3? i can't remember) as they were covered in Overture to a new war
Deciding to not watch those two movies is plain and simple a mistake, sure you can do it, but anyone who's watched the series will almost certainly agree that it's a mistake to skip them.

I agree that Conquest and Overture should be watched first. Conquest is the pilot for the series (it was the first one to be produced), and Overture takes the first 2 episodes and really fleshes them out by a ton.
Technically, the main OVA is self-contained and you don't need to watch anything else. And in the grand scheme of things, watching or not watching Conquest and Overture won't effect how you enjoy the main series. Its just they are both very good, and there isn't really any reason to skip them. LOGH is already 110 episodes long, so adding an extra hour or two to your total watch time is pretty trivial.

Just finished watching Conquest, nice movie overall and gave lots of decent enough background info.

Yep, its a nice intro to the series. I really liked how it follows those two Imperial Soldiers during it as well, showing what its like for the grunts. Whenever the series does show what its like for the little people during battles in LOGH, its often pretty powerful.

watched the last episode of Hajimete no gal... and idk. They tried to be sentimental and cheesy and all that but I couldn't help going "uwa" throughout the entire episode. Consdering how the show was it should probably be something good for them to go for that kind of thing at least once, but it did so not fit into series at all for me.
Like the pedofriend + Show Spoiler +who ended up "saving" the little girl. Which I guess was supposed to show him in a better light rather than the usual "I want to marry a 6 year old" but with all the backstory we got on him I couldn't help myself from thinking that it's really just creepy and nothing else.
Not once did I get the idea that "maybe he's not as bad as a character as I thought" or anything like that. He still is as bad.
So idk, it's a last episode so I get where they're comming from to round it all up but that really was a shitty episode for me.
