Beyond that, Gilgamesh would be essentially the same regardless of what Class he is in, assuming he still can use his Noble Phantasms... And there isn't anything saying he couldn't. Gilgamesh would still be able to bust out Ea as a Saber class, for example.
Kinda assumed since Berserker lost Nine Lives, but who knows.

I'm not really sure about this, but I read from somewhere that Hercules can be summoned as all class but Caster. Which means that the class you can summon a hero is based on their capabilities in life. No idea where I got that tidbits, so take it with a grain of salt.

Gil doesn't have to have skill in anything. In fact, he doesn't have skill in anything. He doesn't even have skill in Archer stuff. He just nukes things, and I don't think that would change if he was a Saber or Lancer.

Fair enough. The high magic resistance of the other 2 knight classes is pretty good, considering how squishy he is. There is the possibility of him losing access to Gate if summoned as Saber/Lancer though, and instead get Ea for Saber and some random Lance/Halberd as Lancer. Diarmuid for example, has those 2 swords that he didn't get since he was summoned as a Lancer

Well reading the VN it did say that you need elements of a class to be summoned as one and it did say that Heracles could be summoned as everything except caster.
One thing that I thought as I watched the anime and even more so in the VN is: Shirou would probably be crucified by the feminist movement, he has a shitty ideas about women that are laughably outdated.

Caught up on more anime I was watching:
Aldnoah Zero: + Show Spoiler +Assuming this anime has settled on its direction now, seems like its going to be teams of (and as much as I hate using these terms) Real Robots teaming up and out-tacticing Super Robots. It feels like Nadesico, or a Real Robot version of a Super Robot anime, if that one makes any sense. I still don't like the Terran Karaphrakts though. Legs too long.
Argevollen: + Show Spoiler +Fell behind by two episodes, but caught up. The CG is still bad, and the main robot is still disgusting looking, but I'm still liking it regardless. I wanna see more grunt battles, since those are the only mecha designs that are any good. Also that enemy ace should totally be wearing a mask.

I just watched a short OVA series called "Legend of Koizumi".
Don't even know Mahjong besides the extreme bare essentials, but that shit was hilarious. Feel like I could easily get back into anime if I find a good gambling one.

First of all, + Show Spoiler +Hina obviously didn't die, maybe you have another anime in mind.
Secondly, MAIN characters don't "break it-or-make it" in mecha anime, mechanical designs, scene direction, world setting and SECONDARY ones are.

Buddy Complex has an MC with + Show Spoiler +insane plot armor from.episode 1 was ridiculous to watch ,, i know aldnoah MC also has plot armor but at least it was more believable or reasonable.
@f/z or fsn or nasuverse : wasn't Gilgamesh the most broken thing in that universe ? he can almost beat everyone by just spamming Gates of Babylon and pull out Ea if shit gets terrible .. i also read from somewhere that if he gets serious he should never lose since he always underestimates and play around with his enemies but i am not sure of the legitimacy of that source ..
