Said gifs are relevant to my interests The writing was a total mess, it was highly pretentious. What do these two even mean. i don't remember occultic;nine being made to have any sort of meaningful message so I don't get how it's pretentious. As for the writing, if you followed the series, the events come together and make sense. You aren't supposed to get it in 3 episodes.
Pretentious: It pretended to be intelligent and complex while it was not. For example in ep1 (I think?) one guy had a conversation with a woman on a park bench. That one was so damn pretentious because the guy was "playing" with her, trying to get her to confess something and he knew more than he devulged. That was the intention. In the end, it was just a bunch of nonsense he babbled and some asspulls at certain points during the conversation. It was seriously annoying to me.
The writing was a mess: Pretty much what Toad said. There are shows like SEL where you are pretty confused about what's going on but you get some answers along the way and all the loose ends are intelligently brought together throughout the show. In the 3 episodes of Occultic;Nine it was just random scenes put in a random order, interspersed with potential meaningless conversations, fanservice and an annoying tit monster doing shit. I get (or got) that the story would make some sense by the end. However, it was so badly put together that I wasn't hooked at all to find out about it later. Toad also mentioned the cliffhanger in ep1. That one was a pretty good indicator that the writers aren't very talented. The cliffhanger had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the episode. It was just thrown out in the last 30 seconds of the episode to give people some sort of hook to watch the next episode. What incentive would be there without that cliffhanger? Exactly, none, because nothing of relevance happened in ep1 at all.

That's why we get so many infodump.exe characters.
Numy please, I thought you knew me better...

I'd be cautiously optimistic about YU-NO, by that I mean it'll probably be shit, idk, even if it gets 2 cours it'll probably not be able to cover all the stuff in source. Also anime science is gonna anime, this time with a far more concrete form than anything I can recall thus far.

I searched it on MAL and found some old sci-fi hentai OVA, lmao. Even the plot seems similar to what is announced now.

Udon no Kuni had a pretty sweet ending. I was moved lol. Only thing that felt weird was seeing a tanuki act as a small child lol.

Was cleaning out my anime folder, and saw I had an episode of Alderamin downloaded, but never watched. This show any good?

Anime will anime and ruin one of the great classic VNs. Heh. I heard this before. It's an adaption of an all age remake of Yu-no that hasn't released yet as well and the author died two years ago. Hmm

Watched the Garo OVA. It's an Emma-focused ep, but it ends up being pretty meh.
The Garo movie was better, but I still think the series was superior. The plot was pretty contrived (for reasons that should be pretty obvious once you watch the movie, but spoilers). It was done for the sake of drumming up some drama. I guess it kinda worked, but it felt weird.
The two things that the series did really well was fight choreography and general horror design. The movie didn't disappoint on that front. However, the resolution to the fights wasn't very satisfying. It almost felt like they stopped the fight halfway to do a bunch of plot stuff.
Character-wise, it wasn't too shabby. Leon does Leon things. Emma's still great. Alfonso gets reduced to being a minor character though.
So yeah, not bad, but it could've been better. The fights are definitely the highlight here.

For New Year, I was thinking about cooking a Japanese/Chinese themed dinner for family and friends.
What iconic Japanese meals come to your mind? Let Anime save us!
Soup : Miso Soup 1st meal : Mapo Tofu 2nd Meal : Japanese Curry! Vegetables : Bok Choy Rice
Dessert?

Fish.
In other news, Ballroom e Youkoso is getting an anime. I do like the manga (even though it's currently on indefinite hiatus), so that's pretty cool. The art is a major draw of the manga though, so I wonder if they can do it justice.
In any case, it should be better than Yuri on Ice.

emnjay where you at. Girlish number and stuff
sry, I'm watching it solo atm, I can rewatch but if you're not on I'm out of the house with friends all of tomorrow, the 30th is probably tough as well, 31st is new years and I have to finish stuff for university that I have left undone... so I'd probably have to tell you to postpone an entire week if we can't watch it
LOL + Show Spoiler [pic] +
pretty good last episode. Not as good as the Momoka / Kazuha ones but noone was expecting that anyways. At least it didn't end on an episode as weak as the last 3 before that
Overall it's still something I'd recommend giving a try if you haven't. It isn't flawless, far from it because like I said, especially the episodes between Kazuha/last episodes felt fairly week but to me this had a certain charm and uniqueness that made it fairly enjoyable. Chitose with her narcissistic, egoistical behavior was enjoyable to me rather than seeing another "I'm doing my best and succeeding in the end" hero. + Show Spoiler +I mean she obviously did as well by doing that in the end but oh well anime. Like I said earlier, had this been written by urubutcher it had ended in suicide Especially in that industry it just makes sense to have a couple characters like her I'd assume. Momoka and Kazuha were just really good and based auther shines with these kind of things. It's sad that we didn't get more of that and that's where the disappointment stems from but far from a bad watch for me.

Hibike! Euphonium second season was, well... really awful. They ignore half the main cast from the first season, try to make Reina's "love" (read: obsession) for Taki seem pure and nice when it's actually quite disturbing, and have a bunch of really stupid, forced drama that took episodes to resolve when it could have been fixed within 5 minutes of them actually talking, but I've come to not expect much out of high school students in anime. 2/10

They built her character all season, to have almost zero screen time of her in the last two episodes. The whole teacher-love-obsession was.. yeah, bad.
Other than that, I liked the season and the show.

Other than that, I liked the season and the show. They didn't really build on her much this season. That was mostly last season. There were a few episodes where she was shown getting along well with Kumiko but that was it. Rest of the season was Kumiko dealing with/observing random drama with the older years.
Not sure the issue with people and Reina liking Taki. I saw that during high school too =\. Crushes on teachers happen... the + Show Spoiler +coaxing his wife's grave location out of him was a bit much I guess. Was also glad they ended any potential drama of Reina feeling betrayed by Kumiko not telling her about the wife part really quickly. Only took about 1/3rd of an episode. They talked it over, and apologized to each other.
