This season should supposedly develop Rias and Issei's relationship more than the novels but that hasn't happened yet, so maybe he'll take rias on a date instead. Who knows.
But yeah, seems vol 6 is the only volume to get a somewhat proper adaption this season. Which sucks because volume 5 is overall the best of the 3 volumes imho due the it being full of world building in regards to the underworld.
Oh well, can atleast hope that volume 10 atleast gets adapted properly if we ever get a season 4 considering how fucking good that volume is.

The whole Juggernaut Drive part was glorious and had a full range of sadness, rage, and then silly/comedy at the end. If they fuck with that part it will be a real wasted opportunity.
|
I loved vol 5 more than 6 ye. 6 just had that really cool moment where as 5 had a ton of really cool stuff. The girls all training and battling with their inner demons. The mother grooming Ise and how devil society works. Also that big rival guy that's Rias friend(sa something?) was introduced really cool. I'm just baffled at the why? It's not like 5/6 were weak so they need to shove in another vol to help buffer it. It's just mindbogglingly.

Tbh if juggernaut drive doesn't happen the way it did in the novels then all hope is lost, because LN spoilers up to vol 11 inside: + Show Spoiler +Issei going juggernaut drive on shalba is one of the reasons why a lot of shit later on happens in regards to chaos brigade and the hero faction, like issei being killed by shalba in volume 11
Also Numy most of the side-stories can be skipped but when you can you should definitely read "Extra Life. The Fun Gremory Family." from vol 8 which takes place shortly after volume 7. It's the most story relevant short-story and also the best, better than volume 7 on its own tbh.

Just finished Mikakunin de Shinkoukei after finding it and asking myself why I didn't end up watching it when it aired, because it totally is up my alley.
So the OP and ED are absolutely glorious. Those are really addicting + Show Spoiler [ED] + Probably worth to watch the first two episodes just for that.
As for the show itself, the first 6 or 7 episodes ended up being a real hit for me. Really liked them a lot. The last episodes on the other hand ended up feelign a little stale. Not really bad but when this whole story with Valentines Day and White Day started it did become less ... random? To compare it with other light-hearted comedy, it's not on the levels of Hataraku Maou-sama! for me. But it's a good watch and I'd recommend it if you have some time on your hands and somehow missed out on it while it aired as well and are looking for some comedy.

Cool I'll try write that down. I'm prob going to go back to reading S&W after this vol. DxD was merely a distraction from all the feels I was getting :>. Kind of pissed off with the Vali save at the end of vol 6.
@Toad - Really surprised you hadn't watched that yet. It's one of the better romcoms I've watched over the years. Quiet fun comedy.

How far are you on Spice and Wolf? Was a really good series. I just have two of the short story vols to finish up.
|
I stopped at vol 11. Holo raging at the Sheep was just too much for me in 10. Almost ruined the book with tears.

The concept of taking the base story and changing the perspective/focus on one other main character and some key points (?) doesn't seem interesting to me. For me it's just a story that is told and in UBW the main characters are probably Rin, Shirou and Archer. From everything I saw so far, I don't know why it should be called the Rin Route nor why it should be called Archer Route. They are just two out of three main characters. Its because there are multiple routes in the VN. Same characters but in the other routes (or version of the story) other characters are emphasized and others deemphasized. Different themes are presented and Shirou faces different challenges to his ideals. Like in the Fate route its all about Shirou and Saber, in Heaven's Feel route its about Shirou and Sakura. Shirou being the center of the story never changes since he is the protag but what other characters do changes as does their importance. Rider for example doesn't get rofl off screen killed in every route and plays a much larger roll in Heaven's Feel so you actually learn and see more about her character. Every route reveals more about what is going on. Yeah I know. But I don't understand why they had to split it up into routes in the first place. Anyways, I randomly started LotGH and Mushishi now. LotGH ep1 was like the first movie but cut down so it would fit into an 24 minute episode - aka the same thing but worse. I assume that was more of an introduction for people that didn't watch the first movie. Mushishi ep1 was excellent. I'm still not even half through GitS#2 but I felt like I need something else before I continue, lol. Are you sure it was the first movie you watched, and not the second? Its the second movie that was basically a movie version of the first 2 eps. Pretty sure. I watched "My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars". In my book that's the first movie. That is indeed the first movie. So i'm curious what you meant in that case, then, since the first movie is pretty distinct from the Astate Encounter.

+ Show Spoiler +I was talking about the scheme. Sure, the backround of the encounter was another in each one but it was pretty much the fleets facing each other. Then we had the tactical counterplay between Reinhard and Wenli, switching back between the two. Wenli again had his problems with his superiors multiple times while Reinhard had to face rebellious, jealous officers. It was like a copy of the scheme with changed backround and tactics inserted. They also "cut" a lot of political intrigue, details etc. to flesh everything out. The only thing that really differt was the fact that Wenli and Reinhard already knew each other from the battle of the first movie.
