Speaking of Fate, I find it weird that people always seem to say Saber strongest but her stats are pretty medicore in the VN (I don't even get why her noble fantasam is C rank, is that because in FSN Shirou was her master?). Saber/Lancer - Gil has shit melee combat skills. Berserker - Lose access to Gate Caster/Assassin - He'll probably kill the summoner for summoning him as a mongrel, good for nothing class. Rider - Possible, considering the class's defining trait is their NP. But you're trading Independent Action for Riding A+. Stats wise, I'm not really sure about the difference, but I don't think Rider has much/any advantage over Archer. Gil is the strongest Servant due to how broken Ea is, if you take that away, he's only high tier. Saber with a proper master can probably take him, or Hercules with a proper class/Hercules with Mad Enhancement turned on So I started the FSN VN and Christ I forgot just how much of an idiot Shirou is. I was hoping it was the anime that was making him look bad. You'll be waiting for a while. The only passable Shirou (IMO) is Heaven's Feel, but you have to run through Fate and UBW first. Or you could get the Realta Nua version (+ Patch from Beast Lair) and just play HF. | ||

Beyond that, Gilgamesh would be essentially the same regardless of what Class he is in, assuming he still can use his Noble Phantasms... And there isn't anything saying he couldn't. Gilgamesh would still be able to bust out Ea as a Saber class, for example. | ||

And just because Gil has a bunch of melee weapons, doesn't mean he can use it to a lancer/saber level | ||

In terms of the knight classes and Rider the differences would probably be just stats. Gil being bad at melee doesn't have its ground in anything other than the fact that he doesn't want to fight in melee combat. | ||
