Memento did it better but well that's Nolan so it's a bit of an unfair comparison. | ||

I can see that it's nothing for me so I never went ahead and checked it out myself but whenever I heard the name I generally have heard nothing but good stuff about the manga from multiple people. Is that a thing with the adaptation or are you the only one not liking it in here? Again, I don't watch it, just asking out of curiosity. | ||

Uhm, I can see why this is being hyped because Kakegurui ticks most boxes for a hype-show these days. However, most of these boxes are things I really don't like, so yeah, it doesn't surprise me at all that this is apparently being hyped while I don't like it. I suppose people who think similar regarding this in this thread haven't tried it yet or never will. I think Spazer was the only one who mentioned he wasn't impressed with ep1 and thought the stakes were weak. | ||

Must call you reptile even more now. What kind of machinery? That was such an easy lob that I just passed on it. Also, it wasn't that bad. Since starting FGO, there's plenty of lolis and traps in that game, smh. | ||

There are several aspects you can focus on in gambling: the stakes, the game, and the characters. There is plenty of play in how important each aspect is, but overall, you have to do something well. Kaiji manages to do all three - lives and other things are gambled with (more importantly, it actually follows through when needed), the mechanics of the game are explored and exploited, and there's plenty of sympathetic characters to go around (a lot is also made of "true" personalities being revealed in high stress situations and all that). On the other hand, One Outs has money as the stakes. It's basically a non-factor. What it really does well is the game - it takes the esteemed sport of baseball and turns it into a ridiculous, entertaining farce. In three episodes, Kakegurui really hasn't shown anything. The stakes are nonexistent because it's just money, and all the characters just piss it away. Becoming a "pet" is the other thing that's at stake, but that's also fairly meaningless. + Show Spoiler + At least, the female MC sure doesn't care. Thus, The only claims to fame this show has so far are mild service and meme faces. Maybe they'll have a more substantial game down the line, but it's a pretty awful start for a 1-cour show. | ||

Unrelated: I finished Usagi Drop. The last episode was sooo good, I think I laughed more than during the other 10 episodes combined. In general the show felt incredibly genuine. That was a good watch! | ||

Dive ep 1 sucked. Ep 2 was a lot better. Pretty average sports anime. I thought Ballroom e Youkoso wouldn't be able to showcase the same level of elegance, power, and grace that the manga is so good at portraying. And sure enough, they didn't. But frankly, that's an impossibly high bar. I don't see myself dropping this unless they screw something up horribly. | ||

His reaction to mecha is only natural, if he was reacting any other way it would just make him a failure as a Gundam fan. As for Fate, they've already started doing that. Almost the whole Black side, and like half of the Red Side. The first two episodes were fine, since they pretty much focused on Mordred and her Master, but this past episode they barely even showed up. I dunno how they expect the viewer to care about anything with so many different characters competing for screentime.
