For me, AZ is the biggest letdown of 2014-2015. Such a strong start, but the show failed to deliver. It had its moment, but the creators seemed to be unable to create a solid story. What could have been an epic war between Mars-Earth quickly became a battle of teenagers over a princess that refuses to die. 6-7/10 Cross-Ange + Show Spoiler + Not the greatest anime, but since it was never really presented as a serious show, I thought it was enjoyable 7/10 | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Seeing Slaine imprisoned for the rest of his life and all because the princess wanted him saved. Like, I don't even want to imagine how torturous it must be, to be in that spot. For some reason, that scene with him and Inaho didn't sit well with me. Reminded me of the Xmen part where Magneto is sealed away underground to prevent him from escaping though he can control metal (iron in the case of the guard) then just kills him and walks out lol. Anyways, the whole Inaho having an eyepatch and Slaine imprisoned for life. I would've preferred he died in the end, like his wish. Heck, I doubt the princess even pays him a single visit despite him being her closest friend for the longest time. Probably the worst part of all. My other beef with the anime is how fast it felt like it ended. Princess wakes up, manages to escape and then speaks after grandfather dies and most heed her words. It's fine but it felt like we were hitting a climax especially once Slaine told them to go for that all-out earth assault then it all got stopped. Falling action was way too fast for me lol. Overall though, aside from these annoying parts, I did enjoy a lot of the combat and the whole Inaho OP part. I still don't think he's on Mahouka's MC's level yet and likely never will be but he was certainly getting there lol. The mech designs were really amazing as well and the fights effects were well done. | ||

Unfortunately the second half of AZ was mostly + Show Spoiler + #fuckslaine for me and my mates While I am not entirely satisfied with the ending...I have seen worse lol. | ||

Not sure how this is a thing but it seems to be the popular sentiment. That said, how is Yukinon's suffering 8man's fault? If anything, I'm pretty sure Yukinon's suffering is largely Yukinon's fault. zz o/ | ||
