I was told to stay away from it. So I never watched it. Do you think it's worth my time?
Hm, it's kind've a tough call. If you're looking for something to watch and you like mecha than you'd probably enjoy it. It's fairly borderline/slightly above average all around, with I suppose the music and fight scenes shining the most. I'm optimistic for the rest of the series after episodes 8/9, but be wary there's a couple of meh episodes in the middle there, if you're going to start watching :x.
Well it's made by Bones right?
I've watched Xam'd and am currently watching Eureka (Seven), both of which are by them.
I gotta say, they did produce some good mechs so it might be good to watch. Though I have to say that Xam'd's romance ended up pissing me off and the MC from Eureka is also getting annoying.
Other than that though, now that it's Bones, I'll take a look after I finish Eureka and all the other recommendations that are popping up.
Good Bones stuff include:
RahXephon Wolf's Rain Scrapped Princess Fullmetal Alchemist (well, if you like shounen-shit) Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven Ouran High School Host Club Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Xam'd: Lost Memories Jyu Oh Sei
Those are all worth watching, but Ouran, Darker Than Black and Wolf's Rain are probably my favorites.
I guess The Skull Man is decent, maybe Soul Eater and Chiko, Heiress of the Phantom Thief is too, but haven't seen them yet.
Aren't Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo both Bones as well? They're both definitely worth mention.
And because I saw some people pick favorites, I will too: Fullmetal Alchemist 2009.
Incidentally, Samurai Champloo is Manglobe and Cowboy Bebop is Sunrise.

I never thought I'd like anime to the point I could watch a show about manga and enjoy it so much.

Have you seen/read Genshiken? Because you should.
I have not seen or heard of Bakumen, but Genshiken was beyond boring. Nothing happened _at all_.

What? Whats wrong with it... I found it to be pretty interesting and pretty dramatic, and I enjoyed watching it.
I watched the first 2-3 episodes and stopped, was bored from the first few minutes of it ><
Well i usually persevere through the beginnings, cause usually its slow, except if its down right stupid like, uhh, Spice and Wolf, and this princess warrior thing, the name slips my mind. :/

And really people shouldnt watch slice of live shows when they dont know anything about the genre.
You gotta start somewhere though. I was able to decide that it was boring only after watching it. Knowing the plot and character interaction beforehand kinda destroys the purpose of watching the show.
Spice and Wolf was cheesy, but has a setting that is different enough to make it interesting.

DenYuuDen is confusing as ever. This duke guy is Ryner's father? When'd the taboo breaker squad get so competent (Guess everyone was just tricking Milk. What else is new -_-)? Was that random woman who appeared supposed to be Ryner's mother? What the heck is up with Sion's double personality? It's so hard to tell who's "good" now. Even Garstark is looking less asshole-ish these days. And finally more Kiefer! The inevitable Kiefer/Ferris interaction should be good. The Weaver of All Equations totally looks like one of those mechs from Star Driver. And blushing Ferris was pretty awesome.
and DenYuuDen finally getting to the good parts it seems. The Imiyaburi squad has always been competent so yes, same old story with poor Milk. Random woman is indeed his mother. Shion's multiple personalities will be explained later. Garstark has never been too particularly asshole-ish other than when they hunt those with magan. Kiefer is cool.
Oh yeah and the Duke has like a complete makeover from the novels, let me see if I have a scan around here.
