Code Geass was good if you can tolerate mecha and get used to its flow. In case you haven't seen them, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are both classic must-sees.
Umm...god I suck ass at recommending shit.

Bleach,One Piece, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Hajime no Ippo,Detective Conan,Death Note. HF that will take you quite some time. All extremely long series if you read the manga.

Ioannis, self-proclaimed king otaku...
Recommend me some slice of life-esque series (like Clannad, Toradora!, shit like that...)
Recommend me some good scifi (like Planetes, SDF-1 Macross, shit like that...)
Recommend me some good music series (like Beck, Nodame Cantabile, shit like that...)
If you don't, your "king otaku" title will not be recognized.

My list, highest priority to lowest priority (not including this season's shows): Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Bamboo Blade Kurogane no Linebarrels The Daughter of Twenty Faces Elfen Lied TTGL Yozakura Quartet Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Kemono no Souja Erin Sore wo Kakeru Shoujo Akikan Tetsuwan Birdy the Mighty Kurozuka Casshern Sins . . . and many more. Elfen Lied is really good...just...it should've been fucking 26 episodes, not 13. You'll enjoy it, but be pissed that it's so fucking short and nerdrage over the unattained potential. I agree and with Elfen Lied had been longer, however, I recently read all the manga, and I'm glad that the anime was created while the manga was still running. Everyone will feel different about it, but the later part of the manga for me was like "ok, this sucks, but I'll keep reading because I have to see how it ends."

I have all episodes of Robotech in .ogm format. Shall you upload to the Youtube channel?

Slice of Life: Honey and Clover Fruits Basket<Manga reccomended Air GTO?
Scifi(mentioned to you before but must watch): Banner of the Stars Series Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Music: Nodame Cantabile LiveAction< Watch this its much better.
Out of all of these I definetly reccomend Honey and Clover, best slice of life out there, strong impact and likeable characters, you liked Planetes youll like this.
Edit: Some people also really like Bokura Ga Ita as a slice of life romance, personally I did not like it much but you may, so check it out.

Slice of Life: I've seen all those except Fruits Basket, which is sitting in my hard drive, and GTO...what is that? Honey and Clover is definitely excellent...one of my top favorites.
Scifi: Right, those are definitely on my list. I was hoping for more suggestions as well, as I love good scifi.
Music: This live action is a series or movie? It is Japanese?
EDIT

Watch DMC. I tried to...it was pretty funny for the first couple eps, but I couldn't get used to the pacing, and ended up dropping it.
I also couldn't stand its shitty music...as an avid listener of death metal, the shit they wrote for that show offended me. I know it shouldn't, as it's an intense parody that doesn't even take itself seriously, much less what it tries to portray, but god...I had to cleanse my ears with some real music between every ep.
It's a bit hypocritical of me, I know...especially after telling the one guy to get over his annoyance with K-On!'s lack of realism...but I'm readily and more than willing to acknowledge that I'm an elitist douche about my music.

Watch the Nodame Cantible Live action then, its basically the manga acted out in real life, its pretty good. GTO is a great teacher onizuka, its basically a guy thats full of win that gets into weird situations. Its pretty awesome. You can DL the LA for it after watching the anime too. If you want to go more comedy type anime, check out Azumanga Diaoh and School Rumble as they have some weak slice of life aspects but mainly comedy focused, still good though.

Answer :D? Busou Renkin's a solid action anime; same author as Kenshin too. If you want pure manliness and action watch Sengoku Basara (admittedly other than the fighting, action, pure manliness, OYAKATA-SAMA, YUKIMURA, hot-ninja in love with a metrosexual, Norio motherfucking Wakamoto voicing Oda Nobunaga, there isn't much else).

Ok, here we go.
dbz type - Bleach Hunter X Hunter Full Metal Alchemist
Action.. - Mind has gone blank.. Claymore Berserk Gungrave Black Lagoon Kenshin OVAs if you haven't seen them.(especially trust and betrayal)
Anime that make you think - Depends on what makes you think(philosophical, psychological, reflection, detective types, etc) but here are some I liked Monster(doesn't matter, you should watch this regardless ) Kara no Kyoukai - series of movies aired in non chronological order. Also it's not finished yet, but it's been good thus far. Evangelion - if you haven't seen it heh Welcome to the NHK.
Sheesh.. I'm also terrible at recommending stuff. So many I can't remember at the moment ><.

Yeah. Bleach.
Bleach anime = Naruto anime basically. Even worse? At least Naruto had a couple good fight scenes.
I'll add to that and say you might like Cowboy Bebop/SamuraiChamploo/GunXSword.
|
Ah...Kara no Kyoukai...some of the best animation ever. I don't know about the depth of its philosophical implications, but it is definitely interesting to watch. Especially the fifth movie is a complete and total mind fuck. I love it.

Oh by the way, I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get Detective Conan. I know about DCTP, but that site just doesn't work for me, and they aren't up-to-date, but as far as I know DCTP is the best one out there, so if there is another site that's better than DCTP, please tell! Thanks! :D

Too many to list!!
Slice of life (my favourite genre ^^;; ): best one is Honey & Clover imo, other really good ones are Yotsuba&! (manga only), Azumanga Daioh (by the same mangaka), Nodame Cantabile, Genshiken (very otaku themed), Solanin (currently only manga form, but to be released as a live-action film next year), Bakuman (manga only), Maison Ikkoku (very old anime/manga), and many more...
Also watch all of Studio Ghibli films (all of them very good *hugs his totoro*). I would classify a lot of them as slice of life.
Scifi: you can't go past FMA, FMP, Cowboy Bebop, GitS, Bucanno!, Elfen Lied, Denno Coil, some of the Gundam series depending on your taste
Music: other than the ones you've mentioned, NANA is a must watch, Solanin is also music related, Piano no Mori (manga + live-action film, I don't think there is an anime). Also running along the same lines as showbiz, watch Skip Beat too
I might have missed some since it's 1am. But this should give you some to watch ^^
