Nyaruko and even Cthuko deserve a better cast around them (really wish she stayed neutral towards the MC). Literally everyone else in the show is just awful and unbearable. | ||

I finished up Welcome to the NHK! Overall it was pretty good and had a high entertainment value. On the other hand, the show had a lot of serious flaws that often undercut its meaning. It often felt like that the author was like "oh damn, I wrote myself into a dead-end, what now?" and then came up with something completly ridiculous (mostly on the cost of the characters suddenly being completly retarded). The production value also must have been some of the lowest I have seen to date. I mean, there are things like blank/white people in animes (such as Mikagura or Baka to Test) but in NHK instead relied on bulky drawn character models, moving in weird ways and fps drops to levels I would guess to be ~4fps... In the end, I still ended up giving it a 7/10 but it had so much more potential. | ||

the funny part about that is that 乃 is exactly the same thing as の in that case. 乃 is just the (outdated?) Kanji you can use for the possessive particle の. So her last name is 雪ノ下 (again the same の but this time written in katakana), her first name is 雪乃. Her sister's name Haruno is written as 陽乃 (again, same の). That's some real Kayne West naming his baby North West bullshit naming going on right here. Wouldn't be surprised if her moms name is something that's one "tier" above those seasonal/nature thingies seeing as she "made" them and thus just called them 雪乃 and 陽乃 lol | ||

The shows themselves have similar settings with magic/fantasy elements and a cast of rather good side characters that get overshadowed by the bullshit MC. The only reason I can stand Magic Jesus over Touma is that Magic Jesus is at least cool when he plot armours his way through story moments. If you're going to make sure an MC removes all tension from your story at least make him interesting and cool while he does it. It's no secret I love fantasy novels. I don't expect everything to be as well done as Erikson/Cook but at least try make it decent. @Toad - Lol I actually like Miyuki when Magic Jesus isn't round :<. She's a cool(huehue) strong female character when he's somewhere else.. Which is actually exactly the same as what happens with Misaka and Touma lol. | ||

Not as bad as the surfer girl who thought it's a good idea to fake drowning because she never learned how to swim + Show Spoiler + srsly? you fucking won the surfing contest and you're trying to tell people you can't swim? but she's at least constantly getting owned so that's something But wincest at least makes it funny for me | ||

In Index (and a lot of series) there seems to be plenty of good ideas for characters, world, plot elements, etc but those good ideas and decisions are almost always followed by poor execution, underdevelopment, or some other form of mishandling. Its like the author makes a series of good decisions in a row but then face plants on the last one which brings down the rest. Index is oozing with potential with the world and a lot of the characters introduced being genuinely interesting and cool. What we get is the titular character Index who is one of the most grossly mishandled characters ever while Touma goes around punching things while preaching at them, like some kind of really aggressive Jehovah Witness. The series could have been truly great with some more polish and some tweaks. | ||
