The first two episodes seemed to make a mockery of religion and relationships akin to that of Southpark, and the latter two episodes made a mockery of narcissism also akin that Southpark. I don't understand the purpose of the characters, or the show. The lyrics to the song in the out-tro make it seem like it's supposed to be a romance but the amount of romantic interaction between the characters after 4 episodes has been minimal. The episodes also fail to build on each other since the knowledge of what happened in the first two minimally affect understanding of the next two.
The fitful animation is also unappealing since everything is presented so candidly through quite unequivocal speech; there is nothing to notice, so I found myself reading the subs more than I was watching the animation (which is usually just mouths' movements). I don't understand the purpose of the flickers since they mostly repeat a phrase or word that was recently spoken or thought.
To me, so far, I would describe this show as mind-numbingly vapid Are the later episodes of bakemonogatari better than the first? I've read on various websites that it's supposed to be good because of wittiness/profundity/etc so I feel that meaning may also be lost in translation. Is there a specific sub/translation I should watch? Currently watching them here Theres romantic progression at the end of the second arc. Just stick through it. I warn you though, consequent seasons just get real weird. If anything, Bake is super normal/tame compared to the rest.
edit: + Show Spoiler [Tokyo Ghoul 02] +MC reminds me of Ehren, how hes so whiny and bitchy. Im also sure its the same VA, which doesnt help the fact.
Then you got the girl ghoul. Instanly reminds me of Mikasa with her cool nonchalant attitude. w/e boring.
So Im like, "wtf has this show got going?" The gore? Im so desensitized to that shit that it bores me beyond all belief.
Idk im just bored and ranting, waiting for Tokyo ESP.
+ Show Spoiler [Yama Susume S2 01] +They were cooking beef curry which I thought was cool. I was like, hey I can make that easily. Then they added chocolate and coffee at the end. WTF. RUINED IT YOU STUPID BITCHES. My face.

Sengoku Basara Judge End's animation looks cheap as fuck. I'm disappoint :'(

Today is a good manga day! Sekirei, Fairy Tail, D-Frag, and Nisekoi all came out today.
Nisekoi 130: + Show Spoiler +Hah Mimiko really is the ace journalist. Again nothing happened but the people and the censoring + reactions were spot on lol.

Is there a specific sub/translation I should watch? Currently watching them here Nono don't watch on gogoanime. I don't understand japanese but if I compare that source from other sources , sometimes the translation looks unclear. True it's not your conventional anime. The art is weird and the conversation sometimes is so random but the show is actually very clever and the character interactions are actually really fun. At least that is the case for me. It's not focused on romance buddy. But if you didn't enjoy it during your first 4 episodes then you won't probably like it. it's your choice to drop the show. The animation style of bake is partly Shaft being Shaft and wanting to look cool and part animating a novel that has over half of its wordplays done graphically. That led to a lot of saying something and then displaying it again on screen.
If the theme of Zaregoto was Nishio having people speak nonsense, the theme of Monogatari is Nishio writing nonsense on paper.

Bakemonogartari was okey when I first watched it but then I rewatched with gg subs and thought it was much better imo. Still I wasent a huge fan of the series till monogatari s2.

So just watched Tokyo ESP 01, the last hope of summer season.
The animation is a little sketch. Blood looks stupid imo and it all in all it just doesn't look all that great. From everything else it seems to be watchable though. Nothing great, nothing I'd drop episode 1 either.

Glasslip: + Show Spoiler + Hell is going on? I thought I was watching a SoL about a love triangle in a group of glassblowing friends... suddenly YOU CAN SEE THE FUTURE TOUKA. Uh, what?
I do like it, though. That just threw me for a massive loop.

+ Show Spoiler [Glasslip] +lol at everyone thinking Glasslip was a SOL. I also thought it was going to be that XD Given, this whole see the future could be good or bad depending on implementation. So far, seems like she can only see it with David around (more clear etc...) so they are obviously going to get closer. Group going to break up as well it seems (based on what she saw).

+ Show Spoiler + it'd be interesting if she keeps hanging around david in order to see the future to keep the group together, but the group breaks up b/c she keeps hanging around david. So like the thing she's trying to prevent is actually caused by her actions of trying to prevent it.

I kind of hope that's not how it goes, but that's the feeling i'm getting from it.
Started Fate/Kaleid today...Illya's adorable and all but i donno if i can really take her seriously at all.
Anyways, lots of shows to watch this weekend, i'm super pumped and tomorrows my birthday

You watch the rest of the Fate universe Ryuhou?
|
From what I saw of Fate/Kaleid, I didn't much like that version of Illya. I much prefer the heartless version of her in Unlimited Blade Works.

I don't quite remember, was she significantly different in UBW then in the Stay Night series?
