Still have to watch Cromatie.
Saiki-kun gets a sequel btw. so you can look forward to that.

Did any of you guys watch Occultic;Nine? I had no idea until what it is, but recently I have seen some gifs of it that definitely grab my attention. It any good?

Nope, just skimmed a single episode and didn't think I'll have time to add it to my watching list.

It any good? I watched the first episode and it was a MESS. I was really looking forward to it but oh my god was it bad and I never ended up watching ep2. So I checked out some ANN reviews later on to see if it got any better, to see if I should give it a chance after all and while at the end it seems to have gotten a tiny amount better for the most part it still sounded awful with the person writing them trying her best to not rate it abyssal (despite being pretty upfront that it's probably going to be horrible in the very first review).
Chances are I got unlucky with the couple reviews I picked randomly but I wouldn't touch it with a 5m pole. Just out of curiousity, the attention grabbing gifs were the boobmonster? Or something else?

You guessed right. Said gifs are relevant to my interests

I finished it. Better than I expected but the ending was anticlimactic. Now whether I say you should watch it or not depends on if you got anything better to do.

Honestly Sent, THAT is asthetically appealing to you? She has tits that are greatly oversized for her body. Didn't know you were going for cow tits... Her face looks weird as well with this strange cracknel they drew for every character which is supposed to be the nose...
About the show, it's absolutely horrible. I dropped it after 3 episodes and it didn't get any better. The writing was a total mess, it was highly pretentious and the characters were mostly annoying. Tit-girl was the most annoying character btw. So even if you enjoy her boobs you probably have to mute her.

Dam ep 10 of 3-gatsu was rather powerful. + Show Spoiler +Seeing Rei finally realize it's not always his fault and he doesn't have to do anything for his competitors other than just play his own game is nice. Thought maybe we'd have another "redemption" thing with the old man. This time wasn't the case. Kyouko is so dam baffling and venomous. I almost feel like Rei does towards her. I hate that I like have any positive feelings towards her and want to see more of her while my head knows she's a terrible person. Maybe it's the whole "men like to try save the women" kind of mentality. I want her to get help, become who she could be instead of this creature stuck in the past.

[02:54] <Toad|> sent let me put it this way... boobmonster, as much as I like ayaneru, had a voice that will make you want to put a fork into your ears [perhaps it's more the annoying character than the voice itself but point stands] [02:54] <Sentenal> whats an ayaneru [02:54] <Toad|> so only watching something for boobs, and on top of that muting it sounds pretty horrible [02:54] <Toad|> the VA

Just watch Keijo, it's more focused on the better part but it still has some good moments for the sandbags. The wonderful pretty sandbags.

What do these two even mean. i don't remember occultic;nine being made to have any sort of meaningful message so I don't get how it's pretentious. As for the writing, if you followed the series, the events come together and make sense. You aren't supposed to get it in 3 episodes.

I haven't watched but a series 'eventually' making 'sense' doesn't mean the writing can't be a total mess

Where is uta, eca, or kaze I want to know what I should expect from http://yu-no.jp/anime/

This true and I'm assuming but it was by far the biggest complaint about occultic;nine's early episodes so I'm not sure what else it would be referring to.

I haven't watched occult show but I do get the feeling anime community(maybe just the community) require knowledge from the start about the events of a show and can't just be left in a confused state while piecing together what the story is about. That's why we get so many infodump.exe characters.
It's on the to watch list sometime. Cowtits are bothersome though. Only Horizon level stories can get away with me watching through cowtits.
|
I think a big issue is also that most anime are absolutely awful at giving information properly without infodumps

I noticed that Flip Flappers was on many people's list to be AOTY of 2016, so I decided to give it a try. I watched 3 episodes so far and it's tons of fun!
The visuals are also very pleasing, music too

I'd say there's certainly a difference between shows that leave things out for people to figure out themselves and shows just being a mess when it comes to that. At the end of the day that's a personal thing more than anything else though.
Occultic;Nine from what I've heard belongs to the latter for most and if I had to speak from personal experience I'd put Mekakucity Actors in there as well. Despite otherwise liking the show. I couldn't even tell you why I think that it felt like a mess more than a mystery. I'll try though: So when I watched Occultic;Nine I didn't like any of it and it was hard to figure out what's going on, which was the point of the episode (I'd guess). And I really didn't see why I would want to watch episode 2 at all. And then the ending of ep1 happened and it almost made me watch ep2 just because of that gigantic cliffhanger to see what's going on. It was attention grabbing and made me wonder if nothing else. But at the end of the day, to me that just felt like a really cheap trick to get someone to watch the next episode and nothing else. So I never did watch ep2. I never got that cheap feeling from (mentiong it for the 1015861th time) Gakkou Gurashi or other shows like that. I always had the feeling that there was a meaning behind it, never thought it was pointless. So to me it just felt plain better done when it comes to engaging me into trying to understand it. ///Since it was just mentioned above: Flip Flappers was also something I did not finish. It was kinda confusing but I wouldn't really call it a mess either. It had its flaws but not understanding what's going on was part of the reason I went back to watch more episodes and it didn't feel pointless to me. So that's another example of something that did it better imo even if I did not end up finishing the show.///
Occultic;Nine's first episode to me was like a dumpster fire on the side of the road with some firecrackers mixed in. You stop to stare , you giggle at the random explosions and wonder when the next is going to happen but that's it. And I never got the feeling that that would change later on. And frankly from the reviews I did check out later I'm happy I never bothered with watching any more of it.
There's also stuff like the first 2 episodes of Owarimonogatari but that's something else again.
|
Owari was awesome. Anything that has Senjou knocking a bitch out is awesome. Reviews are generally dumpster fire garbage.
|
Of course Owari was awesome. Mostly because of Ougi though. But I wouldn't exactly call it a prime example of how to correctly do mystery either.
I mean, if you think Occultic;Nine is going to be awesome (I thought so too before it started airing) just go ahead and watch it, come back and tell us what you think instead of being angry about "omg, people can't deal with being left a little on their own to figure stuff out" just because this one happened to be genuinely crap

Here's the sypnosis, it reminds me of The man who folded himself :
Takuya Arima is a young student whose father, a historian who has conducted various researches, disappeared recently. During a summer vacation Takuya receives a peculiar package from his missing father, along with a letter containing information about the existence of various parallel worlds. At first Takuya doesn't take it seriously, but soon he realizes that he possesses a device that allows him to travel to alternate dimensions. Is his father alive, after all? If so, where is he?
