This might just be the most rushed and poorly done adaption i have ever seen. All character development out the window for a rushed poorly done adaption that just focused on getting to the action-bits. Atleast the two scenes i wanted to see adapted are coming up soon, that's one thing i can be happy about, then i can finally forget about this abomination. Have constantly f5'ed the kickstarter the last week or so and yeah I'm very much aware of the fact that it's not the kind of anime I usually like but well, couldn't keep my sanity about how I'd totally spend money on stuff like that if it just wouldn't be possible in the first place. So yeah had some money on it as well. 2 things that are noteworthy imo: First) Everyone who backed the thing via kickstarter (20$ or more) will get access to every UTD anime that gets produced in the future (digital) Show nested quote + Backers who pledge at the $20 reward tier and higher will also have digital access to any future Under the Dog animations that we produce. I am aware of the fact that you get the exact same thing by pirating it without spending money on it ![]() But honestly speaking that's an amazing deal if you ignore the obvious "you can just get it for free!?" for a second. Second) They mentioned that they have got several offeres to do the thing as a normal 26-episode anime and declined those offeres and went to kickstarter first. The way I understand it right now is that they want to get out 3 OVAs to "set the world" as a dooropener to make sure how they envision it can't be tossed away easily. Like, you obviously can't just completly change the thing if there's already 3 OVAs out, you want to continue and people liked those OVAs. So whoever is funding you for the real thing has to live with that. They mentioned an awful lot that they want to make the story itself a trilogy and that's yet to be seen but worst case scenario pretty much is something like 3 OVAs + 23-26 episodes animu afterwards, best case scenario 3 OVAs + 3 movies I guess. There's been an AMA on reddit with the producer as well if you're into that kind of thing click me! the main reason for kickstarter is to dodge the production committees which was my #1 reason for backing this since the theme of this show isn't possible with traditional anime + Show Spoiler [plot spoilers] + as no traditional company would accept a plot about family/loved ones being held hostage while the field agent is working

But yeah I left that out because I thought it was obvious ![]() I just mentioned the other 2 things, like the 20$+ thing because that's minor details a lot of people might have missed that could change peoples minds ![]() And about the committees in general: Yeah but having it 100% funded by kickstarter is just impossible, that's why I said they seem to be going for 3 OVAs funded by kickstarter to get rid of that and have those three done the way they want it without any influence and have a look at what's possible after that. I mean it's just unreasonable to think that they'll be able to cover everything for the real thing by using KS imo. That's what? 5.000.000$ according to their calculation, per movie?. So they're most likely going to make some hybrid solution later on and like I said, with an already established product (3 OVAs) they're in a much better position to handle out deals that let them do things the way they want them, if just for the sake of keeping things consistent.

Second, there have been plenty of anime release the normal way that had even more fucked up premises than this one. Hell, "family held hostage and forced to fight" is fairly tame by anime standards.

Especially if it sold decently. Doesn't mean it's set in stone at all but it's probably less likely to be tampered with. By how much? no idea about the second: Totally agree. Don't see how it's a bad thing that they're trying this out though. There's about no way they're going to cover the full series/movies with KS but hey, why not for the OVAs.

The sword finally coming out is nice though, that part turned out a bit better than I had expected. Random surfing led me to bgms from Light's chuu2 series, now I want to reread a bunch of the games zz

I don't dislike the Binbougami manga in any way, but I thought the anime adaptation actually really pronounced the jokes and made it even better. Largely in part because Momiji is fucking hilarious!!!!
